    The SS86 Ironhide beats ER by a long mile, though it’s a little annoying that he’s slightly shorter than that version. Hope Studio Series as a whole gets back on its feet and produce more live-action movie characters, the leaked images of ROTB SS Airazor looks cool and good quality plus the bird mode looks a lot better than Kingdom’s. Really hoping to see Scourge and Mirage soon in the line.

    This is easily the best g1 Ironhide to date. If his head was a little bit better I’d be really excited to pick this up. I just can’t get over the fact that in the movie they took great care to make sure his helmet was on model and the toy ignores that. The lack of cheek guards is really distracting to me.

    Even though I grew up with the bayverse Ironhide, this new 86 Ironhide is very intriguing. It doesn't parts form unlike the ER, the roof actually integrated into the transformation, the posability is great. The only issue I worry is the clear plastic.

With how long it takes for them to release these waves (I wonder if they brought more people to work or rotb figures) the studio series line should be able to last a while longer especially if they do a bunch of bumblebee movie seeker repaints and more ss86 figures.

    "...and not [treated] like something that if you know just know better, can be dealt with"
    I mean yeah it's definitely annoying that they went this route, but do you really gotta rag on people that are happy to fix it? what sense does that make?
    as a side note, the saw you speak of is 10 bucks on Amazon. it's a .008" Razor saw. handy tool for a wide range of thin cuts. another one of which was moving Trailbreaker's arm flaps to the sides of the legs to distinguish him further from Hoist, but if you're not one for modifiying your stuff, fair enough. "Copium" isn't for everyone

    • @PerspectiveEnd
      @PerspectiveEnd  Год назад +1

      I'm not Ragging on the people happy to fix it, if you are more power to you, but I've been seeing people say that it's not actually a problem with the figure, and it's this super easy fix, that you can do with like no effort, so you really shouldn't worry about the Monoskirt.
      And to me that feels really disingenuous. I mean it is selling the figure to people who aren't sure that they want it, under the pretense that the fix is going to be far easier than it is.
      Anyone who goes through the process of altering this, has my respect, but when the fix is so hard, I feel a little firm pushback towards the notion of acting to others like it's super simple, is needed.

    • @TheLazyEyebrow
      @TheLazyEyebrow Год назад +3

      @@PerspectiveEnd idk perhaps your copy came from a mold with every so slightly different tolerances for that pin I guess. I hadn't tried the hip skirt yet as I wasn't going to permanently mod anything until I started filming later this week, and to be fair, the pin on the skirt is a lot stiffer than the pin on the front bumper, but even so, I just got it out with a fork and a pair of pliers once it got started. aside from the cheap saw I outlined above, it's really low on the complexity scale to complete that mod. say like a 3/10
      1 being removing something on a friction joint
      10 being the complete robot surgery you outlined with your Optimus
      ngl, that comparison was a bit like saying that piercing your ears is exactly like doing your own leg amputation.

    • @PerspectiveEnd
      @PerspectiveEnd  Год назад

      That comparison was not Serious, that was merely hyperbolic for entertainment purposes. The Copium thing was just for Entertainment purposes. I'm just tying to phrase my thoughts in the most interesting ways possible.
      It's not the pin I'm worried about, though that is more than most people have ever had to go through to alter a toy already. I can Knock out a pin no problem, the problem is that there is no clear location to cut it, and doing it wrong would be both very ugly, and also have the potential to ruin the figure.
      This isn't like the Siege Chromia, where the leg kibble can be fixed by just rotating it the wrong way till the Lug that keeps it in the dumbest place possible sheers off. That's easy, requires no effort or tools, and basically can't go wrong. That's an issue that I'd be happy to treat as not a big deal since it's so easy to fix.
      There's no issue that a little kid is going to hear that advice, and then slash their hand open.

    • @TheLazyEyebrow
      @TheLazyEyebrow Год назад +2

      @@PerspectiveEnd in general for that sort of thing? yeah absolutely
      if the fix involved a micrometer and saying "measure 6mm off the top to this point, and 3 from the bottom to here, draw a line and there's your cut point" sure. that would be way too much to ask the general person
      but this isn't that. we're talking about taking a saw (heck, Sam_makes_toys used an exacto knife and a bit of patience) and placing it in an already started pilot line and gently moving the saw back and forth. the only real way to screw it up is if you've never touched a saw before, and I reckon if a 12 year old was in that situation, they'd be more inclined to request assistance from the owner of the saw, i.e. their parent

    • @PerspectiveEnd
      @PerspectiveEnd  Год назад

      What started plotline, there is no started line. At least not on mine. There's the sculpting, but based on the line of the sculpt it doesn't exactly lead to a logical place to finish the cut.
      If you need tool's that you may not have as a normal non customizer, and if children need supervision, I would not call that a No Big Deal to the Point of Being Unremarkable customization.

    As for your comment about the SS Shatter and Dropkick, given SS’s rule for size scaling, it would be difficult for them to give us two live action movies figures that are deluxe scaled triple changers. This is why I’m pretty sure they sold each of their modes separately, because trying to make triple changers at that small of a size would be a mess to deal with.

      One of the issues of SS’s movie scaled figures is that they made their deluxe figures so small. Remember that classes aren't supposed to be sizes anymore like the old releases, but rather engineering and parts count on how many steps of their transformation and price point. That's what Perspective meant. SS86 "Voyager" Hot Rod and Ironhide are that while still being in height/size next to a "Deluxe" class figure. Now imagine Shatter and Dropkick in that scale but still retaining the "Deluxe" class size they're meant to be, but with actual triple changer transformation engineering and STILL can dwarf Bumblebee's size.
      I hated that class idea, but that's the only way to go.

      @@OfficialFinnTDK Size classes still exist in SS. But their size classes are ranked based on their sizes in the movies. Shatter and Dropkick are meant to be around Bumblebee’s height, so they’re going to be in the same size class as him.
      And no amount of engineering money is gonna allow Hasbro to gives us Shatter and Dropkick as actual triple changers. Since they’re the size of Bumblebee-meaning they’ll be placed in the deluxe class height range-they’d not only be too small to give them all three of their modes, but since they’re live action movie designs they’d be too complex to figure out, especially at such a small size.
      I mean, heck, Hasbro has never given us live action triple changer figures ever. Even when we first got Drift, and we got a larger figure of him, that figure only turned into the helicopter.
      In order to get a live action triple changer figure, they’d have to have Masterpiece levels of money to accomplish it. As, again with Drift, we’ve only now gotten a Drift that’s an actual triple changer because a 3rd party company made a masterpiece figure of him.
      The fact of the matter is that we’re never gonna get any SS figures of live action Shatter and Dropkick that can triple change, especially when they’re dictated to be small figures under SS’s movie scaling guidelines. It’s just impossible.

    0:23 Well there’s also the Fallen, TLK Hot Rod, and TLK Crosshairs.
    Though perhaps part of why the numbers for the Bayverse SS figures are dwindling is because we’re getting to a point where we’re wrapping up on characters to use. Other than maybe attempting background characters from DOTM, all that’s left is AOE and TLK. And given some of the designs from those movies, it will take a bit to work them out into updated figures.
    For instance, I’d imagine Hasbro would want to give an AOE/TLK Optimus the same transformation treatment they gave to their SS AOE Galvatron. Then you got the Dinobots, the TLK Decepticons, and then some slight retools for the Autobots in those two movies.
    And of course, once Bayverse is done-unless they’re able to redo some figures-all we’ll have for SS is 86 and and the movies that will come after ROTB if it does well.

      I love the Siege figure it's great, but I do have to ask, why does everyone keep saying the heights are different? They aren't these are the same height. Like exactly the same height.
      The reasons you should be considering this thing, are the superiors posing, and the better transformation, how ever this doesn't look as good as the Siege one, and probably looks less accurate, height isn't a factor because they are the same.

    I feel like I got back into this at the right time and I love that they are doing 86-style figures (even for Legacy, like with Blaster!) While Ironhide might not be perfect, he’s unmistakably Ironhide. I’m probably not picking this up because I have Studio Series Bumblebee Ironhide. However, if I didn’t have that one, this would be a no-brainer pickup.

    I'm really, REALLY hoping we get an SS86 Ultra Magnus that looks more screen accurate, isn't as dumpy and limited in the posing area, doesn't do the stupid white Prime with battle armor gimmick, and has a vehicle mode that isn't a complete clusterf***.
    That being said, I think this Ironhide is much, MUCH better than Earthrise Ironhide, and it's especially nice that people who missed out on ER Ironhide (which is pretty much everyone except me apparently) can now get their hands on a G1 style Ironhide.

    • @PerspectiveEnd

      The Kingdom was very accurate, but you are right about his posing, that sucked. Also his face does look too much like Andy Dick.

  • @Natee178

    Tbh for me studio series 86 has always been a mixed bag when it comes to accuracy. Sure Perceptor and maybe hotrod are pretty close, but the dinobots aren’t, Kup isn’t, blur isn’t, Starscream isn’t. Really they haven’t put 100% screen accuracy first for most of the 86 line so I think this gets close enough. The only way I see them getting any closer is combining this thing’s aesthetics with the partsforming of ER so you can slim the legs down, but the all encompassing transformation is appealing to me with this one.
    I really like this guy quite a bit, I just really get nervous about the clear plastic. I shaved down those clips so it didn’t require the force of a thousand men to transform him. I’d be really curious what a buzzworthy release with no clear plastic looks and feels like, seeing as color matching may be easier too.

    • @PerspectiveEnd
      @PerspectiveEnd  Год назад

      I think the Dinobots are reasonably close, but they do have some clear weird Liberties being Taken, especially Grimlock, with the other two being a bit closer.
      I don't think the limbs being too wide are part of the problem here.
      I'm not too worried about clear plastic my self.
