Thank you for making this video. The ATR has quickly become one of my favorite flight sim airplanes and the flight sim community is so lucky that an expert like you is willing to produce this kind of video. Thank you!
Giving ATR lessons here is a very important privilege for us aviation enthusiasts. I was already watching your lectures on real aircraft ATR. Now I will watch your sim lessons with great pleasure. Thank you Magnar.
Hello, unfortunately I am only a sim pilot. So far, I have only flown large jets in simulators. Some time ago I decided to try ATR for MSFS and damn it I enjoy flying it more than flying the 737. Your guides explained a lot to me and taught me how to fly properly. good job, captain, and best regards
Wow, this series will complement a long you have already made about the real aircraft. Can't emphasise enought this precious knowledge and tips you give us all. Thank you so much. Regarding the controllers it would interesting to know how you configured yours (sensitivity rudder, reverse thrust etc.) By the way if you click and hold right alt-ground key on any screen (pfd for example) they will pop up and remain on top regardless of your move around the cockpit. This makes you able to see warning announcements being correctly displayed when you perform tests. I'm eager to wait for the next tutorials 👍👍Thank you again
Thank you for your tip about the pop up! I will use it in later videos. For the time being, I have not made any adjustments to the rudder or power levers.
Sensational, Commander Magnar! I'm putting the teachings into practice on my ATR 72 on Xbox. I watch your videos straight from Brazil. Thank you very much. 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Wow, this is a mind-blowing informational series for the one who wishes to experience what real pilots learn, know, and perform for a living every flight, it's not a game, or a SIM if one imagines (for us lesser mortals) lives are in one's hands, no reset button, no restart! Respect to you Sir. You people are next to Surgeons in commitment, dedication, and the IQ to grasp it all.
Great tutorials. Im a big follower of A330Driver, but wanted an tutorial from someone with real world experience in the ATR. Really starting to spend some significant time now with this plane in the sim. Looks like I have some helpful guidance
I am only using Boeing and Airbus and in procedure they're almost similar and I am planning to buy ATR and decided to watch tutorials first if I am going to go for it but some tutorials are confusing they're going to overhead then pedestal then overhead then console then pedestal, I'm lost. Thank you for this tutorial and now I am certainly going to buy the ATR now haha. I'll try to do this part 1 first if I can execute it correctly then will proceed to part 2 after. Thank you again sir for this wonderful and good explanation.
Thank you for your tutorial, ATR is one of my favorite turboprop aircraft and it is great to learn from a ATR Capt. No one knows the aircraft better than a ATR instructor. Thank you sir.
Thanks a lot, this is the only liner I'm flying right now and having a tutorial made by someone really knowledgeable about it is the best thing it could happen :)
Hi Magnar! I really liked this plane, and now I fly in MSFS2020 only on it. Even though for a long time my favorite was the Fenix Airbus A320. I watch your lessons, and even with my, unfortunately, poor knowledge of English, but with your intelligible intonation, I understand almost everything. Thank you for your work, because at this moment I feel like not even a simulator fan, but a pilot in training of my ATR-72-600.
as a TRAVELER, **I LOVE this AIRCRAFT !** Everytime I can, I sit right beside the propelers to see the whole range of motion they go through during flight ! Maybe one day, I may take some flight lessons, even if it is a GLIDER 😉😉
Thanks Magnar for the tutorial video! I can see you also had the "stick shaker" bug where the PFD notification cannot be cleared. Hope this also will be fixed by Hans. Looking forward to the following videos.
@V1Simulations should be watching this series lol. What an absolute priveidge this tutorial is Magnar. I'm a visual learner, and along with your narration and clearly defined highlights, this is absolute gold. Thank you Captain.
Thank you very much for this video series. Really well broken down into different sections and easy to follow. Not so easy to learn everything, though! 🙂 I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Captain Magnar, greetings from Bogotá Colombia, congratulations for this wonderful video, simply spectacular. I will start my flights in FS2020 with a larger property. Mauricio!
Appreciate your input on the aircraft. I've had some weird issues with the aircraft that I hope will be addressed soon but look forward to any directions you provide on the handling of the aircraft.
Thank you Magnar for these very useful videos which allow us to better understand how the aircraft works. In this regard, could you better explain the difference between XPDR 1 and EPDR 2..... I didn't understand it. Thanks again
Hi Magnar, I really thank you for all your very helpfull videos! Ive learned so much from you about the ATR and Flying knowlege in common. You helped me and the community on my little channel a lot and i really appreciate your work and time. Im looking forward to see more of your exciting content. Thank you again, and pease, keep up the good work:)
Very informative intro to this aircraft, especially for me & others who are first time pilots on more complex aircraft. The following episodes will be interesting to follow! Just one thing the tablet no longer shows the tail prop?
Love the help you give but the dme for the ils does not appear. Ils is in the bottom corner but no distance. The vor works fine. Seems like it is not picking up the proper info. What am I doing wrong? Thx
Thank you for such a great detailed video! My external voltage remains at 0 when selecting external even when ground power is turned on, departing from VQPR could you please tell me what I’m doing wrong
Well done tutorials! Is there a third party vendor that models this plane the best or just get from the marketplace in MSFS? Thanks for your contribution to the community!!
It is recommended to climb with IAS mode. Normal speed for climb is 170 kt. For descent, you use VS mode. Normal descent rate is -1500 pfm. Before you start climbing (or descending), you set the desired altitude with ALT SEL.
@@FlywithMagnar sir, thank you for your detail explanation. During descent, wouldn't it be better to descend in VNAV mode, so that the aircraft follows the VNAV PATH and at the same time, complies with altitude restrictions too?
Hi Captain, Just like a fate a new update of the ATR came up right after your new tutorial...Hope you are nor discouraged ! 😉 Back to my former issue, I do not understand how and when to properly use VNAV. If you could clarify I would be immensely grateful. Kind regards, PS/ I watched your "Flying the RNP approach tutorial" where I can see VNAV used once the Glide cursor is displayed on the PFD to enter VNAV Path mode but I do not know if this mode will respect or not potential altitude constraints in the FMS; how to set the Altitude; what are the other VNAV modes logic like VNAV IAS etc.
Hey captain thanks for the video, My question is that, do we turn on the windshield heating During the start or just before engine start because I don't think it's a good idea to Heat the windshield unnecessarily??. Thank you
The windshield heating only works when the ACW generators are operating, which means the propellers must be rotating at 65% RPM or more. So we keep the pushbuttons ON all day long until we are leaving the aircraft.
Thank you Magnar. Really valuable to have your insights; fascinating in-depth information that builds further on the ATR 72-600 Discovery Series by the Microsoft Flight Simulator channel. Do you have the opportunity to feed back your observations directly to the developers? Looking forward to the next one.
After joyfully watching your real life ATR videos to study this beautiful airplane, I'm so excited that you help us direct with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 ATR version. THANK YOU so much! But I have 2 questions: 1.) In your video DC GEN 1&2 white lights are not lit after the Battery ON step. But normally they stay in OFF-state, so that we also have to press them while Overhead panel flow. What is right? 🙂 2.) In your desription you wrote "This video is based on version 1.0.18". But I only know the first update 1.0.8. Is this just a number too much or is the 1.0.18 real and for example in beta?
Thank you for your feedback! 1) The generators should never be selected OFF. This issue has been rectified with version 1.0.18. 2) The update is available now. I made most of this video with version 1.0.8 and waited for 1.0.18 to get some items right (for example the position of the generator pushbuttons.)
@@FlywithMagnar Thank you again for this helpful reply. And I'm so happy about the newest update, but unfortunately it has a problem to download what you can read it the official forum. So, at the moment, I (or we all) can't enjoy the new update, but I'm looking forward that they will fix it soon.
Great to see you do those tutorials for flight sim Magnar! There's no better knowledge to gain than that from a real instructor on type!
Much appreciated!
(Was about to tip @737NGDriver on this, but sure - he found it…😅)
Just great, Magnar! Looking forward to the next “classes”… 👍
Impressive tutorial- does not get better than this. Thank you very much for this.

Really useful. I have my type rating for ATR 72 600 in September and I found this particularly useful. Looking forward to part 2
Excellent ATR instructional video. Thank you Magnar
Excellent video. Thank you very much for your continued contribution.

thank you very much! brilliantly done, recording and relax
Excellent! Now I will have to redo my checklists😃👍
the definitive, must have for the ATR....many, many thanks
Many thanks for your informative videos Magnar. I am using them to write a Manual for the MSFS ATR.

Thank you Magnar, looking forward to the rest of the videos! 😊😊
Thank you so much. The text explanation of system's acronym and use are very useful.
Great to see your videos so we gain some knowledge to use in MSFS, thanks a lot!
Loud and clear captain! Thank you so much.

Wow this is fantastic sir thank you very much for the upload, can’t imagine all the work you put into this👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Magnar now with 737NGDRIVER, Flightdeck2Sim, and V1 SImulations. How lucky are we to have these people in the community.
Best ATR tutorial, thank you.

The aircraft has two transponders (XPDR). We use #1 on odd days and #2 on even days.
Thank you Captain for these videos!
Very good tutorial Magnar. And now i can clearly see that this plane is a lot harder than A320Neo, where a lot of thing just working in automod.
正牌ATR機師親自教授,想學ATR看這一部準沒錯

When testing the Green HYD pump on the ground would it pressurize if you ONLY had battery power on and not EXT PWR?

Wonderful informative video captain! Request you to please make video using ATR72-500 sim.. please !
There was an update a few weeks ago and the EFB, while promising, has some issues. Also, the hotel mode got messed up. What's your take on it?
Would love to see an updated version of this since the last update
Thank you, sir 😊
Great vid thanks for taking the time to make it.
Well done tutorials! Is there a third party vendor that models this plane the best or just get from the marketplace in MSFS? Thanks for your contribution to the community!!
The ATR is available from Marketplace in MSFS. Two versions are included in the pack: ATR 42-600 and ATR 72-600.
You all have a Brazilian ATR pilot too explaining very well the operation with aircraft. In Brazilian language.
standing by for part 2, Captain!
What ATR are you using? This doesn't look like the Microsoft ART I am using. I have none of 4:52 on my EFB.
I used the ATR model "straight out of the box." This video was posted more than a year ago. Since then, changes have been made to the ATR model.
@Magnar, During the climb phase, how do you ensure the aircraft complies to the altitude restriction? Is it recommended to climb in VS or IAS mode?
