  • Off of the original album FROM 1985....killing is my business...and business is good!
I am a snyper, always hit the mark
    Paid assassin, working after dark
    Looking through the night
Using infra-red my target on you
    Aimed at your head
    $10,000 up front, $10,000 when I'm through
And I know just what to do
And ya know I'll do it too
Then I'm coming back for you
    Back for you!
I do the "getting rid of" don't tell me why
Don't need to hear the truth, don't need the lies
Now pay me quickly and now we're through
It brings me great pleasure to say my next job is you
    Don't you know that
    Killing is my business
    And business is good
    You'd better believe it

Always preferred Kill 'Em All over Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets, it's not quite the same as Killing Is My Business and it's a little more basic but I notice the same "raw" young energy in Kill 'Em All that really I enjoy.
That said, Killing Is My Business is ideal to me though, 'cause add to that raw, young Kill 'Em All fomula some jazz elements, crazier compositions and a _really_ pissed off leader and you get the best thing to bless my ears.

Megadeth has the best metal combinations: complexity, groove, rawness, speed, structure, energy, etc. They combined it all into one song: Wake Up Dead, The Conjuring, Take No Prisoners, RIP Polaris, this song, etc.
However, the major weakness is the vocals of Dave Mustaine.

The first remaster of KIMB is pretty decent. I would agree that most Megadeth remasters are worse than the original though. Even when you try to improve a piece it removes some of the history of the piece. See: And Justice for All. Everyone in Metallica, including the production team, agrees that the mix is terrible. But most of them respect that it is what it is, including Newstead.

This album in its original form is best. The remaster does sound good, but yeah original Megadeth albums are where its at. The albums should have just been remastered. The remixing did not help many of the albums. Most sounded fine the way they were. I hope that someone tells Dave that. He should re-issue the albums just remastered one day.

  • @11DNA11

Just to correct you.. Ellefson started to use a pick after KIMB was recorded. The songs became too fast for him to play with his fingers, so he took up a pick.
So the song you hear here is recorded without a pick. :)

@sdfan00 I'm not arguing :D I'm just having a conversation with you. But what Megadeth did different than Metallica was that their music remained more or less the same as in the beginning, where as Metallica changed their music to a more rock like direction (for example with Black album and then on Load and Reload) and attracted a whole new type of crowd with their music, not just metal listeners but more rock fans also, while Megadeth remained only as a metal band, so they're lesser known.

@sdfan00 They didn't "choose" to become mainstream, they became mainstream because they music was good. They grew a bigger fanbase after each album and that lead to what they are now.
So in short, you don't want to like Metallica because their music is good, right?
Some people seem to forget why some things become mainstream, it's because they're actually that good.

Using a pick is normally because its the sound you want. Alot of my fav bassists use fingers i.e. Cliff Burton, Steve Harris, Frank Bello etc but i prefer the sound of the pick, for thrash atleast

@Deathshuck thats a matter of opinion of course, just because something is mainstream doesn't mean it's good, i could name lists and lists of people who were/are mainstream and were far from good. Personally I like metallica's first five albums but other may disagree and they entitled too, i also like st.anger, dunno why but i just do. Also though I must prefer megadeth to metallica since they have in my opinion more good/great music overall

@ryan49er1 you are ight, I've recently read "Mustaine: A life in metal", he doesn't bitch about Lars half as much as you'd think but it was great. It does show that it was going to happen.

@HeavyMetalBeliever yea ur rite but bottom line still luv the original cuz david ellfesons bass playing is incredible next to cliff burtons. this guy is underrated as a bass player n my opinion. his fills and speed and groove jus blow me away!

He plays rhythm guitar, not lead. Chris Poland has that honor. Dave played the lead for songs that aren't vocal heavy, but if they are (like this song, however amazing it is), he plays rhythm.
