    Y'all have totally stepped up your game on the actual co-ordination of repairing these cars. No more hunting for tools or supplies. This is an excellent and massively growing channel. I think maybe you need to reach out to a few suppliers for sponsorship. All motor heads love restos. And your restores are the most GENUINE on yt. I guess Lance learned wrenching from his dad - you two make a near perfect team. Christian has turned this into a first class production. I have been watching since the beginning & enjoy every single episode. Magnificent job!!!

    As a fellow owner of a '72 LeMans, I am glad to see your work on this one. Those old Pontiac 350s aren't real big on the horsepower, but seem to be pretty dependable. I had a great feeling about the startup and it didn't disappoint. My first car in the '80s was a green on green 1970 LeMans with the same engine. It was a 61,000 mile "old lady" car. I eventually found a factory 4 barrel intake off of a 455 Pontiac with the factory Rochester carb. I don't know if you're aware that there is no small or big block Pontiacs. They are all dimensionally alike. Anyway, I also went with dual exhaust on it as well. Those two upgrades made it a fun driving car. Keep on keeping on with this project! I totally dig it! I have to say that top with the ports has to be aftermarket. I understand it was probably the original owner's choice, but it added an area for rust around the portholes that probably wouldn't have been there if it was smooth. Very fixable with new aftermarket sheet metal.

  • @esrobinson5148
    @esrobinson5148 2 года назад +2

    Can't believe how well that rig has stood the test of time and how good it looks. Those rims - the perfect choice for this old beast. One heck of a car! Your mileage could well be first time round - I worked with cars I'd known since new in the late 80s and we had vehicles through the shop that looked just as leaky with only 55-60k recorded miles; if you had a Volvo drop a rear main - that brought a whole new meaning to underside gunge.

    Good show guys. Some info in case you don't know. Pontiac never offered a LeMans or any other model with port hole windows. The vinyl roof style is also non factory. The rear seat plastic is "Fingerhut" which was a clear heavy plastic people loved putting on their seats during the 60s and 70s. The drawback was it usually sunburned,turn dark brown on the top of the back seat and welding itself to the vinyl or cloth. The V8's had a weakness that i don't really think GM ever cured. The water pump timing gear housing was cast very thin between the water pump and TG. If you let the coolant get low the pump impeller would cavitate and chip pieces of casting out of the wall between the 2 cavities. If this goes on long enough water will get inside the engine and right into the oil...you know what happens then.

I can remember some of my friends in High School and what they were able to get. One guy got a rambler station wagon for $100. Nothing wrong with it. It ran just fine. I had to drive my mom's 1964 4-Door Dodge Dart with the push button transmission. Another car bought used with nothing wrong with it. My sister was talked into an MGB 2 seater. I don't think she liked it very much. My other sister got an Opal that had issues. LOL My father was always trading stuff from guns to vehicles. Never knew what he would come home with.

    I purchased a '71 Cutlass Supreme SX back in '78. Same color as your Pontiac. My dad put an HEI in it immediately as well as deleted all the smog equipment. Loved that car. When I sold it the cross member below the engine had a small crack dead center. A few years later that became an issue for the new owner.

    You guys really scored on this one, and I think I know why.
    Y'all are sowing and reaping right. You're living right, and the Lord is being good to you. It manifests itself in lots of ways.
    Remember the little rat that was living in the '59 truck? You were good to him, and that act of kindness came back to you didn't it? What you guys are up to is obviously about more than cars. You're about walking the walk, and it shows. You guys are aces!
    God bless.

    I am absolutely speechless at how beautiful that car is. I just sold a 1968 Lemans GTO clone that needed a better paint job (last dude painted it in the winter with no heat and a ugly hot wheels style paint color) but my god I miss that thing after watching this. Love it. Keep up the good work guys!

      My friend's uncle had a yellow lemans gto, pinstripped, I drove it and couldn't believe the power under the hood. Beautiful cars of that era.

    Man I really really love this car. This was my dad’s favorite car. This is the very first kind of car I learned to work on. I’ve always wanted to find a barn find 1972 Pontiac LeMans. I really love the little cabin windows on the back. Y’all are so lucky to find this car in the shape it’s in.

      I would love to find one someday before my dad passes away and be able to drive him in it and get to see his face light up. I really like the color on this one. The only thing that I don’t like is the vinyl top bc it looks like it may have rust up under it. The little cabin windows is something I’ve never seen before on any of the LeMans. I wonder if the owner had that special ordered to be made like that?

    I suddenly recognized your shop when you drive the Pontiac outside. My and my wife passed by during our Honeymoon last July (we are from Belgium) and I actually took pictures of the Le Mans sitting outside your shop. How cool !!

    Beautiful! Brings back memories for me. In high school I had a 71 Lemans GT37. Same color, same engine, same interior. Crager SS Wheels. I replaced the intake and carburator, Pontiac spread bore intake with a Holley 850 double pumper. It had a 3spd manual, I replaced it with a 4spd Muncie M22. It's a shame someone put on that "Landau" vinyl top and port hole windows. Sure do miss that car. I'll be looking forward to seeing more. I'm 63 by the way, got the car at 16 years old, that was in 1975. 👍

      Hardtop was a factory option but those opera windows were not, surprised your GT37 didn't have the 400 in it like most did. I had one when I was a teen as well, now 58 yo lol.
