    Unpopular opinion alert: I prefer the US version changes. The “military” style handguard is loaded with unnecessary parts that make it overly complex and significantly heavier. I would have replaced it with mlok. Which is another feature of the MS that matters to me. I need a longer handguard than what comes on the S variant. Additionally, only briefly mention, the gas regulator now has a suppressor setting which matters a whole lot to me and many others who were trying to drill our own. I also prefer a heavy barrel as I feel this weapon is intended for a lot of rapid fire( or at least for me). I would have liked them to keep the skeletonization on the frame, but I also love the scalloped rail. All in all the changes seem to make this gun more functional if less “military” in aesthetics

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 4 года назад +4

      The military Bren 2 & the 2S do have M-LOK handguards, though granted just 2 slots per side. As to complicated, no the 2MS system has more parts, mainly more screws and a removable HG frame unit, where as the 2A1/2 & 2S really don't ahve a true 'handguard' but just rail panels with the receiver running full length.
      As to the suppressor setting, has that been confirmed? When MAC did their video, that was Tim's speculation that it was for a suppressor but in that video, he said the manual didn't call it as such. So i wonder about port sizes?
      The 2S & 2MS pistols have a large hole and a small one, as does the 2MS carbine. So position wise, same. Are the holes of different sizes? and if so is this specifically for a suppressor or just altered to work with the longer 16" barrel? I do know the positions have been reversed: 1 = small & 2 = large on the pistol, while 1 = large & 2 = small on the carbine.
      Has CZ made a statement? It would be nice to know either way.

      @Nicomachean_Man 4 года назад +3

      Misha you are correct on all counts. I got myself mixed up on handguards. What I meant was I prefer the carbines handguard (which is more like the aftermarket HB handguard being secured with just the 4 screws) over the Bren 2 pistol MS handguards which have something like 8 screws and are significantly heavier for their length. Additionally I prefer both the MS pistols and the carbine handguards over the S because they don’t have monolithic uppers (received running full length). The S handguard is too short for my needs and really cant be swapped for a longer one do to the one piece construction. Though I can conceive of a company making a longer handguard working off the side panels, I haven’t seen anything to date.
      As to the suppressor setting. Yes it is confirmed to be a suppressor setting specifically and the port sizes are different. I believe MAC made an update video with a response from CZ saying they had a manual typo. Port size dimensions I have seen on various forums though I would have to go hunting for that photo.
      I sympathize with the desire to have the authentic military firearm as I too collect military firearms. In that aspect I understand the disappointment. Even so, I believe the changes, with the exception of the lightening cuts, to be a functional improvement. This is especially the case as CZ is no doubt competing in the AR15 saturated market which will always ask the question, “how does this 2k gun compare to an AR I can get at half the price with more modularity and connection points.”
      I’m loving my Bren 2MS 11” pistol (though I managed to break the hammer pin spring) which I got in large part due to your videos... so keep up the good work!

    I purchased one of these back in May and don't regret it at all. Maybe I don't notice the extra weight because I have a bigger stature, but it's such a pleasure to shoot for me. The action is smooth as hell and with all its features compared to something like a SCAR, it's hard to beat for the price. I've upgraded the trigger, safety selectors, and charging handle with HBI accessories. I'm also planning to replace the factory brake and handguard with more "military style" options when they hit the US market. I believe there's a lot of potential for aftermarket support, which CZ is focusing on with the newer models. Overall, I just wanted something a little more fancy for my collection other than ARs/AKs and it more than gets the job done lol

    Longer barrels need heavier barrels to prevent deflection from suppressor weight. Longer gas systems have traditionally been more reliable due to gas pressure stabilizing further down the barrel (not as turbulent). • @jager6863
    @jager6863 3 года назад +3

    I own the 11" Pistol with a SB Tactical Brace installed. I like the weight, the balance and the overall quality of the "Pistol". I 100% hated the handguard and replaced it with a HB Industries Hand Guard that works for both the 8", 11" and 14" guns. When you take off the original hand guard, you wonder if the engineer's at CZ are using drugs, as its needlessly complicated and really detracts from the gun. The HB Rail is simpler and covers the bottom of the gas block, to protect your hand. I opted to get QD swivel points on both sides of the handguard, so I don't need to buy extra Mlok adapters.
    HB Industries makes the Handguard for the CZ Carbine and you will also find one in the folding stock kit that CZ USA sells, as it is one of the 922r parts required to SBR the pistol.
    The Czech Army should ditch their current handguards and go with the Mlok HB Handguard and also lose the rear sling loops as they tend to hit may large nose and besides, its not 1992, so we all use QD Swivels now. I agree with Misha that the lightening cuts in the receiver need to come back. The rifles and the pistols need to be marked and chambered for 5.56x45 and not a mix of .223 and 5.56, The iron sights that come with the "pistols" are first rate and I keep mine folded on the rail and never use them, as its 2021 and "OPTICS", in my case a Trijicon MRO HD. CZ should develop and field flip up irons that fold flat on the rails, like the HK 416 or some for the modern G36 rail sights, which would save money and made the guns lighter (and cheaper) too.
    $2k is a lot for a firearm in 2021 and if you compare it to a H&K 416, TB TG36, a FN SCAR or a SIG 55x series, etc. the CZ is a lighter gun and you will save $1,500 to $2,000 compared to buying these competitors. The CZ also takes MagPul Gen 2 (not Gen 3) mags which is nice.

  • @godwinjoy9730
    @godwinjoy9730 4 года назад +5

    It seems that the barrel profile has been a polarizing topic on the Bren 2 carbine. Personally the way I saw it, the carbine was meant more the civilian shooter in mind, with an increase/stability in accuracy through sustained fire (basically a DMR style). Plus the weight could potentially be balanced through an LVPO or other optic. However if you were looking for for a patrol/military-ish , the 14 inch model would be the way to go.
    Regardless, thank you for your thoughts. Been waiting for this review.

      You sure on that? Looking at MAC's video, it just seems like they switched positions 1 and 2. Pistol has small hole on #1, large on #2. Carbine has a large hole at #1 and a smaller hole on #2.

    • @kiankolahi
      @kiankolahi 4 года назад

      @@misha5670 Thank you for you videos Misha and Jay! Yes that is correct. The 2nd position with the carbine is smaller and according to MAC's video here ruclips.net/video/gS7FeVaEQkY/видео.html like you mentioned he clarified with cz how the gas system is supposed to work. The smaller hole in the second position for suppression would seem sound as this would limit the increased gas created from running suppressed. So far I have run my Deadair Wolfman on my Bren2 carbine with no issues but its only seen like 100 rounds. I have also run the wolfman on my 7.62x39 Bren2 with a 14 inch barrel in position 1 with subsonic bear ammo. Super sonic ran but was very unpleasant to shoot. Just to note when I went back to no suppressor I had some failures to eject like every 2 or 3 rounds with Bear supersonic. I went home and checked the gas port which was some what gunked up but not that obstructed. I cleaned it up but I gotta take it back to see if that was the cause for the FTE. I am not sure if the short stroke piston gas system is that sensitive?

    I own a M+M M10x in 7.62x39 with Magpul Zhukov stock. That’s the only ultra modern design rifle I own. I see a lot of similarities in the overall design philosophy, though the M10x was produced solely for the civilian market. I have it topped with a TA33 ACOG, and it’s a great shooter. It does seem like CZ is focused on the civilian/ sporting market, which I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. Thanks for sharing Mishaco!

      I have about 2000 rounds through mine and so far no issues. I wish the barrel was CHF, but they are working to get some and it’s fairly easy to change. Their trigger is also a little too light for my tastes, but I’ve grown accustomed to it now. Anywho...I’ve had the opportunity to shoot a Bren 1 and liked it. Haven’t put my hands on a Bren 2, but I agree that version seems like a step backwards.

      Its not the 2MS carbine's weight I have a problem with. If it were, then I wouldn't stil love the 805 carbine. Its the fact that the weight isn't necessary. The SGL31 is heavy(ish) because its an older design made from mostly steel. Czech CZ really really tried to take weight off when designing the Bren 2, and IMO, they succeeded beautifully. Why just add it back for the 2MS carbine?

      Misha that’s a really good question. I’d probably go carbine since it includes the stock and that way I don’t have to mess with SBR hassle and cost and purchasing the expensive stock. The pistols always have wiggle in the adapters that I’ve seen and handled for braces and stocks. The carbine i handled was rock solid. I definitely appreciate the purist point of view and it’s just as valid as any reason to have it the way you want it. I wouldn’t go 7.62x39 since the magazine is proprietary. Yuck. I just will repeat what i said under another video about this gun.
    Hello Misha!
    I really do not get it. It is only in USA when people looking lets say at the AK and notice every single scratch or change in design even if it is insignificant. People looking at wear on AK parts every 1000 Rds. That's just funny. In Afghanistan Russians just throwed away guns with round count of 5000+.
    Same here with Bren. Lightning cuts? You are kidding right? You do not understand why? I tell you why. To save some time and because of it some money. Yes, if you do not cut those lightning cuts on one gun savings of the time is not great, but multiply it by amount of guns in total and you will see the difference. Again saving time, money and last and not least tools.
    Now here comes question? Are all AK are the same? All MILITARY AKs are the same? Hell no! Are they authentic enough? Hell yes depending on the country. Look at the Galil Ace Gen.2. Receivers, plastic parts, hand guards and other stuff are different from original.. 1st. Gen Galil Ace is different from original Galils. Are they authentic enough as military guns?
    Let me ask you this. Did you see lately Russian special forces units and their AK rifles? Those guys are in military right? Look what kind hand guards and stocks and other accessories they are using. So they are not military rifles anymore?
    So because CZ changed rails( by the way I like them on Ms more), hand guards and they do not do lightning cuts is it a different rifle? Hell no! It is a same rifle and only collector goofs can complain about such a things. And another thing Misha. Please do not talk about things you know nothing about . Mostly about Russia and politic things in that country. You know exactly nothing about some inside things. Just talk about guns. Latest sanctions about Navalniy right? They told you so. Yeah right. Thats all about gun control. By the way. Do you know who is Navalniy? Person like him deserves what happened to him. Nothing less. About Bren2 . A year later Bren 2s cost more then 2Ms just because gun bloggers like you started all that BS about military and non military. And they are $1000 more right now. This is stupid to say at least. They are same guns from same manufacturer. They exactly same. Do you know that civilian SCAR different from military? Do I need to continue?

    I suspect the heavy barrel with the muzzle break is to conform to some ban state requirements. MD for instance has copy cat restrictions. Basically a copycat weapon is any gun that has a detachable magazine and two evil features such as folding stocks, grenade launchers, and flash suppressors. Some decisions by CZ USA, I guess are made so they could sell the same rifle in as many states as possible.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 4 года назад +1

      Nope, no state has a barrel weight requirement. And any state that bans 'flash hiders' also bans 'threaded muzzles.' Truth is most ban states out there like CA, NY, MA, and CT have all tightened their laws since 2013. These days, they are even more restrictive, and that evil folding buttstock would never fly either.

In reality, its a bit longer, at a bit under 14.2". So you need about a 2.5" device to insure legality. This is absolutely not an attack on you' just like I said, i am afraid someone might use an extended A2 meant for a Colt 14.5" barrel, so unknowingly still have an unregistered SBR.

      Bren 2 carbine has more aftermarket support. The ARX100 seems to have been abandoned by Beretta.
      Also, the folding stock catch was built into the upper receiver mold, no way to replace it, and it would eventually wear.
      The ARX100 was made to be able to quickly change out the barrel, possibly to easily switch from 5.56 to .300, but all production on it died out, so having a quick change barrel is pointless.

    I'm not a fan either on how the carbine version of the Bren 2 turned out to be a "sportorized target shooting rifle" , since I missed out on the original 805 bren due to it being discontinued I was expecting the bren 2 to be a new and improved version that retained its features as a military rifle for us civilians. For me I feel having the heavy barrel is unnecessary as it adds more weight, not a fan of the hand guard, it not coming with any iron sights (though it seems gun companies are starting to not include sights anymore). I just can't help but to feel disappointed as well since the original 805 and the bren 2 S had something unique about it that made me interested in it in the first place. The carbine version of the bren 2 just feels almost like "another AR" as you said with how Americanized it became, I'm sure it's still a great rifle for what it is but with it being a "target shooting DMR rifle" and not a lightweight patrol rifle it losses its appeal for me.

      Oh for sure, I have little doubt that it is a reliable and accurate rifle. And so what? How many reliable and accurate rifles do we have these days? Not sarcasm, i really hope CZUSA knows what its doing and this turns out to be the right business decision. We've lost too many firearms and even too many companies in the past year.

      I in no way shape or form can I agree with this! The Bren 2 is superior and MUCH Better Looking than the original 805.

      I think we can all agree that the Bren 805 and Bren 2S are a lot more attractive than the Bren 2 MS/MS carbine, hands down! I agree with Misha's standpoint on the Bren 2S upper receiver/handguard. I think it's just better overall.

    To me the Bren 2ms was a huge let down. For the reasons pointed out here im good with just my 805. I hope they go a different route with the BR 308 version. It would be harder to say no to that.

      @@DavidThomas-sp2yc I think its a good rifle but doesnt look like a bren to me. It looks like a m+m m10x with that goofy handgaurd. At this point id rather pay more for a scar because it doesn't look bubba'd.

    CZ has screwed up the Bren 2 with the ms modifications...they should have stuck with the original 2s design vs all these stupid "improvements"...their quality has went down and QC on these latest Brens are laughable...all the ones I have seen in shops have terrible slop in the receivers...
