I literally went and bought an iPhone 13 being an android user my whole life to give them a chance. I returned the iPhone within 1 week and went for Samsung Galaxy S22 & I LOVE IT
I have both and definitely have a deeper love for Android. Don't get me wrong, I really like my iPhone 13 Pro as well but there is just something about the Android experience, lol.
I got the phantom black base S22 model with 256GB, love it. The one handed functionality and hand feel is awesome. That is something I have missed, phones are getting larger and larger which is nice but it's just not a functional form factor. I really appreciate the fact that Samsung has chosen to go the opposite way, many people have been wanting a more maneuverable one handed experience flagship but lately no manufacturer was producing any, which is when I heard that the next Samsung would be even smaller than the S21 and more compact, I jumped on the pre order and excitement. I have received my S22 and it's amazing. Don't think I'll be upgrading for a couple of years.
@@nain9318 It's alright, not 5000 mAh status but it's decent I'd say, as long as you use a lower refresh rate and dark mode along with power saving and adaptive brightness enabled it should last you a whole day. I feel like it's about 65-70 % capacity of what an ultra's 5000 mAh gets you.
@RUclips User how do you find the battery after a couple weeks usage? I just got mine Thursday and it is still learning my useage. I find that i am getting same battery life as my 3 year old phone S9 plus which isn't great. Maybe it will improve after 1 week.
I have had mine for several days now. my other phones are pixel 6 and 13 Pro. The S22 is really nice. by far my fav Android phone. lighter than the 13 pro which is great. pro is too heavy. the phone is smooth as silk. screen is gorgeous, and it's Fast. it isn't a battery champ. but enough for me and my usage. absolutely Love the feel. the curved sides are really nice feeling. love it. can't express how good this phone is.

I completely agree with you. The phone is perfect except the fact that the sides aren't matte. If the sides had a matte finish, it would have been truly perfect
Idk about yours but my units shows only 3590 mah capacity with Ampere apps which is a little bit shy from 3700 mah advertised. Otherwise I can confirm to be able to get around 5.5-6h sot in normal usage with adaptive brightness and refresh rate on.
I just received my black S22 256gb the day before yesterday. I used the promo to trade in a 5 yo Note 8 which netted me a $200 profit. This is the best phone ever! I have a iPhone 12 Mini 256 gb and the S22 is so much better. You can actually use a browser and the customizing ability blows Apple out of the water. This is the perfect compact phone that is 100% usable. Build quality and aesthetics is right there with Apple. I have both phones in Spigen case which seem to protect well without adding much thickness as well as being very reasonably priced.

looks like a breath of fresh air from my note 8, even tho the ultra is the perfect upgrade i’ll just go with the S22+ in phantom black, it matches the color of my earbuds perfectly.
Yeah the decision was tough for me. I wasn't sure if I wanted the regular S22 or the S22+. Ended up going with this one solely due to the smaller size. The battery is a little suspect but if I can average around 5 1/2 hours of screen on time, I'm good. But the S22+ will definitely be better from when it comes to battery!
It's weird to say that the S22 plus is actually smaller than the ultra because it seems like they cut down the height but the width is slightly larger than the ultra. When I add a case to it, it actually feels wider than the ultra.

I've been looking at user posted battery consumption for s22 the past 2 days, it got 7-8 hours of SoT which is already more than my s20 ultra. Not sure about s21 SoT.

I think most of the thumbs down are for the "matte finish" comment regarding the metal chassis. If you want that cheaper matte finish, try the FE or some mid-range or budget phone. A polished metal chassis is reserved for premium, flagship lines.
@Ajp Gamer hey I'm all for having an expandable storage option. But pretty much all flagship androids don't have that feature. Kind of like the 3.5mm headphone jack becoming extinct. I don't think the decline in sales for the Galaxy S lineup is because of the missing expandable storage.
It's true but sadly the battery isn't that great. I got like 6 hours of screen on time the first day but after that not so much. Like yesterday, I took the phone off the charger around 9am and it died on me around 9pm but I barely used the phone all day. I had like maybe almost 5 hours of screen on time.

Yup mine came in a few days ago works great I don't notice the difference from S21 except for the storage part 256 better from 128 I use to have in my S21
I'm testing it out but seems like it does. Definitely barely a full day phone. It's still "learning my pattern usage" but yesterday I was able to get a full day.
Don't forget the battery Is the same as the others in a way. Because it is a smaller screen less power drain. Not a QHD as ultra because again you will need a bigger battery. Samsung as tweaked the software to stop power wasting too
Cmon samsung we miss the mini versions. A mini version same size and quality as the a3 would be awsome! Many people are coverting to ios because of this size problem. Remember its a (mobile) phone, not a labtop or tablet. I get u need more room for bigger batteries in order to power a fast phone etc. But maybe we reached the limits of what a (mobile) phone should do for now.
I was planning on buying the regular iPhone 13 because I really liked the midnight black one, but then while I was still saving money, the S22 came and I just really liked how they do the phantom black.
I pre-ordered on the 20th, Samsung is still pending the transaction :( Really excited for the phone, green was pretty tempting bad I had to go with black :)
Hard to say yet. I haven't been able to test all the cases yet but I really like the Torras Slim Fit and the Spigen Rugged Armor so far. The OtterBox Commuter is in the running as well so far.
My phone is delayed until 25th of marsh sadly.. due to the crisis in Ukraine. So yeah. But I hope it arrives sooner than that. :) I can’t wait to get my black S22! Needed an upgrade from my S10.

Infinity-O does not come from tiny bezels, it is because of camera bump at the front (for example Galaxy A70 has infinity-U). Great unboxing!

I like how I plug it in and tells me to use the charger and wire that came with the phone.
Battery lasts 4 hours of light use. RUclips Netflix and any streaming app causes frame rate drop and looks jittery and playback is terrible.

Unfortunately not like how you're wanting. There are apps that will do some sort of LED lighting but not like how it was back in the day

Nice review! I'm still in doubt between the S22 or S22+.. leaning towards the S22+ because of the bigger battery and 45 watt charging.

Big battery is nice, also teardowns shows that the plus version has additional vapor chamber for cooling so thats a "plus" :p .

Don't forget the battery Is the same as the others in a way. Because it is a smaller screen less power drain. Not a QHD as ultra because again you will need a bigger battery. Samsung as tweaked the software to stop power wasting too

Cmon samsung we miss the mini versions. A mini version same size and quality as the a3 would be awsome!
Many people are coverting to ios because of this size problem. Remember its a (mobile) phone, not a labtop or tablet.
I get u need more room for bigger batteries in order to power a fast phone etc. But maybe we reached the limits of what a (mobile) phone should do for now.
iPhone discontinued their mini line too. The smallest iPhone is the regular 14. Which is the same size as the regular s22

I was planning on buying the regular iPhone 13 because I really liked the midnight black one, but then while I was still saving money, the S22 came and I just really liked how they do the phantom black.

The S22 is more beautiful than the iPhone 13, but the 13 Pro is by far the best in terms of design. Too bad it's so pricey

Hard to say yet. I haven't been able to test all the cases yet but I really like the Torras Slim Fit and the Spigen Rugged Armor so far. The OtterBox Commuter is in the running as well so far.
Pitaka carbon fiber case is sooo well fitting I love it on mine

It definitely is. The regular S22 didn't have a black option. It was called Phantom Gray. It's a good looking color but I definitely prefer black.
