Texas: I'm surprised y'all haven't covered The Temperature Wars yet. Ya know, the battles with Canada over the past years. They throw a little cold our way and we throw a little heat their way. Canada got me good back in Feb. 2021. I was crippled for a long time, but we got even.
We threw some 100+ degrees (40 degrees Canadian- i mean Celsius) heat their way four months later. I'm pretty sure I saw Arizona and New Mexico throwing some heat too, but I think they hit Washington, Idaho, and Wyoming instead. I know a few of mine hit the Dakota Twins accidentally (my bad Kota). Florida, Bama and Georgia said they were going to throw heat at Toronto, Quebec, and Montreal but they hit New York, Massachusetts and Vermont...not sure that was an accident though. Louisiana and Mississippi threw some at Canada, but Minnesota and Wisconsin were in the crossfire. And of course when Canada fires back, the northern states take the brunt of their cold retaliation.
The Temperature Wars have been brutal...people on both sides have been sickened, injured...killed. (sniffles) We won't even talk about when we throw the heat at the same time Canada throws the cold and they meet in the middle. When Africa joins the war it just gets worse. They drag the Caribbean into the conflict. (Cries) What did we do huh? What did any of us do to deserve this? It feels like it never ends! Nobody knows how it started. It's just an endless cycle of highs and lows. Highs and lows. Lows and highs. That moisture in the air? IS FROM OUR TEARS!
Here, all y'all talking about Fall as if TTW never existed! (sniffles again). Never forget The Temperature Wars. Never. REMEMBER THE ALAMO AND THE TEMPERATURE WARS!
AND FOR PETE'S SAKE WOULD SOMEONE TAKE THE MATCHES AWAY FROM CALIFORNIA, ALREADY? How many times do we have to tell them? DON'T PLAY WITH MATCHES! THAT GOES FOR YOU TOO COLORADO!

Midwest here - Indiana to be precise - we finally had Indian Summer last week (in the 80's) and now it looks like we are finally getting prepared for autumn. Still in the 70's today, but glimmers of chilly during the night, so we'll take it.

Yep. Then ‘Indian summer’ a hint of winter. Then autumn, false summer and waking up to subzero wind in January. Then false spring in February. I never get out my winter clothes until January. Then just guess the rest of the year. Gotta love Indiana.

Fall in Southern Oregon is so beautiful! We will have gotten some rain and the fires will be out....stunning Fall colors and changing hues in the mountains. It stays 60-70 degrees until around Halloween, when it finally will get down to maybe 20 degrees, but that is at night. Daytime temps still will be at least 50 degrees usually. Then, maybe three months of "winter" and it is back to Springtime!

I know. I'm just north of Chattanooga on the mountain and it was cold outside this morning. The leaves have started changing and falling on the ground and the squirrels are out and about getting ready for winter. I saw more of them while driving 1 mile last week than I did all summer. I'm super hot natured and I'm loving the cooler weather finally. My poor husband freezes to death. Last week I had on shorts, a tank top and flops with the AC on 70 complaining it was hot. He had on pants, a t-shirt, a flannel shirt, socks, shoes and a North Face jacket covered up with a blanket. 3 of the 4 cats were trying to convince him to share. What's scary, (and a bit TMI) my Gyn told me yesterday there's nothing wrong with my hormones, no sign of menopause yet. When that happens, we could probably raise penguins at our house.

In other parts the leaves turn beautiful colors and take turns gliding to the ground. Here, the heat and humidity grab the tree by the throat and choke it till the life drains from the leaves, leaving only dirty brown husks. Then the straight line winds come in, blowing at 60mph, and manage to blow everything into your gutters.

Southern California here; for footballers, that’s Rose Bowl country. We sprinkle in a few days of Fall in mid-late October before settling into it fully in November. Temperatures stop hitting the 70s. Then we might have a few weeks of Winter in late January before Spring hits in February. Long Spring until May… or June… before Summer takes over. I didn’t leave out the rainy season…. There isn’t one.
