I find the screen protector on the S22 hinders the fingerprint scanner to quite a great degree. With gorilla glass victus it is really not needed. On the iphone 13 it is. I own both phones and the oleophobic coating on the s22 is superior.

This was a phenomenally done comparison review. I own both (this being my first android) and wanted to get another’s perspective on it. Being an iPhone owner for so long I wasn’t sure how an android switch would effect me. After some time using it and watching the video I have to say you absolutely nailed it, without even showing bias. The simplicity and user friendly aspect of Apple is why I’ve been stuck with it for so long. The android while it has excellent features, is just a little too much going on for my taste. As far as camera and pics, I initially thought the android was the better with the 3 cameras but the iPhone has a more richer contrast and true to real life image as opposed to the S22 with its much brighter shot, which isn’t necessarily bad. The video chat I’ve noticed is more clear with the S22, but the battery seems to be better with iPhone. Over all I’m happy with iPhone and don’t need anything extra or spectacular for someone that uses it casually.
The telephoto lens on the Samsung plus android customisations were the main deal breakers for me while going with Samsung. Also, as I already have iPhone 12 mini as my other phone, Samsung was a clear choice for me while also enjoying Apple iOS ecosystem. Also, got the s22 a year later after launch still giving a phenomenal value at about 480 USD.
Tried both as primary phone. iphone 13 for 7 months and then s22 for 2+ months. Camera wise iphone 13 is the clear winner. Also, s22 is laggy. iphone 13 never hanged/lagged for me. Battery wise as well iphone 13 is a winner. Only thing going for s22 is android OS with more customization but that's not enough to make up for bad performance, battery and camera. Iphone 13 is the clear winner.
@@dirtydirtsgt4751 It's not exynos. Seems like something is wrong with my unit specifically. It lags even when running 1 or 2 apps at a time. I have Note20 5G as well and never had that problem.
I have had the s22 ultra since mid may 2022 and absolutely love it, I'm a spen guy since the note 3. But I bought my daughter an iPhone 13 on 7/18/22 and myself an iphone 11 to be able to imessage and FaceTime her. Well that Saturday I took the 11 back and bought an iphone 13 because I loved the IOS experience so much. The Sim card is going to be in the 13 for a while but the s22 still is better in so many ways, so I'll be carry both.
Great video on S22 vs Iphone 13, as always Nick!! As someone who looks to buy a phone it is important to know one's priorities and preferences!! Cause both these phones are world class when it comes to form factor cameras, display and OS. The deciding factor should be which ecosystem are you willing to invest your time and money in, knowing that once you are in there, it is pretty hard to switch over to the other. I have a Samsung phone, but I also have an Apple Ipod, so technically I am in two ecosystems that if i chose one or the other it would be beneficial.
It's very easy to switch between Android and iOS and you can do it with every new phone you buy. The key is to use Google apps as your default apps on both. Contacts and calendar switch pretty easily and automatically between the two OSs. For Photos, use Google Photos, so you will always have your photos on both OS. Or like me, you can backup to both Apple and Google Photos. Makes your chances of ever losing your photos negligible.
Here's the thing though. If you want to make the point of the 120hz panel being an advantage of the s22 over the iPhone, you better realize that battery difference. If you want to compare the 60hz battery lives, then you can't make the argument that the 120hz is an advantage anymore. The same goes for the 8gen 1 processor. The 8 gen 1 processor can crank out pretty great performance, but it also is more inefficient with power usage (pretty big power draw to yield higher performance) resulting in lower battery life. All things considered, the iPhone wins in the battery department. Not commenting on anything else, but just the battery itself.
As someone who has the S22. If you are not really tied on the android ecosystem, go for the iPhone 13. If I'm not a big Dex user, I would've switched long ago.
My I ask why? I've used Samsung for years, but the battery life on the iPhone is actually making me consider a switch. Can you tell me a little bit about your experience?
Great to see Chicago !! Moved from there to Kenosha, Wisconsin. Went iPhone from Samsung Galaxy A52 5G!! Had too many problems last year !! 😪 ! Had an Samsung Android Update that corrupted operating system and Settings!! Now going from Android Expert to Transitioning and learning iPhone!! Totally excited and looking forward to taking the Train from Kenosha, Wisconsin to Chicago this Summer ☀️ !!!
I love my iPhone 13 but the only thing that bugs me is that it keeps bugging me to upgrade my iCloud storage but I have 128GB this is I’d say my 3rd iPhone as I’m the type of person to switch back and fourth between iPhone and Samsung. But I’m thinking about going back to Samsung because I never got bugged about my storage being low. I love the fluidity, premium feel,Security updates, and longevity of iPhones but if technology eventually ages no matter what brand it is the longevity doesn’t matter as the battery in it will age and same with Samsung. I will admit I can get through my shift at my job with around 20% left and I love the fast charging. Plus I miss USB C cause it’s compatible with everything now a lot of people including myself are upset that Apple made their usb c but only the charger block part not the cord itself which was pretty bogus. So I may switch to Samsung soon because the phone is so pretty and I’m starting to miss Samsung so much like the customization, the better camera, always on display, unlimited storage without bugging you to upgrade cloud storage or whatever.
@@ABIOG15 picked Iphone finally. Ergonomic of Samsung was better. But I was using android for 10 years and when take Samsung in hands saw the same UI, the same interface, so I decided to use something new. Have not regretted yet.
I’m looking at both and wow it’s a difficult decision. Photos are better on s22 but I think video is is better on iPhone. My current phone is iPhone 7 so both would be a big upgrade after 5 years. Looked at prices yesterday and s22 seems like the better value. Close to $ 250 difference.
The iphone has more realistic photo results, while the s22's camera puts more light and brightness into the pictures. Developers put more time and effort into providing a seamless software experience into their apps (ie: ig video and twitter quality, Procreate), and Apple has provided multiple software updates for phones, the last one being the 6s from 2015 being able to run ios 15. The choice between apple and android depends on personal preference, but personally speaking, I prefer more life-like, blacker blacks and better tones in pictures, therefore choosing the iPhone. S22 has better nightmode, zoom capability, higher mp count and an advantage in really dark places, but for an average user, I think the iPhone 13 would be better since it offers better knit of the apple ecosystem, easier os interface, software integration, and the longest of software updates. Do prove me wrong tho, I respect everyone's persepctives.🙂
I just switched to iphone 13 from samsung s9+ and honestly speaking, I feel a bit disappointed in iphone 13’s camera because it always seem dark/over sharpening the image which makes it look less realistic sometime even look fake. I love photos taken by s22 bcz it looks brighter and realistic than over sharpened photos on the iphone. I am also disappointed with the zooming capability of iphone 13. However when it comes to the OS, interface and ecosystem, I love my iphone
What i liked about your reviews is that your are speaking reception signal strength that important. We have forgotten these are phones to talk with time. I appreciate that in your video
after long long consideration, i just cant pass on the S22 range, main reason is s22 and S22 plus feel so sleek and light compared to the heavier iPhone pros, the rest is very similar, if you want polish get the iphone, if you want features get the S22.
I have the s22+ and 13 pro max. Trying to decide on which one to stick with. Just tired of the bulky size of the iphone. The s22+ just feels so much better, lighter weight but still solid, almost same size screen but no notch and not as wide.
Flawless job Nick!!! I've chosen the S22, because I have FLAC files and also a sony XM4 headphones, with an iphone there is no support for LDAC, and who knows if there is gonna be any someday...

@@saiyanc137 That's irrelevant. The iPhone 13 could've had a high-refresh screen. It's been on Android since 2019 but Apple just want to pump up the Pro models.
@@harrydrake4173 true. But imo iphone 13 is still quite a value for it's price plus you got that Apple logo as a status symbol lol. It only exists to make the Note20 Ultra looks like the most value for money and the worth one to buy
A minor correction. With the s22 you get to do you everyday task perfectly fine without any hiccups, on top of that it gives you capabilities which iPhone doesn't. I still think iPhone invests heavily in influencers, because s22 does whatever the iPhone can and even more. So the clear winner is the s22. The only thing iPhone had going for it is the Battery life, but when you buy either of these phone you still got to charge them everyday. Doesn't make any difference, plus the s22 recharges way faster than the iPhone does.
During the photos segment, the winner of this battle for me was determined: the Galaxy S22. You can tell WAY more detail than the iPhone, especially in darker areas. It's almost embarassing for Apple... Not even close.
Samsung is just boosting the shadows, and often overexposes, it’s incredibly HDR-y and produces very flat images as a result. But I can see why people prefer them.
@@justintimefr We are. As I said, I can see why people prefer them. Camera people, video producing people, of which I’m one of, would definitively take the iPhone pictures over the Samsung ones (more often than not). Also, regular people tend just to pic whatever is brighter when shown pictures side-by-side, hence why in so many blind camera tests mediocre cameras can edge out a victory by simply over exposing.
@@augustofretes I don't think we are looking at the same pictures brother. It's not about over-exposure on the Galaxy S22, it's about actually seeing areas and details that simply don't appear on the iPhone because of its poor exposure (at least in this sample size)...
@@justintimefr It's not poor exposure. Samsung's approach to HDR is just boosting the shadows until they basically have the same exposure as the actually lit parts of the picture, you could boost the shadows in post with the iPhone as well. Both cameras are stellar, to be clear. And you should pick whatever phone takes the pictures you like, not the phone that takes the technically more accurate pictures, because other than a few nerds like myself, who cares. Whatever takes the pictures you like the most by default, is what you should pick! Otherwise you'll need to spend time editing them :)

In most of the camera footage the Samsung looked better, it had more details in blacks and was generally sharper without oversharpening which the iPhone seemed to do sometimes. I still think though that OneUI just seemes a bit dated at this point, wish it was stock android 12 which looks much better in my opinion. Still some way to go.
I would strongly recommend changing your launcher. It's a massive benefit on android phones that isnt worth not checking out. I'm using Nova Launcher, and theres a ton of other options, all with tons of customisation, and if you don't like them, you can just go back to default. Customisation often isn't mentioned enough in these videos
I researched every time I buy I product. I finally selected iPhone because their eco system is so great, other brand still not up to their standard. If you don't care about ecosystem there's lot of options like pixel 7 pro (best valued phone) or Samsung.

If I could only use this video as point of reference for video and photos, the Samsung wins hands down. Detail in the lighter photos and S22 destroyed the iPhone on the goose footage. iPhone looks 2 gens lower. Front facing video as well is much cleaner on Samsung.
S22 is the most iPhone feel I have seen on a Samsung by far.... Just got it, upgraded from S20. So getting a feel for it at the moment. Loved my S20, in terms of a leap in quality, probably the phone that was the jump that Samsung made to signal the major close of the gap between Android and Iphone....
I remember before I bought a great mirrorless camera I would actually care about phone cameras. Now, its the last thing I care about. You really can't go wrong with any phone camera nowadays, but of course if you want actual quality, you need to buy a separate dedicated camera. I need to upgrade and will probably go with the s22 but it seems to not matter much. Both are more powerful than the average consumer needs them to be by light-years.
@@im4320 I've found personally that samsung's battery degredation tends to be faster than apple's. I think this year with the 8 gen 1 processors running a bit hotter than last years, that trend will continue. Also, I'm pretty sure apple's resale value is quite a bit better than samsung's. At least my friend sold his iphone X for like 350 USD a few months ago, and samsung s9's (released in the same year) are at like 200. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
iPhones are already flawless in: camera, battery, display I see room for improvement in: design, system Specifically: Notch, USB-C, always-on, less bezel, weight, android-like notification dropdown from the middle, android-like universal back button.

@@teeco_yt sure but it cut performances about 30%. No replacement for displacement. Always.
The only benefit of iOS is iMessage & FaceTime. Without those 2 no one would be using iPhone.
That's a fact😂😭
Do you have the exynos variant
S22 shouldn't lag and generally has better cameras ubless you get a poor yield unit which is usually exynos
Yh
I agree with you
It's very easy to switch between Android and iOS and you can do it with every new phone you buy.
I phone=sheep and copy cat back and fourth switching
If you put the s22 into 60htz all the time like the iPhone 13 is the battery will be massively better
Terribly true!
@@benjaminli3808 Iphone can only win in the battery department, nothing else. Unfortunately.
@doodle nope, im switching back to samsung. I am using iphone 13 for 5 months and i dont like it
As someone who has the S22.
So I may switch to Samsung soon because the phone is so pretty and I’m starting to miss Samsung so much like the customization, the better camera, always on display, unlimited storage without bugging you to upgrade cloud storage or whatever.
the more I watch videos like this, the harder it is for me to choose between these two phones 😹
Same here. I don't know which to choose.

A minor correction. With the s22 you get to do you everyday task perfectly fine without any hiccups, on top of that it gives you capabilities which iPhone doesn't.
@@augustofretes Are we looking at the same pictures?
