For those who have not seen the show, Spider Carnage is not just genocidal; That portal is designed to amplify an explosive device to encompass the entire multiverse. Dude is litetally omnicidal, which makes this video even funnier.

@@jonathancampbell5231I feel like the "went crazy" part is the important difference there even for as bonkers as Green Goblin also is, mostly because Carnage's crazy tends to even more omnicidal than Norman's.
Funny thing with Venom, specifically the symbiote component, is it tends to be a mad ex-girlfriend more than anything. Had Peter just gone to couples counseling, the entire "Venom" thing could have been avoided.

Funny enough, how that's Spider-Carnage was stopped in the show. Peter brought a version of Uncle Ben, who was still alive, and he got through to Evil Peter. The Carnage symbiote refused to go down without a fight, though, so Evil Peter had to kill himself and the Carnage Symbiote.

I love the phrase "We're not so different, you and l." because it's THE villain line. I have seen it used by a hero maybe twice. But villains say it ALL. The. Time.
I would just shrug and say "Yeah, we're really not, but I'm still putting a stop to this so deal with it."
It's an appeal to empathy, and a defining trait of most cartoon/comic "villains" is lack of empathy. It _might_ be effective on a rare "noble goals/evil methods" villain - but for the most part, a naïve hero using that line and accidentally making a villain feel _more_ justified would be fun storytelling.

Even I get tired of seeing that trope. Villains be committing mass genocide, but then think the hero is the same as them just because he punched a poor villain a bit too hard, or killed a goon that was in on committing mass genocide.

I really loved this plot in the cartoon as a kid. The fact that they went through all this destruction and threat from Spider-Carnage...and then all it took was seeing an Uncle Ben from another universe to talk to and suddenly the real Peter breaks free almost immediately.
I'm a grown man now and still love it.

Ah, that takes me back. Seriously, why hasn't Spider-Carnage never had an actual appearance outside of one comic run and the 90s show. He only appears as a cameo in games and the only one that I distinctly remember him appearing was The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game as a costume as a reward for completing the main campaigne.
It felt like "No Way Home" was setting up for this but then they dropped it.
I don't know about the comics but the reason most adaptations never get to it is. You need to first set up Venom then set up Carnage. Only to then set up the multiverse.

Carnage showed up in Ultimate spider man but it wasn't that interesting.
They did it in a small run when Ben Reilly was Spiderman and Peter was retired because he thought he was the clone at the time. It was in the middle of the never ending clone saga tho. Ben thought he could tame the carnage symbiote but eventually gave it up.

I love that Spiderman snaps after getting tired of having his moral compass poked to many times. YOU HAVE CLAWS, SHARK TEETH AND TENDRILS MAN. His character is always questioning if he's really the good guy or the villain, but when its so obvious he's not the villain it makes sense for him to be pissed.
Monologuing is a mandatory trait for all villains its literally written down! Peter calling evil spiderman out for having the carnage symbiote and claws is hilarious though.

Uncle Ben showing up in the original episode was a like an emotional punch to the stomach.

To this day, I kind of love that the only Spider-Man in the entire multi-verse that did not let Uncle Ben die was the one with the giant mech, Spider Power Armor, and a mega corp with his name on it. In other words, Tony Stark.

I was half-expecting the joke to be that the Spider-Man Carnage was possessing was actually evil and that the symbiote had little to no influence on his actions.
Different characters, different superhero universe, but the Justice League cartoon basically did that with a Luthor/Brainiac fusion. Superman did a "I know you're still in there, Lex" and Lex was like "Yeah, and I'm into this."
