    Tips for getting my 2013 RO brakes to be firm? Followed this to the best of my abilities, and the brake is a bit spongey

    Hey man I have a big question here.. I have the Formula RX and I know it need that DOT 4 brake fluid but I can only find that type of oil for cars and car gears I can not find anything for “bike brakes” can you help me with this? Thanks

    • @parktool
      @parktool  3 года назад +2

      The good thing about DOT fluid is that it is standardized and is the same for bikes as it is for cars. Just be sure to get DOT 4 as your bike calls for. Cheers!

    Can you do one for formula rx?

    • @parktool
      @parktool  4 года назад +2

      The only difference on the RX is the lever setup. The lever needs the bleed port to be pointed straight up. From there the process is the same.

    Does it work for Formula T1? I'd like to replace all the oil in the brake system

    • @parktool
      @parktool  4 года назад

      That Formula is sometimes listed as using DOT, but check your lever. The fittings are the same as other Formula brakes and are included in the BKD-1 kit. So yes, it works.

    Sir good day. Sir this DOT 4 or 5.1 brake fluids is compatible to shimano brakes? or for sram brakes only?

    • @parktool
      @parktool  4 года назад +2

      The best source of compatibility information on this type of thing is the manufacturers website. You find Shimano is mineral fluid.

    The narration specifies isopropyl alcohol, which is standard, yet the spray bottle is marked "C2H6O", which would be ethanol or drinking alcohol. I hope you're not actually wasting good booze in your workshop!

    Mmmmm.... like this kit, BUT either they need to include some sort of clamp to secure the hoses to the adapters/fittings at the ends, OR use the SRAM method of a two piece clamping mech on the end.... Because the margin between adding pressure to the syringe and blowing the hose off and showering your bike, room, tools, et al with DOT fluid.
    Grrrrrrrr.... Come on Park!

    Since when does formula use dot?

    • @parktool
      @parktool  4 года назад +1

      Formula has models for both. The Cura is mineral oil. The R1R is DOT. Look at the lever for confirmation of the fluid needed.

    Not to mention that the fluid migrates into the serrated fitting ends.... THEN, if you pull vacuum you tend to have blow-by and SUCK air into the syringe through the hose to fitting interface making you THINK you are still pulling air out of solution in the fluid IN the system....

    we will show you how to get a bank loan for a bleed kit for the high tech highly volital dot because if you dont you will have to get out a bank loan for a brand new 10 thousand dollar bike. to properly enjoy any bike riding please consult your local banker as he is the only one that is able to get you enough money to keep your bike running properly. Stay away from the easy to work with mineral oil brakes as this will cut out the banker and in turn will enable you to enjoy living within your means bike riding and enjoyment. you must consider laboring your whole life for any kind of enjoyment on these highly volotile DOT fluid to get obtain that micro benefit

      So you’re saying that bikes equipped with mineral oil brakes are being given away for free? Also , there are bikes that come in prices ranging from $100 or less to $17,000 or more. Also, I think it’s safe to say that the average price of bikes is currently closer to $1,000 to $3,500 than it is $10,000. Just an educated estimate mind you

    • @Semprefi
      @Semprefi 9 месяцев назад

      Believe it or not most people are capable of changing the fluid in their bikes without doing any damage to their bikes and I feel confident in saying that no one ever destroyed a bike while changing the fluid unless they did it on a highway and it was run over . If you were extremely ignorant or reckless the most you’re ever gonna do to damage a bike is to damage the paint on a small area around your brakes worst case scenario

    • @parktool
      @parktool  3 года назад

      The service is not too bad and their performance is much better for most people. There are definite benefits to both Hydraulic and cable actuated systems.

    • @Semprefi
      @Semprefi 9 месяцев назад

      Formula brakes are far from terrible. They’re considered one of the very best brakes in the world. Also, essentially all disc brakes for bikes are serviced the same way so there isn’t one that’s any more difficult to service than any other
