I'm from the US and have been into EOTS since first hearing them on Triple J radio when I visited Australia in March 2009. I describe them as the greatest '80s band that the '80s never had. A lot of the tunes on this album wear their influences heavily: "Concert Pitch" (The Cars), "I'll Be Around" (Pet Shop Boys), "Keep A Watch" (David Bowie). My favorite Empire album of the three so far. My favorite track is "Old Flavours," which has very minimal vocals but I keep playing it back wanting more.
EOTS definitely changed my way of thinking. Hip hop and rap made things like this stuff is fire but EOTS made me believe and encouraged me to keep going. This album made me cry If only my mom had the chance to learn and understand English before passing away I'm sure their music would have saved her and help her through the struggle she was going through. I love you mom. I'll see you again in my dream hopefully it's not one where I'm flying and running away from the government. Lol
This band changed my taste and sense in music completely, ever since the 1st album a huge fan, though that was still a bit more experimental. THIS album however got me hooked when i heared the first teaser of Old Flavours and, just like you guys, i kept dancing to it 😁🎶 Cause this album is so much better and has become one of my all-time favorites since then.🩵 Hopefully you'll do the 3rd album, Two Vines, next. 💚
This band has been involved in every aspect of my life since first hearing Alive on FIFA 14. This album is one of my all time favorites and I’m so glad you guys love this beautiful art piece!
Between the both of you y’all are reacting to all of my all time fav artists and bands. These are rarities bc nobody in my life knows or listens to these artists. They def give off Fleetwood Mac meets 80s synth pop vybez. After watching this reaction, I’m in such a great mood.
Thank you so much for saying this. As creators we often get stuck in the grind of making stuff, and forget about why we do this and the beautiful art that we showcase. So the fact that it can connect with someone on this level means so so much. Thank you. I’m in such a great mood, too. -Zach
I just barely started listening to more than just Walking on a Dream like 3 months ago and holy shit. I listen to their stuff daily now and i have so many favorite songs on each of their albums.
I always thought the same thing with that MGMT comment. That band was HUGE during my college years and Empire was this niche electronic band I thought I was the only one who liked. Funny how things turn out. Empire is def a unique sound and great artist/band!
The underdogs always take flight! ✈️ this album is background music to my life’s movies happiest memories 8-10 years ago. Miss those carefree times in mt early 20’s a lot.
So happy I have this album on vinyl! Such a beautiful album. Old flavours will always be a personal favourite. Luke described the track as after the first album this track was going towards their first album style. Real EOTS vibes
One of my favorite things to do is roll down the windows in my car, pop in my 'Ice on the Dune' CD and play "Old Flavours" on full blast. I feel like I'm the ruler of the world for 3 minutes and 54 seconds.
I can't wait for a new Empire of the Sun album, their sound is so unique, I love every single record they released despite being sonically very different !
They have a new album coming out in the next few months. If you go to their website, the entire appearance of the page changed to a floating symbol and they also have some background music playing if you click the audio button on the top right of the page. They also have a new song called "Changes" that was featured in a new movie called ricky stanicky.@@elsongs
Such an incredible sonic experience. EOTS shaped my teenage years and I definitely feel more creative and inspired when I listen to them. Luke's iconic vocal doubling is mesmerising and one of the reasons why I feel he's such a special artist. I think even though Luke and Nick are artistic in their own right, the chemistry and vision they have together is electric.

@@WaveReact No problem! I think the new album will be called "Changes" as well. They have a notification pop up on their website so you can get informed when they drop new stuff. Hopefully you can share this information with other fans of the band.
The album turns 10 in June. Personally, it's still my favourite. Awakening, Disarm, I'll be Around and Celebrate are my highlights but again no bad songs on this record...Wait, you missed Awakening though.
@@depalma1726 There's a place I visit a few times a year in a desert area. When I'm driving down the highway at night and there's hardly any other cars on the road, I cue up "I'll Be Around" and it's the perfect vibe. Then it's followed up with "Old Flavours" and I feel like my life is complete.
That blows my mind! Has it really been that long? I first heard this album on a vacation with my best friend 9 years ago on the beach in the Florida keys. He introduced it to me then. It will forever reminded me of diamondesque clear ocean waters, the sun, sand, happiness, drinks, friendship and love.
Don't mislead people. Empire of the Sun are working on a new album. Nick said last year already and a few weeks ago, they posted a picture of them in studio on their IG page.

The poorest album...way overproduced and oversaturated ...they should of used a producer to make it a bit more guitar sounding...then it would of been killer
Amazing choice! Love EOTS they make me live and feel nature in music like I was in Thailand.

The new album is called Ask That God just released in July, 26, 2024. 🎉🎉🎉
Love this. Not a bad track on any of their albums. Disarm is my favourite but I love every track.

Ice on the Dune is a favourite

Empire of The Sun has released a new album called Ask That God. Please react Zack and Ryan 🎉🎉
You completely missed Awakening doof
Ya. My bad.
Love Empire of the Sun! I have an EOTS playlist. It is sad what has happened to Nick Littlemore. 😢 Unfortunately there won’t be anymore EOTS albums. 😭
