Yeah there's no sense denying that heavy metal rockstars are not exactly rocket scientists. They're pretty low down the intellectual food chain.
@@EricJohnsa *MEGADETH*
@M1911A1 I was mostly being tongue-in-cheek with my commenting I did not wish to overlook the fact that there is a high amount of musical genius found in this song, because it is awesome. No doubt. I'm an old school metal guy. Granted I may have never been to a metal concert or involved myself in the metal culture of sorts but I do like the music.
@@No_Deal ok, ya got me there
Hi guys, sorry for the spam but we're a small channel that does reaction videos.
We have done a reaction on this song and several other Megadeth songs.
We would kindly appreciate it if you could go check it out as it means a lot to us.
Constructive criticism is always welcomed.
Thanks!
I won't lie, I actually never knew Hangar 18 had a music video until now.

I love the opening it's like it's straight out of an 80's sci-fi movie
i’m kinda new to megadeth can someone tell me whos the skeleton guy in the suit that’s on their album covers?
@BrettPlaysGames that’s so badass i think i just found my next halloween costume🤷🏽♂️
@@vigilanttt619 It's Vic Rattlehead, it's the mascot for Megadeth and embodies the phrase "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil." He's also a symbol of censorship.
You mean just like the era this was released????
Hangar 18 was an actual 80s sci-fi movie that inspired the song.

My music teacher is teaching us about music genres (like most of us don’t already know them already) and me and my friends will be listening to a country song or something and we’ll just be like: “man, this is an epic jazz song.”
silky smooth jazz
Marty's lead work is just jaw-dropping
it is!! i found a guy that managed to recreate it and his friends said that he possible even did a better job than friedman! WOW! ruclips.net/video/k0lKPXz5a_s/видео.html 😛
Indeed!
In Cacophony he was definitely outclassed by Becker in the technical category but his melodic/musical genius is just flabbergasting, I remember seeing a vid from mid 90s or whatever showing off his improv skills....I wish my brain worked like his, I can play his stuff if I try hard enough but to be able to create this level of goodness is just amazing....Lucretia, Killing Road, hell even Where Moth and Rust Destroy by Tourniquet where he did a guest solo
Plus he's so unique in his style, I'm of the type to imitate my idols, at least like 10 years ago, finding a "unique" electric guitar voice in the modern rock/metal world is basically impossible so oh well
That rhythm changeup during the solo still catches me off guard after 20 years
探していた素材は、うるさいけど。これや。あ?MEGADETHや。DEATHではない、aはないねん。(-_-;)
Extremely talented, some things only musicians can appreciate.
That change and the change after are two of the most fun riffs and riff changes to play on rhythm guitar. Dave really makes your hands cramp when copying his playing.
@@user-sc5oy2es3y
hopefully this translates well.
I’m pretty sure that Dave just thought that the logo looked better without the a in “Death”
@@derBrezelmannno there is a word in the dictionary called megadeth and its like the name for a thousand nukes or something
Before Area 51: *HANGAR 18*
After Area 51: *RETURN TO HANGAR*
Marty Friedman was one of the aliens from this song, Return to Hangar was on the album just after he left the band and there were no incredible solos on the track. Megadeth really went to Hangar 18 to find a new lead guitarist.

Ever noticed Dawn Patrol playing at the beginning? I never noticed that until recently.
Sir Skeletor I noticed that the first time I saw the video. The bassline is just too damn good 😂

Me too, only realized when I watched the video.
I noticed it in the first time watching this version of the song

Stay out of my wife's Vargina though!!!!
It is not safe in there on TuesdayS!!!!
@@scottconway392 yeah, I was just air guitaring along and I got pissed off when it skipped a part.
Sad reality is, people like much simpler, stupid music these days that they only react happy, sad, mad, to.....they don't want to think of intricacies like 80s metal portrayed! Come on now!
I didnt even know this had a music video. Why was this only now recommended.
Pure Kek Trash It’s been blocked for years and years.
Because of the area 51 raid
they butchered the song for this video though. not even worth it.
The illuminati tried to kill the footage of the real aliens dressed as star wars characters. What we got was just a re-enactment of the real thing with humans dressed up as star wars characters. It is possible that Dave is an alien himself that is why they let him inside the facility to play the song while the aliens were being examined.

Megadeth is an incredible band. This song is off one of the best metal albums of all times. I bought this CD like 24 years ago. The video was a time and place, man. They're one of the few bands that sound just as good live as studio. Incredibly good quality metal.
+Eric Johnsa they sound EXACT live. I listened to the studio version of this, then the live version, couldn't tell the difference except at the end when dave said "thank you!!!!" and went into a discussion about where he was going after the concert to drink. :D
+Eric Johnsa No auto tune to be found at megadeth's studio.

This catchy little Metal BANGER was recorded the same year my youngest son was born! Been headbangin to this tune for 29 yrs? Man, I’m gettin’ too old for this! I have to get my neck readjusted at the chiropractor every month since I turned 60 last year! It’s not my fault, Megadeth is to blame totally! 🤘🤩🤘
I used to be a backup drummer for my buddy's band from 2009-2012, when their main drummer couldn't make it, I'd drum for them. This song was usually one of the last they'd perform (outside of making their own content, they covered Megadeth) but it was worth it, the pit would go NUTS, especially when some 6'6 dude is on drums and you see every minor detail 😂
Damn do y'all played on RUclips or something?
@@_graznan_4648 No, our stuff was never posted on RUclips, in hindsight, we wish we did post some of our gigs and songs because they were crazy. What's worse is that all of our recordings were lost when our studio (the bassist's garage) burned down, it had literally everything except for some instruments.
4 world class musicians in one group. I miss this lineup
After hearing about Nick Menza, I had to check this classic out! \m/
You will be missed, old friend.
me too man
Rip Nick Menza 😭
For real! He's still my favorite megadeth drummer of all time. He took lessons from Neil Peart, and his dad played the saxophone in the Buddy Rich big band. His dad also played the saxophone in the pink panther cartoon theme song.
I just love those vocals. Mustaine might not be a singer, but for Megadeth's style they're perfect. I wouldn't change the vocalist if they paid me to do so.
Its definitely an acquired taste, no one hears dave mustaine for the first time and is like 'Wowow these vocals are absolutely extraordinary!" but after listening to megadeth a few times, you begin to understand them :) For me at least
GOD
@@mr.hedgehog420 with me, it happened 😂 i liked his voice since the first time, not a common thing i must admit it, but Megadeth's work is exceptional in a general way 😁👍💙
I never understood why so many don't like his voice. I first got into Megadeth back in 2000. When I started reading people online saying that this vocals are an acquired taste, I was like, what? I never would have even thought of it that way in a million years if I hadn't read about people saying that. I think his vocal style fits the band and the music perfectly.
It's thrash metal. If you want to hear melodic and beautiful voices, listen to heavy metal
Best Megadeth line-up ever. R.I.P. Nick Menza - you were an awesome drummer. One of my absolute favorites.

Mercyful Fate You don't seem to understand what "Mozart" means. Those guys are very *technically* gifted. Mustaine is a *creative* genius.
Mercyful Fate Faster =/= better.
Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath will always be my favorite metal guitarist but Dave is an absolute master at what he does.
+Light Yagami
You just named 3 different styles of metal.
Mustaine ( godfather of thrash ), Schuldiner ( godfather of Death ), Petrucci ( Picasso of progressive metal ).
I love how Dawn Patrol plays before the actual song of Hangar 18. Loved this mv, just wanted to return to it and rewatch it, this song is so good too.

Such a brilliant song on every level. The musicianship, video, lyrics & singing (and even Edward J Repka's cover artwork). You can tell Mustaine started trying to sing on this album. Truly a groundbreaking album.
i was just playing a dungeon in wow and the opening riff started just as we entered one of the boss arenas. so badass
2:48 is the best beat i done heard from rock and roll period hands down
No te entiendo nada amigo pero esa parte me bolo la cabeza 😂🔥🔥 muy sebado
Megadeth is a metal band not rock and roll
I like that short introduction of dawn patrol in the beginning
Marty Friedman is just simply a touch of class. 2.48 rhythm work just shows why Megadeth is just the greatest and the most badass metal has to offer.
In all the alien movies this song should be their main theme song 🤘🔥

This is the best megadeth album ever & best megadeth lineup ever marty Friedman may just be the best metal guitarist ever of all time his solos are very different & unique & very original & sound like no one else megadeth had other great albums & lineups but i personally think that the hanger 18 song / album & lineup was by far the best ever that album should be without a doubt one of metals best albums of all time ever & marty friedman must be an alien because nobody should be able to play guitar like that !!!
The first time I heard this my head exploded... thank God it grew back
Imagine people back in 90' hearing "Rust In Peace" and after "Holy Wars" they hear the intro.
I'll be playing this while I storm Area 51 with my bois
RIP Nick Menza..rust in peace.
He left us but does he envy us? We're stuck on a fried dead planet , while he lives on as a legend. All the Prophecies of the Morbid heavy metal songs have come true, human and corporate greed and technological violence like we see in this video have doomed our own human race. Nick menza and his contemporaries predicted the future, and we are now in it
I remember staying up Saturday nights watching headbangers ball waiting for this and recording it on a vcr

Me immediately: In fact, there's a Megadeth song that explains it.
I was in high school when that came out and i think that me and 3 other kids was listening to metal. Our teacher wanted us to bring 2 songs that we liked. We would listen to everyone's selection. I brought a tape of this song my second choise was can i play with madness (iron maiden song). I was so excited to play my songs almost everyone had choosen glam rock ballads and pop music. When it was my turn she asked what was I going to play. I said "a MEGADETH song called hangar 18" and she was taken aback. I pop my tape in and once that first riff started it jurned out the whole classroom. My teacher looked so confused but she stucked to her rule of letting the whole song play. After it ended she said " ...O...K. Well music has different effects on everyone it may scared some, but relax others" Then i turned to my classmate and I asked him if he liked it. He said " it is so fast and scary this is not music is just loud voices. But my headbanger friend said "man it was the best".
