My band opened for Petra in Vichy, France (1995) We met John backstage. I can tell you that he is a true Christian! Kind, encouraging, respectful, humble. The music world needs more people like him. God bless you John!
I opened for John in the late 80s in Fairfield Connecticut. He said I was "Rockin". A great guy and a great singer. Petra was a grammy award winning group and it was a blessing to warm up the crowd for him!
John's spot on that most of the music played any more is praise and worship instead of evangelistic. I really haven't listened to Christian music radio for at least 15 years now because of all the anthems and related music. I wish younger people could experience the same type of music that we had with groups like Petra, DeGarmo and Key, Allies, Michal W Smith, Chris Rice, etc. Songs that grabbed your attention and really made you think, but were also fun.
WOW I love John Schlitt. Id love to meet him I saw John in 1992 in his starting solo concerts as well as Petra in 1990 Beyond Belief tour. He is a very gifted artist.
Great interview! John has been consistent for as long as I’ve been listening to him. Message and performance. Awesome to see him still doing what he’s been called to do.
World class musician who was saved out of the Pit and who continues to use his talents to encourage believers and to take the message of hope into all the world. Love this man.
I saw Petra when they came to El Salvador in 00s, I'm still blessed with its music, 🎶 if I had to die for someone, no doubt, enter in, beyond belief, I'm on the Rock, just reach out. Still listening every day!!
I just recently went to see Petra during one of their stops on their Reunion tour, and gosh it was awesome! I'm so grateful that I got to see them at least once (keep in mind these guys were already in retirement by the time I turned 5, so I never thought I'd get the opportunity). Watching these types of videos with John, though, phew! That man has a testimony, and I love to hear it! Yahweh is good! 💗💖
People don’t go “evangelize” because for a long time they’ve been told they basically have to go overseas to do so. And they mostly fail doing that so they get depressed about no being successful and then don’t even spread the gospel locally. So we have to be careful about being so “go go go” driven (specifically out of the US) that we miss the obvious need in our own houses and neighborhoods.

those bands were the best, today's CCM is not for me, and for the most part is really bad and not christian at all
I loved Head East before I came into my first love with Christ and when he became the singer for Petra I was thrilled!
What an absolute legend and the nicest guy.
My favourite singer !!!
The greatest of all time..what a singer what a personality most importantly what a man of God

Still listening to PETRA in 2024
This is great. Amazing voice and decades of bringing the word of God to the masses. Ty for this video.
Now this is a rock star!! A rock n roll icon that should be a roll model to today's youth for jesus!!!
Thank you so much brother John!

Love you man!!! My inspiration sir
John: The messages on your album SHAKE were SO ENCOURAGING! You did that album GREAT JUSTICE!
I agree…. We have lost that kind of music so I don’t listen to the Christian radio stations anymore.
Yeah man. I was always disappointed with Christian radio. Even at Petra's pinnacle. They weren't played.
U are the best singer then now and forever
