Simon and Garfunkel is a dynamic duo. While Paul delivers free-spirited guitarman performance that releases his creativity, Art's gleaming bodily expression echoes sophisticated depth beyond lyrical contemplation.
Artie sure was one extremely beautiful young man. He was beyond handsome... Of course, young Paul was quite a handsome young man too. I love them both equally.
It's so rare to hear Art introduce the songs! He doesn't put on a weird accent like Paul when he speaks. Paul's music is phenomenal but Art seems very genuine while performing.
wish i was there in that room. lucky sods! art is looking fine! and paul has a look of david guest. when he is older obviously, but the music is amazing as usual!
Oh my god... I am a 16 year old German girl and I fell in love with Paul and Art and their music 2 years ago... I know ALL their songs released on LP. Best song ever: Cecilia, but others are great too... wow! Thanks for uploading!
What a voice.. So angelic. Very soothing.. It relaxes my mind.. Cant begin and end my day not listening to sir ARTs singing... From Philippines.. Sray safe everyone..
This is a song you simply close your eyes and listen to. It will touch your very soul when you just listen. The second time you hear it, you will want to sing along. I've been listening to them since the 60's. Even my grown sons love their music.
@ysplse The lady in the middle is jazz, pop, blues, standards singer Nancy Wilson. She also acted in various TV shows in the 60s and 70s. I think she had a variety show in the mid 70s, too.
1968 - people listening to S&G... 1981 - people listening to S&G... 2008 - people listening to S&G... I have no doubt it will be the same in 2068... :)
so cool -- I love how people are just sitting around everywhere in random places behind them, not having spastic episodes of screaming and mobbing. to go back to those days.....
Heavier than any metal, more soulful than any soul, but found in music, verse, and song that hits the heart going miles deep. It's meaning alone, in quite, and softness, driving home eons of nails to meaning in our very heart and soul where emotion reigns and all words fail. Blessed.
Well wow I was not expecting to see Victor Borge sitting their at the piano. splendid. For anyone too young to know him, check him out here, if you have a funny bone he will be guaranteed to tickle it. He's magnificent, I was extremely lucky to see him live many moons ago now on this side of the pond in Britain simply brilliant.
How sweet considerate and thoughtful what Art says at the beginning. You two together bring his music to life in a unique and unmatched way, Art, he knows as we all do❤️
Victor Borge was indeed an integral part of this particular show, as the title of this edition was "Three For Tonight". When Paul & Art weren't center stage, Borge performed his patented classical music parodies and routines like "Phonetic Punctuation". Kraft wanted a "something for everybody" approach in their 1967-'71 "MUSIC HALL" episodes- rock, country, "easy listening", semi-classical, Broadway, Hollywood, British performers, comedians, et. al.
The background looked like an homage to Magritte with the clouds and "raining people". I wonder if that was the intent. So wonderful to be able to see this performance when the song was young. It was special back then, as it has remained.
Thank you so much for uploading this show, making it possible for us to watch this amazing concert. It is really rare to find S&G material here in Brazil, unfortunately. Something interesting I've noticed: S&G is so very poetic, it touches so deeply our souls that people can actually see the reflection of this in the commentaries below =) Amazing expressions of love and admiration from fans of all ages, all around the world :)
Yes, a big thank you from me as well. This upload is a treasure! I first heard the electric version of Sound of Silence in the mid-60's and have loved S&G ever since. Bought a couple of their vinyl albums (Parsley, Sage...and Bridge Over..) when they came out. One of my English teachers in HS (SoCal) used their song lyrics as class assignments and I recall writing an essay on the song "America". Their voices blend so well, their harmony harks back to the Everly Brothers (whom they idolized). Paul's guitar work is superior...I could go on and on....however, it is his songwriting ability that sets them apart from anyone else. IMHO, only Joni Mitchell came close to Paul Simon in their heyday.
why did the audience only start clapping after he started singing? did they not recognize The Sound of Silence from the guitar intro? my grandmother can only recognize things after the singing begins as well. maybe it's an old person thing.
@PinkFloydFan413 Although I definitely agree with your comment! Edison did not invent the camera, it was actually a frenchman by the name of Louis Le Prince who shot the first film in 1888, Roundhay Garden Scene. Although it's always nice to see a Simon and Garfunkel fan! :)
I love Victor Borge as well as Simon & Garfunkel and have been lucky enough to see him live. But and pardon my ignorance who is the girl? I know I should know but can't remember her name.
Thankyou for loading that up, these videos are wonderful. But I don´t really get the "classic" sentence at the end "What does Simon say"? Can somebody explain? please?=) Maybe the guy below me;)?
in heaven i'll be able to sing like art garfunkel .
Art's introduction to "Sounds of Silence" is one of the most powerful things I've heard.
Art Garfunkel one of the most underrated vocalists ever. I love he sings the melody here
started crying the minute i heard Art Garfunkel speak, this is beyond beautiful.
I love Arte Garfunkel
Me too Carolyn !!
You love him so much that you spelled his name wrong. I bet he loves you too Caroline.
@@Chris-0703 Let's enjoy the nostalgia, without picking out a small error. Are any of us perfect?

The first 17 seconds...wow! Well said, Art. That was extremely beautiful

I hearby declare this the best video on youtube.
2:06 Beautiful image. I think its obvious that even after all these years Simon and Garfunkel reach out and still touch a lot of people's hearts.
Art GARFUNKEL a 1 voix exceptionnelle, j'aime aussi la voix de Paul Simon, tous les deux c'est plus que parfait
wish i was there in that room. lucky sods! art is looking fine! and paul has a look of david guest. when he is older obviously, but the music is amazing as usual!

2013 still listening to S&G and the years to come!!

pure talent, art and paul are true musicians, unlike todays crap.
I had no idea this existed. Thank you for uploading this show - the music is exquisite.

Glorious time in music, the quality of the performances and the wonderful songwriting made this the golden age of music for all time in my view.

Because he was still talking when Paul started
Me too
I love Victor Borge as well as Simon & Garfunkel and have been lucky enough to see him live.
But and pardon my ignorance who is the girl? I know I should know but can't remember her name.
@goldhat3 You are correct sir!! The best video since Thomas Edison invented cameras
@kikinozka I hope from the deep of my heart Paul has the genes like Johannes Heesters (106 years old and still on stage:) )
VICTOR BORGE!!!
Thankyou for loading that up, these videos are wonderful.

'What does Simon say"
The guitar sounds out of tune, or its just the age of the recording.
Idk y but Paul's guitar playing really starting annoying me towards the end there....
victor borge haha..goodstuff
It isn't pleasant to four fools. With love from Russia! !
No way...Victor Borge!
