Blaring "things can only get better" the labour winning campaign song from 1997 election is next level trolling 😂
Definitely only got better eh?
You mean Blair-ing, right?
@@hmishfiddyI mean they legitimately did get better atleast until 2008
@@hmishfiddythey did get better from Major, yes
Back when Sunak first heard that he was still in school, claiming he had working-class friends.
'Things Can Only Get Better' playing over Rishi's speech whilst the rain pisses down on him is absolutely hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

He pretty much already is. He holds a green card - pernament residency.

Why are some people are against the conservatives? Uk is becoming an islamic country, lots of illegal migrants, unless you or who thinks like you is one of them I do not see a point of people not voting for the conservatives.
I am not aware of uk politics so I don't want to sound like I am against you but I genuinely want to understand.
Most European countries are switching right/conservatives and I see the reason but why would a country like UK not do so?
Is it not autodestructive?
@@Chorei1616 it's a long story but also you've been massively misinformed if you think the UK is becoming an islamic nation, legal migration is a thing the Tories have encouraged and illegal migrantion makes up about 0.01% of all migrants to the UK so a tiny amount. Migration also probably isnt top of most people's list of issues when you realise net population growth is about 200k a year in the UK meaning migration is the only reason the population isn't shrinking. What's really turning people against them is the blatant corruption, the COVID parties they held and the economic misery we've been going through that while GDP etc looks slightly better your average working person isn't really feeling much improvement.
Also all right wing parties in Europe are pretty pro migration when you actually look at the number of migrants they let in mostly because most of Europe is in a similar demographic position to the UK
@@Chorei1616I also forgot about the fact we've had something like 5 prime ministers in 5 years with 4 of them not being elected due to the way our parliament works

Sunak finally delivers something that the British people actually want.
I mean, surely choose to make a speech indoors without rain and the threat of D-Reem, and pick a date other than 4th July. Just a few handy hints and tips there.
Political pressure usually leads to prime ministers doing seemingly silly things. Because the power has shifted to other opposing politicians. This general election announcement proves that the Tories are not in control.
I like that it's 4th July 😂

Lots of basic home stuff was better in that era: less homelessness, shorter NHS waiting times, and not having the people in power siphoning off money to their mates, all sorts that noticeably changed under Labour (and that this government has specifically been doing badly)... there was plenty wrong with it as well, and I agree whatever the government gets in. But it's possible to see that bigger picture and also have hope that there will be small differences that matter.

Bit awkward for that MP who just came back to work after loosing all his limbs, only to find out he'll probably be unemployed in 6 weeks.
under the tory proposals for the disabled, they would have him doing 14hrs a day as a bloody scarecrow rather than paying any form of benefits

@@afoster1621Craig Mackinlay is a Tory MP who is going to lose his seat and thus be unemployed. Given that he has no arms or legs, it will be difficult for him to find other employment. The joke is that Tories have made support for disabled people so lacking that they are pushing them into wildly inappropriate jobs, hyperbolically suggesting a scarecrow.
Thus someone who supported such awful cuts is going to be somewhat hoist by his own pétard...

Rishi’s campaign promise in a nutshell: ‘Trust me bro’.
What's even funnier is that apparently, the fuzz confiscated the boom box from the bloke, and the crowd started singing the song as a two finger salute to the fuzz
Notice how he skiped over the issues brexit brought.
Exactly, I have always said that. Whenever they talk about the hardships & all things that have affected the UK, Brexit is always avoided & never mentioned, yet it is the very root cause
And that he blamed rising costs entirely on the Ukraine war.
Because Brexit wasn’t that bad for us
At what point do u guys let it go? When you are old and grey? 😅

The only way that speech could have gone any worse would be if a pigeon had shat in his eye. One minute in it starts to piss down with rain, two minutes in he gets drowned out by Labour’s 1997 anthem. Brilliant.
It is remarkable that the parliament has voted for fixed terms. And since that, we see more snap elections in England than the grains of sand in Gobi desert.
The Fixed Term Parliaments Act has now been repealed. It was as you note easily circumvented. Mrs May got the 2/3 majority because the Labour Party, after its criticisms, could hardly vote to keep her in office. Boris Johnson couldn't get the required majority so Parliament just passed a very short Act stating that an election would be held on a certain date.
Actually in historical terms the number of elections recently isn't huge. Since the maximum term was set at 5 years (1911), the average term, if you exclude the extended war parliaments, is about 3 years. In 1974 there were two elections in the same year.
Excellent comment
This is the UK parliament not the English parliament. Let me correct you "More snap elections in the UK"
