Watching this video, I noticed that in this version of Ratchet, they have addressed the issue of the feet protruding in the rear of the vehicle mode. It's a cosmetic detail, but it's much appreciated.
I think Hasbro, because of their habit of releasing new versions of some G1 characters every several months, is in danger of conditioning G1 collectors into continous waiting for "ultimate versions" of G1 characters (and not buying current versions). Though probably it won't make huge dent in their profit since I've read somewhere that ~20% of TF sales come from collectors (and TF as a brand is tiny fraction of Hasbro's income).
Both molds are fun to transform, but the SS86 is the better version in the looks and engineering department, my only problem with the SS86 mold is the use of clear plastic in the tabs of the vehicle mode, but even so the SS86 is a great figure.
This. And with the money saved by only using white plastic with blue paint apps for the windows, they're bound to have the proper red stripe on the ambulance mode. But will it be worth the wait and the added cost from including Brawn?

Definitely looks more toon accurate but I don't plan on getting rid of the Siege and Earthrise versions. I definitely want the SS version but I see the others as different takes on the same character that are easily recognizable as them and as Cybertronian versions of them too. I have kept most of my older figures even when newer ones come out just to have for comparison. On display, I think of them as mulitverse versions of the same character.
that's awesome bro! as for me I try to constantly purge my collection just to keep only the figures I love 100% once a figure becomes obsolete, I purge it as quickly as possible but sometimes I envy other collectors who have kept the older figures... they look great on any display and they kinda of show the history and evolution of the figures...

I have the Walgreens Siege version and the Amazon Earthrise two pack version. I bought the Nonnef G1-esque adapter for both Ironhide and Ratchet that includes the wheels and the med bay/battle station "tank".I also have this SS86 one on preorder. I believe that a great display would be this SS86 version with the Siege tools/backpack and the Nonnef med bay upgrade! Wich means that you need three versions of Ratchet to have a definitive edition!!! 😡
Im big on ratchet/ironhide I got both Madterpieces siege ironhide and both earthrise figures as well as the studio series. This really is thevbest version. Oddly also the easiest to get.

You know Ironhide from the 86 Ironhide and Prowl set does not use clear plastic right? They have the mold they just refuse to use it right now. Hasbro knows about the tolerance issues and the color matching. I'm pretty sure a few months or a year from now, Hasbro will put out the updated updated version of Ratchet or put it in a 2 pack. If you haven't noticed, that is what Hasbro is doing now, repaints: Ratchet, Spiderman multiverse etc. Large figs: Ultramagnus, Hydra stomper and 2 packs.

same bro... but wierdly enough, both those figures including their siege versions are still commanding a relatively high price on the secondary and tertiary markets...
They're still high in value because they didn't produce enough of those figures. I don't know why Hasbro ever learns when the secondary market are selling the figures for three or four times, It's original price they should jump on the conveyor belt and make more of the figures.
