We call them "poop-booth" in Slovakia and it's pretty common when you have a little mountain shed or cottage just for sleeping and grilling with your family at the weekends 😀
I tried playing an off the grid cottage family, but I got SO frustrated that bust the dust came with 5 vacuums, but ZERO brooms. I know that you can upgrade the vacuum to work off the grid, but it’s so immersion breaking.
for sure. the dust bunnies are op and the moodlets are... broken, ironically. i had to turn the dust off because my sims would not function with it enabled, it's kind of pathetic. zero has mods that removes dust bunnies which helps but the pack still has a ways to go
@@kerenb14 Zero also has a broom override for the dust system that allows you to sweep the dust instead of using the vacuums. You can still use the vacuum if you want to, but it's nice for historical gameplays. It's in their "Historical Mods" page on their Patreon and it's the Mop the Dust package.
I agree, but I actually had a little bit of fun with it by adding a solar panel and just having my Sim RUN to go vacuum for 2 seconds whenever we generated a power surplus.

@@alicepasolini4403 That's what I normally use, I didn't realize they'd start automatically when there was a power surplus though, that would have been a lot easier!

I’m glad they have each other but it really confuses me that he would want to move to the US. I would give anything to get out of this country. I have no way to though
about barn shading (as someone who's grandma owns a farm) cows will leave a mess, dirt will get torn up, it's not going to look nice. like if you want the aesthetic of looking clean what you did looks great but realistically it's going to be pretty dirty
Also: chickens will eat/kill ALL the grass and weeds in their area

I always add wall shelves in my off the grid houses to place lights on. It's super helpful to keep other surfaces clutter free and for small rooms.

I once played too much Minecraft and was going around my house turning lights on everywhere so that "mobs wouldn't spawn", only when I was done did I realize what I was actually doing

Hi, i was just thinking about the sims at 4am this morning:
Maybe you could do a "Flex Room" - Challenge.
1. Spin the wheel for a decor/style and either for the number of sims living there or the number of rooms besides the ones that are necessary anyways
2. Find rooms in the gallery to fit that style
3. You can't change anything, just place the rooms needed (and with that connect all)
4. Roof everything and make the outside look good 😀

Could I get a happy birthday (my birthday is tomorrow)
when doing terrain paint, I usually just put dirt/darker paint around the areas that the sims would have walked around the most. Like I just try to think about where the ground would be the most "disturbed" and I paint those areas with dirt or whatever.
it makes me smile sm to know this is prerecorded, i hope you and dan are having a nice time rn
im just waiting for this pack to go on sale, so I can enjoy all this "cottage-ness" myself
How much is it in wild wood now so my pc at home?
If you want to make it more realistic, here are some tips from the small cottages I have been in that were built before electricity was readily available:
- fireplace(s) are placed in a central part of the building to spread warmth evenly
- the fireplace and the stove are often placed back to back and share the chimney
- if the house has several fireplaces: it was because there were multiple households and they were sectioned off from each other; and the fireplaces then also often shares a chimney

I’m playing off-grid simple living, Cottage Living works really well with Eco Lifestyle and Laundry Day... I’ve got animals, veggies, solar panels, wind turbines, candle-making, off-grid cooking, washing line... plenty to do to stop Sim boredom when you have moments when you’re not generating enough electricity to run the computer etc!
Holiday pack has a lot of off-grid candles that I like to use. Some of them can also be enlarged without glitching.
Bit of a video idea - Can you get rich by running a retail business in The Sims 4. It utilizes the retail portion of Get To Work. Imagine running a clothing store, collectibles store, or even a bakery or cafe. Would be pretty hilarious if it was like a Rags to Riches type of thing... a Rags to Retail if you say. I love the videos a bit of a while back when you did something similar but it being a restraunt. I did that thing with one of my sims - Georgia Blank and it was... interesting. Georgia falling in love with a staff member and took his money and use it to make the restraunt more appealing. The restruant is named The Sleepery with the gimmick being that everyone except the staff wears their sleepwear attire.
You should play on a lot with every single challenge enabled 🤣 the chaos that would ensue hahahah

I'm doing that in my most recent game, but it's not that bad. I recently got City Living, but no broken objects yet... maybe that's because my sim only has a shower as far as plumbing objects go. Less than 1 day in though, I got the green circles from Creepy Crawlies... but I lucked out, my Sim got better on their own.
I think the more plumbing items and appliances you have would lead to more problems in that. And for food, I've just had my sim fish, then cook it on the campfire.

A super expensive, off the grid tiny home is super realistic actually, given the tiny home trend is basic trailers but make it 'gram aesthetic using daddy's credit card
I've been playing a cottage core off the grid household and I've just stacked it full of challenges and it is so much fun 🙂
We need better off the grid ceiling lights!
Or at least have them add one Base Game ceiling light.
The Jungle Adventure chandelier is my favorite option to use. And I hope they make that Cats & Dogs barnyard wall candle work off the grid. It has a candle in in, why isn't it functional off the grid?
And in once comment, I was made aware that Vampires does have an off the grid ceiling light, but I don't have that pack.
I'd also like it if off the grid stove's ovens would work. And the addition of a base game windmill or two. And a notebook or typewriter that allows for book writing sans power.

Just a tip turn on move objects and then you can layer the lights so you can have more then 1 but it looks like one
I went to Florida once I didn't see any alligators or sunshine so I'm currently in the process of consulting a lawyer in regards to suing the state of Florida for false advertisement 😡😡

Since she's using the special version of the game with the watermark, she can't upload to the gallery. I know she plans on uploading them eventually, but I'm not sure if they can just be transferred over to the real game once the pack is released or if she has to manually remake everything, so it might take a while.

this might be odd but i haven’t been able to watch youtube for a week and i’m finally able to and watching kaylas videos that i’ve missed is making me feel like i’m seeing a friend for the first time in a while.
Lolol i build a lot of cottage and Victorian/Edwardian homes, so I utilize those candles every time I play, so hearing Simsie express her frustration is wild to me xD especially since there aren't many good, neutral candle options. Sims needs more generic candelabras and single candles

Every time simsie says she doesn't know how to use the rug then deletes it, i feel like I found myself liking rug as it was? Lmao I love the rug because I feel like no matter the swatch you choose it will look good in the space because it's not so much an accessory as it is a decoration like a painting. I really like it!
One tip: If the roof part is floating you can use 0 XD like to make everything go up and down
It's builds like this I wish The Sims 4 would make Offgrid Typewriters. Would be nice to be able to do the writing career while fully offgrid. Maybe one day they will come out with an "Going Offgrid Kit" and my dreams will come true if it comes with a typewriter and you have to buy ink, and a solar powered waterproof radio (I dont want free headphones 😂), and a flashlight that sits on tables and blinks occasionally when needing batteries replaced. Also I would like an upgrade option available for campfires and bonfires that won't constantly catch seats on fire (Some of us do know how to prevent forest fires 👈) ❤🌲🌳

So from what I've seen of cows is that they normally stay under the shade like a tree and they eat a lot plus they move a lot so under trees and where their barn is would have the most dirt plus they all normally stay with each other so you would have a giant spot of dirt and then blend into just normal grass. Hope that helps and sorry if my wording is werid 😅

I'm honestly super suprised but the wall candles from the My Wedding Stories game pack are actually super good at lighting up a room
I'm not a fan of both the pack and candles(in the sims) usually but these really suprised me and my entire house is littered with them

There is more off the grid lighting, it doesn't all show up. There is a chandlier that is candles. I used it in my off the grid house.
It would be so awesome to see a legacy challenge in this type of lot! It might be too much tho given you have to do literally everything, but you wouldn’t necessarily have a lot of bills given lack of electric!

It does feel like she's been gone longer than expected, but I don't think she'd leave right now. This is something she seems to really love doing, she seems to have really good and honest communication with her fanbase, and she just released some merch so I feel she's kind of committed. Hopefully some of that is comforting to you. :)
