@@Caio-sw7hh well yeah but we already have clothes made for the dogs, foxes were added in cats and dogs but only have specific use now for cottage living, so i think dressing a fox with cottage living exclusive clothes makes more sense then using it for dogs when you can use cats and dogs for that!

You're absolutely right about the diet-related traits. Sims Team should give us more ways to build these characters, I don't see how a diet preference defines 1/3 of one's personality.
I feel like they could easily fit it into likes and dislikes! You can keep the same reactions to vegetables, while making them preferences like music and colors.
Its less preference with being lactose intolerent and a necessity. And you need to tell people. Or else you suffer. My poor mother couldnt eat diary or red meat so I speak from experience

And the likes and dislikes should be like more effective, like your sim listens to a genre they don't like and have a bad mood for a longer while, or fav colors, your sims wears their fav color and they're happy and when the sim is in a room as an example, there's a furniture or so, in a color that's disliked and the mood again changes to a bad one again, yk?

the lactose intolerance and vegetarian traits should be moved to the likes and dislikes section.... which does mean they should add an additional trait to city living and cottage living
Cottage living is a thing i'd hate in real life, but can romanticize the hell of in the sims.

I feel like it would be cool if the lactose intolerance is something you don't know until you play its kinda randomized. Lets say that your sim eats yogurt and starts to feel.... sick, then there will be a pop up that would say that something like "oh your sim is lactose intolerant, would you like to keep these settings?" idk this is just the first thing that came to mind

there are tons of hidden traits like that in the sims! the most famous one is the fruitcake trait, which randomly decides whether your sim loves or hates fruitcake. it would be easy to make a hidden trait like that.

I think the country kitchen kit was a teaser for this pack. There are new kitchen items in this pack as well

I feel like the recent home decorator game pack was really targeting builders, and as someone who doesn’t build I’m so glad we finally have some new exciting gameplay ! As much as building is a part of the game it’s still most of all a life simulator and the gameplay is really lacking so I’m excited :D

I’m the opposite. I get so bored with gameplay but I love building. I think with this pack I’m the most excited about the gameplay, though the debug for this one is amazing!! So I’m super excited for my cottage core dream but I’m really excited for chickens and the grocery aspect! I can’t wait!
I really like how they separated the challenges from the other lot traits. I think they should do something similar with the actual sim traits. That way we can have more room for other traits. Maybe something like "quirks." It would just make sense and I know the entire Sims community has been wanting more traits for a long time anyway.
I remember in Sims Medieval your sims had a fatal flaw which unlocked specific quest lines and stuff, and once you finished the quest line you'd be able to change your fatal flaw into a really positive trait. It'd be really cool to have that in TS4, it seems weird that sims only have one specific life goal.
@@bunnyvoid9272 Yeah! It makes the Sims seem less dimensional than they have been in previous versions of the game. I would love to see the ability for our Sims to have character development and flaws that need work. It would help me at least to get actually invested in my Sims.
@@bunnyvoid9272 Older Sims games had so much more personality to them and so much more to do.. Medieval was great since it had the sandbox bit but also a more story-based bit as well. I loved all the spinoffs.. Urbz, Castaway, Medieval, etc. I think I liked them more because there were a lot more objectives to do while also taking care of your sim. I don't like that Sims 4 is basically entirely a sandbox.. if you aren't causing it to happen, it doesn't really happen. That's why Kayla enjoys the things that add chaos to her series. They help break up the monotony and feel like things are just happening. Like the toilet setting itself on fire? Yeah she could get rid of it, but it's fun when out of nowhere there's a fire in the house. Same with the cow plant and the pirahnas.. it's fun that Sims just do these things and suddenly you're like "WHAT IS GOING ON?!.. WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT?!" It's almost like if you don't *try* to make it this way Sims 4 is just a "perfect life simulator" basically. Nothing bad really ever happens unless you like purposefully set it up.. you can't even be robbed anymore or anything..

I think the mismatched furniture patterns are intentional. I live in England in the countryside, and if you go into any cottages with old fashioned decor, that's often the style.

I love cottage living because there’s so much more to do. Canning, gardening, you have to cook everything yourself, it’s so nice. I spent 7 hours playing it yesterday, before that I rarely spent most of the day playing.

I like the idea of having diet preferences instead of traits, but I'm happy they added lactose intolerance because you can kind of make a vegan sim now if you combine vegetarian and lactose intolerant! Also, I wish they had let you have at least like 3 cows or maybe 2 cows and a Llama.

Lol, Ive literally spent three whole hours in the grocery store every month just so I can contemplate if I want to go through with the pain after I buy some milk and a tub of ice cream. I love anything dairy so being lactose intolerant is a nightmare for me. I like the trait, I just dont like feeling attacked by it whenever I lay eyes on it

Maybe it could have been a self sufficient aspiration about growing your own produce and cooking/canning using it and a farmer/rancher aspiration about raising animals

vegetarian and lactose intolerance should be included in a new area of dietary preferences or restrictions!
They could make a whole lifestyle section that has things that make sims be more representative of real people. Add dietary restrictions but also add in things like allergies and illnesses. That could even link into disabilities which would add some nice representation to the game too. I know some mods have traits that are for ADHD , ptsd and others but it would be nice to have a section devoted to that as well as physical disabilities or restrictions .
I just use mods to let me use more traits
i love how this pack actually enhances general gameplay like seasons does!!! well, i guess just for my preferences since I’m obsessed with realistic food and cooking gameplay plus SO MANY NEW RECIPESSSS! and the way it expanded gameplay for kids too is beautiful. i cant wait to go virtual grocery shopping.

The "lot challenges" idea really could and should have been integrated into Cas with diet restrictions/ preferences... especially with the vegetarian and lactose intolerance, maybe a gluten free idk

It isn't, just from a culture standpoint - they've set this pack in a Simified version of England, and homeschooling isn't much of a thing in the UK at all. What might have been nice though is if they included a second world so you could get a version of country living with a Simified Iowa for example. Then I feel like the homeschool thing would make a bit more sense
@@neilbiggs1353 that’s fair but I also don’t think people dress their chickens in hats or magically dye their cows and llamas rainbow colors to customize their milk and wool 😉
For real though, I am likening it more to an era where folks sustained their own land and food rather than had jobs outside of the home. In that sense having homeschooling would be ideal because the kids would be helping around the homestead and learning those hands on skills rather than leaving everyday.
@@Chet_Thornbushel To be fair to the sims team, they try to get cultural details right, while having fun with things they can make absurd. I would love it if they did a better sense of ethnicity for characters though, like if you made an NPC family of Korean or Nigerian heritage, the next generation would use names of that culture.
This pack is really about that romanticised view of small towns that people move to to escape the rat race, though it would be interesting if at some point they did some packs about historical settings. Could you imagine playing a generation in the wild west, then descendents of theirs in prohibition, then a group ion the 60s...

I DEFINITELY agree about the food preferences being a separate thing!!! 3 traits isn't enough to add in food preferences/allergies! Sims already lack personality, so taking one of those spots to fart more when you drink milk isn't really enough for me.
(Also, I'm lactose intolerant - I definitely know there's more to it than farting but still)
YES!!! I think a lot about how beeing vegetarian is a TRAIT on the sims 4, I'm vegetarian and I never made me being vegetarian because it's not a personality trait, it's just an option, and I really wish we had a separate option to pick our diet preferences.

Id like to see diet preferences where you could have vegetarian, lactose intolerant, spicy food, salty food, sweet tooth etc. That way if they eat their fave meal they are so happy but if they have to eat their hated food they get mad. Although i do like the interractions with the diets as traits like "evangiloze about vegetarian lifestyle" thats pretty funny to me
If you're on PC, I have a mod by Zero that puts Vegetarian and Dog/Cat Lover traits in the Reward traits category (costs 0, automatically given to those who had those traits already). Hopefully they'll also make Lactose Intolerant a reward trait once the pack comes out.

The devs said they had more preference updates coming since simmers really liked them.... right? I remember them saying it was just the start. So hopefully they will add more preferences like dietary and fashion/style and attraction. Also i would love having quirks like get famous but for normies. I think the quirks are so fun but i dont want my sims to be celebs in order to have them. Maybe we can get phobias like technophobia, hydrophobia, etc

Kayla continuously using terms like " masculine and feminine sims". it means so much to me that she continuously makes the effort in these little everyday ways. it's not a one-off and it's normalized for her to phrase it in such a way.
this may seem like I'm blowing up something small that isn't that deep. but constantly hearing others saying things like "womens clothing, girls wear this. for boys, women go through this" etc, its so nice to hear someone consistently caring and making the effort to have it phrased differently be so casual.
i know! it makes my feminine non binary heart so happy, especially since we don’t see non binary people represented in the sims at all.

can someone explain to me, why ea adds like a hundred new items, but most of them hidden behind a cheat?
A lot of the items are designed for the new world, not necessarily optimized for building (I guess.) Sometimes that feels warranted imo, but other times it's definitely odd.
A lot of times these items are not properly programmed, most of the time with debug items your sims will just ignore them and walk through them.
I hope they add knitted animal clothes for nifty knitting for this pack, and you can use the Llama wool to make them for free/cheaper
They can't add stuff to Nifty knitting, if that's what you mean. It's an already released pack, it ain't gonna get updated.

@@Squiddy21 There are plenty of examples of there being extra features if you own two certain packs. For example being able to use cats and dogs as familiars when playing with spellcasters. It's not the same as adding whole new things to the old pack, it's adding pack integration.

I wish they'd redo traits similar to how they're redoing lot traits, so that way you could have a slot for good ones and "negative" or challenge ones, bc it's just so hard to want to pick the ones that don't do much like vegetarian

It looks like a lot of the swatches and colors are going to coordinate with a bunch of the other packs! I’m so excited. I think it’s going to be amazing
i like how they seperated lot challenges and lot traits. i think they should do something similar with aspirations, cause some of them feel like challenges/pack tutorials and some are more of long term lifetime wishes.
also, would be cool if they added more reward traits, likes, club activities, whims, holiday traditions coresponding with the new pack. i hope they didn't forget about those.
having a diet preference rather than a whole trait for your sims makes SO much sense and that's absolutely something they should consider: you could have no diet, be vegan/vegetarian, lactose intolerant, gluten free, sugar free, etc
Just imagine having Seasons and this pack (I do and I am pretty exited) and having the different seasonal crops, and BEEHIVES, so you can be a bee keeper on a farm!
This pack got me excited to play the Sims again! Living my cottagecore dreams.
If your sim marries the Creature Keeper, the game will automatically select another sim to be the Creature Keeper :)
I know your home life is going to be very busy around the time that this pack comes out, but I hope that you'll do another "look see" of all the various things that this pack will do with the *other* packs (especially the "lot challenges.") That's one of the frustrations with the "early access" is that you don't get to see how it works with the other packs.
This is everything I've always wanted and more! I am SO EXCITED!! I've never gotten a pack as it came out; I usually wait and buy them when they're on sale. But this pack is out in time for me to receive it as a birthday present and hoooo boy. I am going to disappear into a sims black hole for who only knows how long with all this new amazing game play! I can't wait!!

Three questions
1: Will people from other cities visit a city you're in like the market? Do random sims that don't technically exist show up? How does it make a market feel alive if a town only actually have like 15 sims?
2: What is the real difference between the "starter homes" in town and up on the hill and the really large empty house next to the empty plot? If I get this I probably would want the really large house that is empty
3: Can you turn the empty plot next to the large house into a vet clinic? Wife and I play with the multiplayer mod and if I can set up a vet clinic for her right next to the house that would be cool. Maybe have cows and chickens on both the home plot and a vet clinic.

The diet traits should be on the like and dislike thing like if they dislike meat or dislike dairy
there probably isn't much stuff in build mode cause the cottage living style is really unique and doesn't easily match with the more modern basegame stuff, so they had to add enough stuff in the pack to create and furnish a whole house, which meant they couldn't have different styles in one pack like how they did with other packs

i love that they added the lactose thing because i am lactose so i just love that
i think dietary preferences/restrictions should be a category of likes/dislikes. so a sim could be vegetarian, vegan, lactose intolerant, gluten free, etc. and you could set preferences like "loves spicy food" or "picky eater"
The bunnies should have been able to be pets like cats & dogs.
I feel like no because this feels more like real life, because you have to earn the bunnies trust in game and you have to do the same in real life

I think the idea was that cats and dogs were focusing more on more COMMON pets people have but of course cottage living focuses on bigger and more exotic pets/animals people own like...yeah I have a pet chicken and I WISH it all came in one pack but I know not many people have in real life or want their sims to have pet chickens and might have thought it was irrelevant

@@leo9597 yeah but I like them devoting a pack more geared towards a few animals at a time so we can get actual GOOD game play with them, personally I hated the cats and dogs expansion pack, all they do is get sick with unrealistic illnesses all the time and are generally just a nuisance. I'm SO glad they did a different direction entirely with this one
I'm not sure if anyone already mentioned it but I love the fact that the mayor is a woman and there are a lot of people of colour in this pack. I feel like it represents British society pretty well.

For the first time it feels like the sims creators are actually listening to us. This pack is amazing. It gives us more at home family content, it creates depth and lore to new places, it gives us grocery shopping and animal centered game play. This pack was created for simmers, and it is the first pack in a while that I actually WANT to buy and will see myself playing. They did such a great job on this pack and I am so happy about it.
