Great commentary on compliments, I feel exactly the same. Do I wear perfume for the purpose of garnering compliments? Not at all! But do I enjoy occasions where my fragrance garners positive attention? Of COURSE!
Every time I watch your channel, I almost cry because I am so inspired by you pursuing your dreams. What a fascinating thing to study perfumery ❤. I am already in awe of what you are going to achieve
I happened to be near a Nordstrom a couple weeks ago and got to smell Angels Share for the first time. It’s insane how well it captures the smell of apples. Pricey but I was definitely impressed.
OMG your back :) the way i bought Dedcool and Commodity Milk during Black Friday bc of your🥛milk perfume 🥛recommendations. ty for the advice!! would luv to see you review on asian perfume brands like Tamburins, Granhand, Nonfiction, One Day, and Rbow. 💖
I love Babycat. My decant is gone. I got Rifaqaat when I heard it was "identical" but I want to say it's not. Babycat all the way! That frankincense really gets me and of course the vanilla.
Soie Maliquis is the perfect holiday scent if anyone is considering it. Hella expensive so my friend got a spray of it on a tester strip and brought it back for me to smell and oh my god it just gave me such a warm, cozy vibe that reminds you of sitting in front of a fireplace and drinking hot cocoa while smelling chestnuts that's being roasted. It is incredible and highly recommend it to anyone who is wanting to get it and isn't afraid to drop a bit more coins.
Soie Mal pulls pretty fresh and not heavy in the warmer months for me, so thankfully I can wear it all year round. It’s one of my all time faves, signatures, emotional delights.
This is a super comforting video Emma ❄️🤍 My version of Roses Vanille is Coco Mademoiselle. It was gifted to me by my parents for Christmas last year, so I associate it with winter, the holidays, and family. I've ordered samples of Soie Malaquais, Babycat, and Rouge Malachite. Thank you for the recs!
I’m obsessed with YSL Babycat and I’ve heard Vanagloria is 99% similar for half the price…I don’t think ANYTHING can replace Babycat for me as it makes me emotional I love it so much, but wondering if you’ve tried Vanagloria and what you think??? I’ve always felt Babycat is Jude law and Cameron Diaz’s love affair in that cozy British village in the The Holiday
Thanks, this is awesome! Also I’ve been waiting and waiting to hear what you think of the new Yum Boujee Marshmallow? And how it compares to other gourmand scents like Kayali’s other scents, Oriana, Love Don’t be Shy, and Bianco Latte 🤞🤞
philippines mentioned! HAHAHA ANYWAY, in line with what you said about babycat, living in SEA where it's humid and hot all year round, and a lot of perfumes tend to become cloying in that climate, it sucks that the pool of fragrances we can wear is "limited" for lack of a better term.
I just sampled xerjoff - bouquet ideale and I think it's such a good winter fragrance. Warm, spicy, sweet. A lot of spicy fragrances to me come off medicinal (I guess some scent associations with things like saffron, nutmeg etc.) and this one doesn't!
Girl ! You have to go to Le Bon Marché in Paris and go to their Dries Van Noten corner, they have a 3x10 ml travel set and you can mix and match the scents ! I got 3x10ml of Soie Malaquais :)
Love these recs! I actually got the travel size of the genesis one and it’s lovely. It is a statement perfume imo. Would love a compliment video. I love a compliment
Some of these scents (cough genesis cough) come in travel sizes from the house, so if you like the sample but just can't commit to a full bottle, look for those too!
Apparently this is an unpopular opinion but (it's actually a dupe I have) La Vie Est Belle has been my favourite winter perfume - I can't wear a lot of woody/spicy scents and something about the praline with blackcurrant feels wintery to me
Loubirouge is probably my all time favorite perfume! It’s so pretty and it’s an easy reach, however I can go nose blind to it pretty quick. If you layer the Maker’s Naked with Guerlain’s Spiritueuse Double Vanille, it’s a stronger version of Loubirouge. I’ll have to try that lotion!!
Emmaaaaaaa 🎉🎉🎉 this sounds so crazy but I missed you omg! I’ve hit my cutoff for buying perfumes this year but def adding Saint Honoré to my sample list! I’ve been trying to find something slightly sweet with sandalwood in it for my Mom because she likes forest scents (not exactly wet forest but the woody aspect of the forest) not sure if Genesis would be a good choice. Anyways I hope you’re doing well in France, happy holidays!
Interesting thing about Penhaligon's Eau the Audacity and YSL Babycat.... Both were created by Dominique Ropion and they are very similar (I have both). However, there are differences. Audacity is softer, rounder and has what I would describe as a coconut note but I've not seen others describe that. The "burned rubber" note that some people perceive (I did at first and I initially hated this scent) is somewhat less prominent here. Audacity is gorgeous and addictive, but not quite as long lasting as Babycat. Like all Penhaligon's I've tried, lovely scents but poor performers. Babycat is slightly sharper and more long lasting. A "budget" version but really excellent "dupe" is Paris Corner's Rifaaqat, which is gorgeous. That has less of the burned rubber note and is soft and full and rich. It's about 1/10th of the price too.
I blind bought BabyCat bc it was an incredible price. It’s my new fav winter scent and am super happy to be in New England and able to wear it wo feeling overwhelmed (I was very nervous when I got it in Aug and it was a beast). While I don’t buy scents to garner compliments, I’ve only received a few and never on the same scent. So 🤷♀️ but compliments are always nice 😂
Babycat & Eau The Audacity are sisters not the same. Dominic Ropion actually created Vanagloria first which is another sister so Babycat isn't actually the original! I have and love all 3 & they have distinct differences when you compare but are clearly the same family.
OMG the auto-generated French audio turned on, I did not expect it haha ! Have you ever tried Hyper Musc from Courrèges ? With the mint note, it feels cold and wintery but still very sweet with the vanilla, it makes it almost smell like chocolate :) Definitely one of my faves for winter time, mixed with Tihota it gets me lots of compliments :) Have a nice day and I am sending you lots of love :)
I have Babycat and Eau The Audacity. They smell the same, but if you smell them from the bottle, they don't. I want Angels Share, it's next on my list. Hate Libre in all forms.
Hi Emma, BabyCat (I love the scent) gave me such a skin rash ... took a week to go away! I can not use it for some reason even if all ingredients listed are present in other perfumes that I can use without problem.
I recently discovered the EOS Vanilla Cashmere scent through their shave products, and they work great and smell amazing! Do you have any recommendations for perfumes that smell the same?
About compliments, there are only two perfumes I ever get compliments on (and they are both so basic 😂). I can try every boujee expensive perfume tok scent, but I only ever get complimented if I’m wearing D&G Light Blue or Glossier You.
Babycat & eau de audacity are both made by Dominique Ropion. But lately his name was removed from fragrantica database as perfumer behind eau de audacity.
Have you smelled Rifaaqat from Paris Corner? It is such good and affordable dupe for Babycat! Another very unike vanilla is Imperium from Electimuss. So gorgeous.
I don’t know if you’ll see this, so if you see this comment elsewhere that’s why, but I would love if you would review the Hareem-al-sultan perfume oils that went viral a few years ago, I’d love to hear your breakdown of that trio!
Hey Emma! I love your videos and this video made me definitely want to try a lot of perfumes, I ordered a bunch of samples! I don't know if you will see this comment but, I was wondering if you could help me find a certain scent, it is very specific but, kind of like a second skin cold scent? I really love the smell of my husband when he comes in after being in the cold and he comes in smelling like cold icy air but also a bit like sweet musk? All the other "cold air" scents have menthol and pine in it, which isn't what I'm looking for - just pure cold icy air with a hint of a sweet musk scent, no green notes.
I love your videos! I'm debating a bottle of Soie Malaquis, would you say that it could be a signature scent for all year round? I'm also moving to a humid country so I'm trying to keep that in mind.
emma! which FB perfumes have you taken with you to france? i’m moving from canada to the uk and im curious to know how you’ve packed them on your trip? i’m torn between taking my faves with me and risking their lives, to leaving them home to keep them safe lol
Roses Vanille is one of my favorite Christmas/winter scents ❄️🎄 Out of the other ones mentioned I’d like to try Saint Honoré. And I’m curious to try Eau the Audacity. Thanks for the suggestions, it’s always fun to add new perfumes to my sample list!
hey Emma! you may have already received this question, but I was wondering what course you're taking at ISIPCA bc ik they have many, so I was curious which one you picked :)
Perfume for compliments concerns me because so many people have allergies or get bad migraines because of perfume, I don't want people to have a bad reaction because of me and my perfume. Most of the time, I just wear scents at home. I can't wear perfume at work because there are signs about someone having severe allergies.😢
Yeah it's the "private collection" so it's only at select retailers. You can maybe look up where to find it on YSL's website! Or else you can get a decant online
Compliments: we all enjoy compliments on anything from someone else -- it makes you feel good. Of course, we want compliments on perfumes we've bought and love, but I don't live for them. I stopped following someone who CONSTANTLY talked about how specific (most) perfumes will get you compliments... Irritating and it's a very subjective thing not applicable to everyone😏✌🏾

Angels’ share is definitely a masterpiece. I think it’s the only perfume that I ever smelled where I said “wow” out loud
YESSSS UR BACK!!!! (even tho it's just been a month. Parasocial relationship goes hard fr)
lol truth shes one of my favs
So true that compliments spark conversation… It’s nice to be able to talk about this hobby with others. Not a lot of people get it 😅
YES exactly! Compliments open conversation for our niche hobby!
I happened to be near a Nordstrom a couple weeks ago and got to smell Angels Share for the first time. It’s insane how well it captures the smell of apples. Pricey but I was definitely impressed.
Really? I tried it so many times. I don't feel like that
I respect your love for apple but I don’t get people loving that note. You smell like fruit?
@@joshmercado4181It's not like a green apple. It's more of a cooked warm spicy apple which is beautiful. I also hate the fresh apple type.
I shouldn't be saying this but there are many great dupes out there... 🫣
I smelled the original and got the dupe lol kismet magic and I’m very happy and not broke 😅

The only Blake movie I love
Soie Mal pulls pretty fresh and not heavy in the warmer months for me, so thankfully I can wear it all year round. It’s one of my all time faves, signatures, emotional delights.
Does it remind you of any other fragrances you've smelled?
@@safroz2I have it and I smelt at least a 1000 other perfumes lately, nothing alike.
It's so cool to listen to you talk! You know so much and describe things so well ❤
I like angels share too, so luxurious yet comforting. I imagine it could cause people headache though if overspray
This is a super comforting video Emma ❄️🤍
My version of Roses Vanille is Coco Mademoiselle. It was gifted to me by my parents for Christmas last year, so I associate it with winter, the holidays, and family.
I've ordered samples of Soie Malaquais, Babycat, and Rouge Malachite. Thank you for the recs!

I totally agree! And thank you:)
Your videos are so addictive!

I just sampled xerjoff - bouquet ideale and I think it's such a good winter fragrance. Warm, spicy, sweet. A lot of spicy fragrances to me come off medicinal (I guess some scent associations with things like saffron, nutmeg etc.) and this one doesn't!

My fav winter scent was a limited edition Skylar perfume called Caramel Alps. It’s salty caramel and woody!
Apparently this is an unpopular opinion but (it's actually a dupe I have) La Vie Est Belle has been my favourite winter perfume - I can't wear a lot of woody/spicy scents and something about the praline with blackcurrant feels wintery to me
I have the dossier dupe of La Vie Est Belle, and I absolutely agree! Very winter appropriate
i’ve been studying for exams to all your videos recently and they just make my day so much better 🫶

I would love an introductory video to some of the terminology around perfume. I'm a newbie and would love an explanation of the jargon!
I love Saint honore! Its so delicious, like gingerbread.
Love ❤ Saint Honore! I don’t get Nutella at all. Reminds of Yankee Candle Christmas Eve scent. Just more gourmand.
would you ever review all the lush body sprays?

Another very unike vanilla is Imperium from Electimuss. So gorgeous.
Hey! Love your videos! I love The Knot from Bottega Veneta and they stopped making it, any similar recommendations?
Oakcha has a YSL babycat dupe
Dominique Ropion created both YSL's BabyCat and Penhaligon's Eau the Audacity.
Yes I believe someone pointed this out already! Love their work:))

Can you do a eggnog recommendation
I haven’t really tried eggnog!
Kerosene Winter of 99 is this for me!
Vanagloria (also by Dominique Ropion) came first. YSL is also a copycat (ba doom ching!).
What did the taxi driver say when you apologized for babycat?
What…no patchouli featured????😊
Yep, I’m intolerant to patchouli
