Alec Steele Blacksmith 2018 - Развлечения
the exciting way he speaks reminds me of jazza from drawing with jazza
same! or shad
He does sound like jazza!I've been watching him for so long and now first realize it 😂
That's a Collab that we need to see!
@@dasutto combining the two in a single video might be dangerous...
Ye
That “This old Tony” cut was perfect
Alec: takes a whole year to make a chef’s knife
Also alec: can make a sword in one day
But the quality is different
And then will comes in and absolutely demolishes alec, dont get me wrong i love alec but will is one hell of a maker
There's nothing more beautiful than watching glowing hot steel yield to a hammer, and this young man makes it look absolutely poetic! Well done good sir, nice to see young folk dabbling in the Black Arts of Blacksmithing.
Always REMEMBER~ If you START perfect, You END perfect. I like the work you have done. You will be a master one day.
YoYoMA _ Alec allready is a master, compare him to me and he's a God😂
You missed such a good opportunity to say "It's hammer time"!!!!!!
I think hes too young lol...20 years old with 45 years of metal work experience
@@charliefrost7485 Huh more like 65-70
Lol, I think that joke would get played out pretty quickly...
He’s like a straight, handyman, english Tyler Oakley
That’s who he reminds me of!!
"This Old Tony, eat your heart out" LOL IM DYING
What's the joke I'm missing? Lol
jesse owens this old tony is a machinist RUclipsr, he tends to do stuff like that, you should check him out
Are you still dying
I subscribed this this car because of this line. TOT is an all-time favorite.
If you want to make food making tools you should make a waffle iron. Once made, you can cook waffles inside your forge. Just don't forget that as the waffle goes into your forge to have your Iron imprint your mark upon it.
Gavin Spammed this!
Yes, definitely a waffle iron that imprints his mark on the waffle. Even the whole waffle pattern based around his mark.
Am I the only one who smiles when you see hot steel getting power hammered
John Sterneberg nope
that's why we are all here.
I smile when I see anything get power hammered.....
Use small metal sheet so you I'll end up with tiny looking grains which I like
by hot steel you mean mr Steele right?
"It's about 27 inches of good material, so 28 inches".
Typical man.
Man admits a mistake typical woman emasculates gin
5:30 I feel like I appriciate that a whole lot more, having recently found and binged all of ThisOldTony's content 😆
It took me a second to realize what he said but then I lit up with the lightbulb, love that dude and his goofy editing
Is it just me, or does anyone else not even do black smithing! 😂 but it is just interesting and fun to watch Alec 😂
I am outta here
It's awesome as we progress to go back & see past work.... What once looked like great work, now becomes a stepping block to refining our craft... Older work will always hold a special place, remembering what we learned & figuring out how to improve... I was looking at one of my 1st compound grinds, it's so funny, I practiced so much & was so proud of that knife, now all i see are imperfections & what i need to improve... Take it easy...
Dave Erving Evader Knives well said!
most ppl look at comics for heros but me i look at a young man. im 23 and a welder by trade i hope to be a smith someday and watching you helps me get through the hard times of waiting until that day comes. you truly are amazing in my eyes. keep up the great work!
It is astonishing to me how many years ago, blacksmiths had to manage their trade without that big press he was using. It must have been a very sweaty job.
Certainly. But FYI, big powerfull mechanically-powered hammers did exist in the ancient world.
@@ComandanteJ Yep, they often had water powered hammers. Water wheels turning cams that raised the heavy hammer heads, the mass of them drove them down. They where used for smithing and other industrial processes like breaking down chunks of ore for smelting.
Artisans still craft by hand.
For those of us without the money for a triphammer- yes. Yes it is.
The blacksmith was the one guy in town that nobody messed with.
I love your positive attitude! Keep it up!
Thank you!
obnoxious pipsqueak that is.
If I send you a turbine blade from a J-79 engine (F-4 Phantom), can you forge a knife out of it?
flyaccelerated that would be awesome I’d probably email him for that
Came for the damascus, stayed for the Alec. Subbed.
*Pure enthusiasm in its distilled form... you can feel he was born to do this!*
He was born to sell As Seen On TV items on late night. He's unwatchable on RUclips.
@@tahsinshamma2369 I actually enjoy his amped up energy
Sometimes, I like waiting for a week then catch up on everything in one sitting. VERY NICE.
I do that to
Jamie dropping another sick edit
Jamie needs to be in the spotlight more. did he ever finish his bowie knife??
Nathan Van de Velde top ten questions science can't answer
Jamie's bowie knife got cracked, I think it is on the claymore playlist.
He seems to drop a lot of lsd lately
@@NathanVdV I think David Bowie sued him for making it without his authorization so it sits in a drawer soaking in melted butter and sugar
This guy just poped up in my recomended tab and I'm really confused by this accent
He's a brit who moved to Montana. Don't hate, he makes sexy stabby poundy things from Iron and other metallic elements. Enjoy the awesome. Btw, check out some of his older stuff, you'll get to see a huge leap from senior apprentice to solid journeyman. This channel (not to sound too bombastic) is the forging of a smith.
Edit: A couple too (to) many mistakes... XD
@@willplume1555 thanks for the clarification, I was confused too.
@@willplume1555 I mean at the time of this video I don't think he was in montana yet so that's just a full british accent
9:00 this is minecraft sword.
@@TheRealDrae wezme sobie twoją rade do serca. albo nie bo nie obchodzi mnie zdanie jakichś nonamów z neta.
no this is patrick
Yup
maybe when you etch smaller pieces you could put into use something like a frying basket-- to submerge the pieces but keep them easily retrievable. at least for etches that are just for reference/testing
Damn, Alec&Co, your editing skills are getting better and better. The sync of the hammerblows with the music while slowing down on each strike, it really adds something to make the viewer feel some of the power of such a tool, and at the same time just put them in a good mood!
“BACK TO THE TIG WELDER!” He sounds so happy hehe
lol "this old tony eat your heart out"
Lol, This Old Tony got wrecked
Can't wait to see the next episode Alec! Thank you for sharing this with us!
I like how energetic and positive you seem in your vids
Fist bump to the videographer... That subtle screen shake in time with the rythm and power hammer strikes... Just epic
Your personality is electric
Yes! Chefs knife! I Just planned a 2 week vacation starting tomorrow back on my fathers farm, to build a smithy and my goal is to come back with kind of a chefs knife :)
One of your greatest strengths is seeing and admitting your faults. It's really inspiring and translatable to all things in life.
9:14 he's got a diamond pickaxe
I thought the same thing and looked in the comments to see if anyone else had the same idea
Its more like a sword i think
@@blakeS819 yeah
Been waiting for this so long! Hell yeah!
Yay! I stopped watching one of your live streams so I could watch this! Can't wait for my touch-mark t-shirt to come! 🔨🔥❤
Kelsey Oakes where does he do his live streams?
Matthew Olsen he doesn't do them anymore but he has got a playlist on his channel
theres a lot of these blacksmithing channels on youtube, but i personally think this is the best one seeing how energetic this guy is, he really seems to enjoy his work unlike a lot of the other ones or the ones that have a lack of work ethic which is very apparent
Really impressive skills on the power hammer and with getting the perfect temp on the metal for forging. Beautiful work.
Alec has the sweetest pen on the island, bet you didn't notice that.
I absolutely adore your works Alec, I cant wait to see what else you come up with😊
Your style is spot on. A right mixture of entertainment, sped up video, background music, and technical background to round out a video. It makes for perfect content. Now if you were a busty, blonde hair, blue eyed, leather clad woman, then we would be talking at least 20 million views.
Honestly though this is some of the most wholesome content on this platform, in all realism. It's amazing to be on the crafty side of youtube where people aren't toxic little shits.
Hey man ! great project ! :D Next why won't you forge some jewellery out of your copper and bronze damascus ? That would be very interesting !
MrMaxtille for future reference when it is nonferrous metals it is actually called mokume gane. ^_^
OK ! :) Nice, thank you ! :p
LOVE THE EDITING MAN
Don’t know why, but enjoyed watching these old solo videos far more than the new stuff. Although it was a huge step up carrier wise for Alec.
I’ve been a machinist most of my life. As some know, forging is truly the early history of that. I am excited to head towards retirement learnig the craft of forging, and thank God for young men like this to inspire us old goats in the ancinent skills. Love his beginners advice of ‘make 100 of these!’ as the crafts require muscle memory as much as skill. My 55 year old arms will hate you, but its sound guidance!
You truly are the tall ginger metalwork Yoda. In a few hundred years you’ll move your shop into a swamp, pass on all of your training, lift a vehicle with your mind, turn into a fart and disappear.
Law abiding citizen-- Oh a sharp knife.
UK police - go directly to jail.
Not just any sharp knife, a Kitchen knife, the preferred tool of knife murders in that country.
in the UK we can legally have rifles, shotguns and knives, as in many places the crimes are committed with illegally possessed weapons.
I have a friend that has spent years trying differing ways to make damascus as a kind of hobby. His best piece according to him, is the result of using leaves and plants in the folding process. He's not completely sure why but swears up and down it holds an edge better than anything else he's ever made.
Are there any specific, wacky ways you've smithed in the past that may seem strange out or context?
You need your own tv show just on tv at all times 24/7 lol never get sick of watchin these vids
Why didn’t you use the surface grinder?
TtWub good question
TtWub takes way too much time for something that does not need to be incredibly flat or accurate
Yeah, its really slow, and he hasnt done the upgrade what he promised to do, replace the stone with a belt system, what makes it faster.
Waaaahhh! Was that a Grimsmo Saga in your hand, Alec?!
Best looking lump of metal ever after you welded the little cubes.
I dont know what I liked better, the way it was shot or the science of building the knife.
Man, I always hop right on to see your vids as they drop. Interesting content and the vids are so well edited and clean. Love it! #fanacrossthepond Cheers from Canada eh!
Thank Jamie =p he's his editor. Unless something happened when I wasn't paying attention.
weeeelllll, if that knife is a piece of trash, you know how the saying goes, another mans trash is another man's treasure.... soooo with that said, ill take it!!
Nadario Seays looooooooooooool
Man!! I'm so impressed with your editing!!! You shoot so well and edit like a pro!!!
This pattern is usually called a herringbone, many woodworkers use it.
I would like to see you try some kind of Armor.
Keep it going!
Alec you have to get Jamie to edit down each of your awesome projects into a 10 minute video for the whole thing start to finish.
Then when they're all finished, release them slowly every week.
Still one of my all time favorite builds of yours. I would love to see you incorporate that same Damascus pattern into some larger more intricate swords or weapons.
I thought this in the thumbnail was a tractor tire lol
i feel like you are putting on that accent
Fust things fust lol
Lol that part I assumed was just for shits and giggles
within 2 mins of watching i was pretty sure it was fake
sounds like an American trying to speak the Queen's English... which is doubly fake.
Yeah it bugs me as an English person, but no idea I just came to look at this person making a knife.
11:45
That made my day! Thank you for putting a smile back on my face!
The best chef's knives are actually very thin. They slice instead of the thicker, much hyped ones which actually pry apart as they cut. My favorite knife is not even 1/8" thick and does everything, it holds an edge and sharpens quickly when I do need to dress the cutting surface
Hint holding the billed of hot metal by hand while using the hammer mill is more precise than using the tongs you won't drop it that way but don't put it in your pocket until it is cooled down
It's hardly kiwami japan.
I really liked how it looked when all the small rectangles were welded together
I will be honest I use your videos as motivation all the time.
You should've just left it like a minecraft sword tbh
9:18 is that a diamond sword?
nah b thats iron
haha! came to say that too!
I'm an English transplant in America. Usually - when I hear my own language - I gaze off thoughtfully into the middle distance and bathe in the soothing sound of home. I never thought I'd stop doing that... until I hit play on this video.
The saw loss on this is tear-jerking
YOU ARE AMAZING, I love your passion, how you are making videos. I LOVE IT. So inspiring.
So let's be honest here ...
1st time watching his vid ... i was watching and felt *man he's happy ..damn. idk ..he seems to love what he does ... i usually don't leave a comment but for this .. i had to .. damn ... lol
He hasn't been this happy since he was released from prison for melting icecream in his forge.
He should make a Demaus. Sewing needle or paperclip
I would give him a euro if he would hold that red hot metal with his bare hands for 10 minutes straight without crying or making any expression at all
I like knives to cut my fingers off it only hurts for a week or 2 but after that I would be glad I did it it would be the ultimate body piercing ever
Can we get a yepee
I can’t let my mom watch this otherwise she’s gonna become a full time blacksmith
Alec always starts out with 100x the material he needs. lol.
👌🏼 content

It kind of looks like the blade of a diamond sword.
Your editing skills are by far the best on youtube. I've only watched this video and your transitions are on point! Nice job dude
This was interesting to see how you forged that Damascus I know I’ve never seen it before
Yup...seen 17 "first" comments
