This has probably been the most helpful video for me in terms of deciding which to go for. I had an S21 Ultra for a bit before "downgrading" due to how big it was and hard to use one-handed for me if need be. I've been telling myself I absolutely need the S22 Ultra for the camera(s) but I think the regular S22 will be a better option for me... it's still got a great camera that shoots print-worthy photos... having a young child, these have kinda become 2 requirements lol, so again I am thankful for this video. I pre-ordered this phone yesterday and really need content on this phone to determine if I need to cancel my order. It's nice to hear the battery life if holding up well. My s10e is getting 4 1/2 hours a day and it's perfect for my use so seeing 5 hours is assuring 🙏
Yes 5 hours is acceptable for me given a 3700 mah battery and the crazy brightness! I didn't go into detail for this short video but about half of that 5 hours was on max brightness (with the extra brightness setting on) so definitely room for even more battery if you're smart about it. I'm currently loving my S22. I loved my s20+ and still would've kept my s20+ but the screen had a crack and stopped working and the other ones were too expensive so this is a good phone for me so far. Small, compact, super responsive and simple to run
I'm in this exact scenario ! Have ordered an s22 and will be trading my s20+ with a cracked screen to get it. I'm worried I will think it's to small? How are you finding it
I now have mine and it is good but being completely honest I miss my big screen. Stuff is a bit sharper and quicker but not hugely noticeable over the s20plus I had. If I hadn't cracked my screen I would kept the s20 plus and saved money.
Finally, someone made a video about S22. Have been thinking of upgrading from my S10+ to S22/S22+ Could you please also do an in-depth S22 & S22+ battery comparison after 72 hours of usage? Ideally just looking for a phone which can last a whole day without charging.
Seems like a great phone and one I've been considering to replace my a52s. Biggest worry for me is the battery such a shame they did not make it 1mm thicker and fit a 4500 in there
What would make you want to change your A52S for this? I'm thinking of changing my Pixel 4a to the A52S. Just interested to see what'd make you switch! Thanks
Agree, i suppose Samsung did it on purpose so that s22 is not a perfect phone, just to make sure those cant live with small battery go for s22 ultra / s22 + / s21 FE
@@ngjs3301 This is unfortunately, probably the correct answer. I am the same as above - I would have been so happy for a slightly thicker phone with a bare minimum 4200 mah battery in there. I think if the screen is larger than 6" then the battery should be larger than 4000 mah.
@@ngjs3301 And more over they didn't even compensate it by giving ltpo screen. They showed us in their unpack event that S22 can go all the way to 10hz but now they are changing thier statement. I'm just so much conserned about SOT.

@@ShaneSymonds Well i have watch loads of videos on the latest Samsungs and me and my Mrs were on the fence and really not impressed by the generic RUclipsr talk. We watched yours and now we are pre ordering her one. This is how a review should be done. Top class.
The battery life is the only thing that is holding me back from buying this. But design wise, this is the best S series since S1. If I can get a hold of the limited edition colors, I would get one asap
I recently bought a Samsung S22. Previously I used a samsung galaxy note 20, which is big and heavy. I am very happy and satisfied in using the samsung s22, which can fit in my shirt pocket, my running pants pocket and is easy to grip. The battery can also last for about 8 hours of daily use. When watching Netflix, it's also very satisfying because the screen refresh rate is 120Hz so it provides an exciting experience. Samsung S22 is really satisfying. I don't regret buying it.
@@FreshVibez77 It’s bad compared to the Iphone’s but compared to other androids except the Pixel phones…I think Samsung’s social media camera has been pretty reasonable.

What about the camera? Does it take good pics of the moon? Or the sky? I know he said it did not. But it's still expensive for it not to take good pics of the things I mentioned.
from geekbench tweeter After extensive internal testing we have determined the following Samsung Galaxy handsets use GOS: - Samsung Galaxy S22 (all models) - Samsung Galaxy S21 (all models) - Samsung Galaxy S20 (all models) - Samsung Galaxy S10 (all models) Today we delisted these handsets from the Android Benchmark chart on the Geekbench Browser. We view this as a form of benchmark manipulation as major benchmark applications, including Geekbench, are not throttled by this service.
Same thing here. Kept complaining everyone forgets about compact phones these days. This is only a few mm bigger than my S10e so I thought I'd give it a shot even though it's not a huge upgrade.
They really should have continued the e line...perfect size with great specs. Miss mine...trade-in mine for the S21. Got the S21 free...so no complaints!
I have a question does it take good pics of the moon or the sky? I think I heard him say no. But I still wanted to ask. Because it is still expensive for it not to do so.
I am considering switching from my iPhone to the s22, but I’m concerned about battery life and if it’ll last an entire day. While I’m not a heavy user or gamer, I am constantly on my phone, browsing the web, taking photos, watching RUclips, etc. And I’m curious if this would be worth switching to. I love the smaller 6.1” since and the look of it. But battery life is a very important factor for me too.
Just can't downgrade my screen resolution from the s10s 557ppi. Screen quality is Important to me. My s10 is actually running better than ever anyway. With the new one ui4 so why would I need to "upgrade"
I also have an s10 but the real problem is the battery. The manufacturers of these expensive phones should focus on making the batteries last longer to allow for amortization of the purchase costs...
The fact that its just a minimalistic and polished design is such a plus for me!! I've been wanting a smaller phone for long, I will definitely trade my S20+ for the S22
A new puppy! The video stabilization was outstanding when you were walking backwards to film the puppy. Also, I must apologize. In your other videos I used to comment on the lack of you testing cameras filming your cute dog, but given you've got a new puppy and haven't shown the one I was used to, well I must take the hint and I have to apologize for my previous comments. If I am wrong in my assumption, I'm sorry too. I don't mean to bother you or pry. Back to the phone, it does seem solidly built. And the symmetrical "bezels" look so good! Must be a joy to use!
My service provider offered me a deal on this phone and I am glad I took it. The photos are incredible and it is a generally responsive device. I don't use it for video playback or games so the battery goes a bit longer. Having said that, yes; the battery is not nearly as long lasting as my previous phone. A Huawei P30 Lite. That's my only complaint and it is minor. Great phone and good video! thanks.
Not worried about battery with heavy usage? I really like the regular as well as I don't want bigger than 6.2 inch. Still bit hesitate due to battery life.
I have the Samsung s7 edge. Thinking about trading for the s22 or iphone 13 or 14. My work phone is the iphone 12 which i like a little better than my s7. Your opinion?
I read about people like you who come from very old smartphones and I can't figure out how you manage to use them again since the battery will surely be dead and buried
Not a lot of people really gives review to the s22 but i understand because the hype is more focused on the s22 ultra. So glad to find your review for this phone. Been wanting to upgrade my phone to s22 and after watching your review about it, i feel like this is a good phone for me. I really dont mind the battery life but i do like the other specs im seeing with s22. I hope to see more videos of you playing around with the s22. Thank you.
5 hrs SOT was kinda disappointing at first, but then I noticed the maps and gaming. I don't game much on phones and if I'm using maps my phone is usually plugged in. Will probably be closer to 5.5 or 6 hrs for others uses, which I think will be good enough for me. Excited to upgrade from my s9
Yep and the maps was on max brightness with the extra brightness setting on. I was using the phone the way I normally use it which is probably more aggressive than the average user. Could definitely extend past the metrics I showed!
It is a 1080p display which tests show will save you 12% (approx) compared to a native QHD display, so you gain battery here but lose some PPI. I think that is a fair trade by Samsung. The new chip looks like giving around 10% extra battery so I would say that even coming down from 4000mAh from the S21, the battery life will be similar. I would expect 4Hr SoT based on my usage, 5G and 60% brightness with 120Hz used mainly. That will get me through the day with no issues. So for the right person battery life should not be a concern.
Outstanding beautifully design really. The most interesting part is when you see the phone from the edges, you see only flat surface either from front or back. And that just killing other phones.
Glad to hear Samsung keeps a flat screen. I currently have the Galaxy S20 5G and really it's still an excellent phone 2 years later. I am only upgrading to S22 because it's available on my plan and someone I know will be able to benefit from my current S20. I hope the S22 will be as good as the 20.
@@timhenderson9794 Pretty happy with the Galaxy S22. Good sound, well built. Flat screen is 100% better, especially around the corners. Customization galore.. I only hate the bloatware and useless Samsung apps forced on customers. There is a hairline crack on the screen (unit unfortunately fell hard from high position quite a while ago, but the unit is working like nothing happened, which is reassuring.) S20 was a good unit. After almost 4 months of using a 13 Pro, I decided No More! So I sold this thing in literally less than 10 minutes for a little over $1000 and I preordered a regular S22 in white. Apparently it’s also bundled with a pair of Buds Pro and I’ll also receive a $50 coupon to probably buy a case for it. Pretty sweet deal PS: Apparently, removing the back cover to maybe replace the battery some time in the future, is relatively easy to use, if you have the tools for that.

I got S22 Snapdragon for a week now. Its battery gets heated up when playing games or taking photos. Battery is charged at 100% and left with 30% with SOT 2hr56m of 10hrs (120hz mode). Mainly use for surfing net, a little while of playing game and work thing.
@@Interloper322 it is. I totally regretted buying it. It's been more than a month now, it couldn't get me to more than 4hrs of SOT (full charge at 85% and start charging before it hits 20%). Even a lot of the Korean users are complaining bout its poor battery life too.
Since am watching too much videos to decide. S22+ is 4500mAh plus 45w charge. VS S22 3700mAh and 25 charge. So unfortunately S22+ is better. However, real life perfomance is crucial. so lets see when they review them after the official release.

The form factor looks a lot like my Flip 3, only smaller... and permanently flipped open, of course. Being a big S-pen fan, I'd probably go for the ultra, if I ever choose to give up the clamshell design. I really hope they figure out a way to give the Flip 4 S-pen compatibility... pretty unlikely, since I don't think there is a way to add the digitizer layer to the screen. 😪 Unfortunately the Fold is simply overkill in every way, for my situation.

Same as samsung s10e, was a great phone. Underrated
Symmetrical bezels on an Android. What a nice design feature!
Pixel 5 already had that
Finally, a beautiful bezel but can't afford. Hihi
What a copy designe from iPhone and S22 uktra from 5 year old Xperia phones.

@@prcvl Yes but don't joke. The Pixel 5 bezels weren't as thin as Apple's.
We finally have a thin enough symmetrical bezel phone to compete with Apple's. In the end Pixel also proceeded with a fatter forehead on their newer flagships
@@KelvinTan133 compete with apple's, their bezels are so damn thick, notch further deteriorates the viewing experience 😆
Cheers!
Can i Buy S21 ultra from you ???
i have s21 ultra and have pre ordered s22 because of smaller size 🙂.
In my opinion 256gb should be standard with every flagship phone nowadays since 4k and 8k videos take up alot of space.
Especially that it doesnt have internal storage anymore too.
@@cosmicaler Which is why I'll stick with my s10e and wait for the S24👊💯

@@mustang66312 The way how modern phones are without expandable storage and the removal of the headphone jack. It's unlikely they'll bring the SD Slot. I'll expect to expand the storage instead of the 128gb model.
@@fidelm3371 that’s why the Sony Xperia 1IV is the best phone on the market. Still has SD card slot & headphone jack, Sony did great job with optimization of software. Price sucks though
After scrolling through S22 Ultra videos indefinitely I finally found a video on the s22.
Glad I could help!

I think tho the battery is smaller. Don't forget the screen is as well. So it will waste less power. I ordered mine I think it will more nicer to hold then the ultra with the square body and pointed edges.

The small size is my favorite "feature." S7 was a great size.
Agreed, so much S22 Ultra hype but this is a real everyday phone for most people while the Ultra is a bit excessive even for my needs

How are you finding it
I'm planning to switch from s20+ to this small phone. How is the battery? Do you feel downgraded?
I now have mine and it is good but being completely honest I miss my big screen. Stuff is a bit sharper and quicker but not hugely noticeable over the s20plus I had. If I hadn't cracked my screen I would kept the s20 plus and saved money.
Does this phone have an area for sim cards? I like to save my pictures on SIM instead of internal memory. Thanks!
@@aman2911. I'm also in the same situation because I already traded in my s20+ but seeing all these videos about the battery is making me worry a bit

Best early take on this phone so far (Iv watched a lot of people talking about the Samsung S22, + and ultra and yours is the best iv watched). Subbed.
Thanks Matt! Spent a good amount of time with this phone the last few days. I prefer to review based on real life experience rather than specs and benchmarks.
@@ShaneSymonds Well i have watch loads of videos on the latest Samsungs and me and my Mrs were on the fence and really not impressed by the generic RUclipsr talk.

The bezel looks incredibly well made!! But the only concern is the small battery capacity! Please test on the battery life!

What about the camera? Does it take good pics of the moon? Or the sky? I know he said it did not. But it's still expensive for it not to take good pics of the things I mentioned.
from geekbench tweeter
After extensive internal testing we have determined the following Samsung Galaxy handsets use GOS:
- Samsung Galaxy S22 (all models)
- Samsung Galaxy S21 (all models)
- Samsung Galaxy S20 (all models)
- Samsung Galaxy S10 (all models)
Today we delisted these handsets from the Android Benchmark chart on the Geekbench Browser.
We view this as a form of benchmark manipulation as major benchmark applications, including Geekbench, are not throttled by this service.
Excellent review. My wife and bought this model for its size. Coming from the s10e. I feel better now about our choice. 🙂
I might get a new battery for it at some point, but now way am I giving up my beloved S10e for a phone with no sd card and no headphone jack

No worries!
Great phone and good video! thanks.
Finally, finally, finally....a video about the regular S22, rather than the +/Ultra. I have the Green/256GB on pre-order from T-Mobile.
Not worried about battery with heavy usage? I really like the regular as well as I don't want bigger than 6.2 inch. Still bit hesitate due to battery life.

Multitasking is a bit tiny on the 6.1" display on the S22.

5 hrs SOT was kinda disappointing at first, but then I noticed the maps and gaming. I don't game much on phones and if I'm using maps my phone is usually plugged in. Will probably be closer to 5.5 or 6 hrs for others uses, which I think will be good enough for me. Excited to upgrade from my s9
same here using s10e
Yep and the maps was on max brightness with the extra brightness setting on. I was using the phone the way I normally use it which is probably more aggressive than the average user. Could definitely extend past the metrics I showed!
@@ShaneSymonds Great to hear! Thanks
I'm doing same thing. Is it better than the s20?
@@timhenderson9794 Pretty happy with the Galaxy S22. Good sound, well built. Flat screen is 100% better, especially around the corners. Customization galore.. I only hate the bloatware and useless Samsung apps forced on customers.
There is a hairline crack on the screen (unit unfortunately fell hard from high position quite a while ago, but the unit is working like nothing happened, which is reassuring.) S20 was a good unit. S22 feels the same.

In a sea of ultra reviews I really appreciate the in depth review of the regular and plus models.
Is it really worth it to get the S22 plus over the regular one when it comes to battery performance?
I haven't used the S22 Plus yet, but I'm thinking that will be the best choice of the 3 (S22/Plus/Ultra)
Since am watching too much videos to decide. S22+ is 4500mAh plus 45w charge. VS S22 3700mAh and 25 charge. So unfortunately S22+ is better. However, real life perfomance is crucial. so lets see when they review them after the official release.

Amazing video! Is it possible for a follow up with more battery testing and speaker testing? I want to know how it would sound when my galaxy buds pro run out of battery!
Thank you very much for this since everyone is focusing on Ultra. It's really help me make decision easier about battery life. It's only my concern. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you.

@@ShaneSymonds Can you please try to do a battery life test at the lowest refresh rate/battery saver mode before the 21st. That would help many of us decide and also get the pre-order goodies.
Excellent video. I would suggest considering adding some soft / subtle background music to add more colour and elevate the experience even more.
Those symmetrical bezels look sexy ngl 👀
I just bought this phone 2 days and dude! It is amazing.. by far one of the best smartphones I owned.. If you want a flagship phone at the same not spending too much.. s22 is perfect for you
Coming from a s10e if the size was not gonna be similar to what I have I was never gonna upgrade but this year the deals are crazy I somehow got a s22 and S8 tab for free with money left over.
Waiting on this as an upgrade tomorrow very excited 😊
Looking forward to hearing more about the batterylife
How is the battery life on the S22. Is it comparable to the S22 Plus since it uses less battery (due to smaller screen)?
It's a cool phone Shane but i pre-ordered the s22 ultra I'm a note fan so I'm trading my note 20 Ultra with a $1000 credit off the phone stay safe and take care great videos u have 😎👍👍🙏🙏
Congrats on the pre order!
What a video ...just when i was having all sorts of doubts over buying this piece of art . God bless u sir , appreciate the hard work behind this
Thank you so much for this. Finally a video on the regular one. I am so sick of coming across all the Ultra videos. I really appreciate you taking out the time to make this.
After a long time, I have been tempted to switch to Android. Currently using a 12 mini and love its size and form factor. I am heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem so it is a bit difficult to shift to Android. Both are great. Its just that iOS makes it more convenient for me but then again if I do switch I will probably end up getting a S22 due to its form factor, design and gorgeous display.
I am planning to update to s22 from my s9+, only concer is battery life snd i don't want any bigger phone then s22 in size and i don't play games or any heavy duty stuff just insta, YT etc
Basic use this will be plenty good
Nice! Been telling this to everyone who's worried about the battery life. Coming from a note 9 with a 4000 mAh and bigger screen.
Have a note 9 debating on what to get this or S 22 plus or ultra 🤔.
@@onesent-zn2cv I preordered the s22 2 days ago. I'm just fed up with big phones. Going compact.
@@nikodroid21Same here. Pre-orderd the S22 Pink Gold 6.1"inch ver 😁
@@gtone339 sexy sleek black for me.😁
I am forced to upgrade to a 5G phone through T-Mobile. I've been on the fence as to what phone to get, I think this one put me over. Thanks for a great review.
Already pre-ordered this in white 256GB config, has already been shipped by my carrier and should receive it in a matter of days, before launch at that! Cannot wait! My only dilemma now is finding a decent case that I can get right now and not wait a matter of months!
I ordered cases on Amazon and Ebay.
Bellroy released some S22 cases that I am super excited to check out. Ordered every single one lol will probably make a video on it.
@@Sum1Special which ones?
@@Flash363 I typed in Samsung Galaxy S22 case on Amazon and eBay and plenty of them came up.
@@Sum1Special lol yes I've seen hundreds of them across the internet, I was asking about specifics in case you knew of some not so well known brands that work well. Thanks.
I've been searching for S22 vids, and only s22 ultra videos pops up.
First time got a RUclipsr making on s22 only.
Now let's get some more battery reviews.
