Wow so insightful, thanks for being you
It's a great thing, I've almost tore my hair out from frustration. PC building can be fun, but when it isn't...

Thanks dude. I was about to make a hole in my old case for the fan to suck air from the ambient. Now that you've mentioned the exhaust thingy, I may do that.
This was very helpful, I needed to install a replacement in my pc and hadn't done this before
Glad I could help 😊 Thanks for watching 🙏
Thanks for the info, building a new pc soon and I learned almost everything that I need to know, this was one of those small things I almost forgot, thanks

@@BuildsWithV dude I have the same case with 10 fans in thermaltake T20
idky but the female and male connectors on the back when I connect them all the little 4 prong plug in is the most important thing I need to be longer to fit
To know anyone who is building a pc make sure that your psu will fit inside of your case. You can usually find what size psu a case will take in the listing.
That’s a great point. Thanks for watching 🙏
Damn to late bought a wrong case then
This is what I wanted to know, thanks
I don’t know where the cables plug in I don’t have the same supply but I can’t find a video that shows
Does it matter which end you plug into the psu?
Thanks I just got a pc today
Thanks so much
This was helpful
I only needed the pci-e cord and not the other ones
Great video , i think i need a fan hub.
I apologize if this is a dumb question. I am soon to build a desktop and was wondering a question about the power supply and fan direction. All my previous cases/power supply setups blew air horizontally at the top rear of the case. Would directing the airflow from the power supply vertically upward be beneficial? Are any cases/power supplies setup this way? Thank you.
Nop. Air goes into the power supply to keep it cool.
thanks
I need help my psu is standard and it does not have any modular on my psu and I want to upgrade my GPU so do I need to get a new psu for GPU ?🤔
Thanks man 👍
No problem 👍
What can I do with a 400 watt power supply 80 plus bronze can I put more ram and possibly a graphics card 🤔
My cpu has 4 holes instead of 8 what do I do
My psu didn't come with screws, and the manual said to use the screws that came with the case. The case doesn't have the proper screws :(
I got mine around Christmas. It has coil whine, any solution? Im not running anything crazy, ryzen 5 5600, and a swifter xfx 7600
If my power suply is 400w can i replace it with a higher w?
And pc has a button on top and PS sais switching PS, does that need ti be the same too?
Where do I hook up the 4 dot thing at the end of the cable?
im very nervous about replacing my power supply. even after watching these videos I still feel like I should just pay Geek Squad $40, i dont wanna break anything
I feel it, don’t stress it. If you’re up for trying it I say do it but if you don’t feel comfortable with it I’d say just pay to get it done and you’re good to go. There’s always risks to DIY.
it’s not worth 40 dollars for something you can do in 5 minutes. i did it in like 5 minutes when i built my first pc. it’s not too bad
@@BuildsWithV I'm building my first right now, there is a margin of error before you really damage anything, some parts can take a bit of stress before they break so don't worry too much

Great vid! Is it mandetory to install the 8 pin (atx 12v) on the motherboard if you have the main 24pin ATX connected ? Thanks!
You you still need to plug the 8-pin in because that’s specifically for CPU power. Thanks 🙏
Same it helped
Glad I could help 😊 Thanks for watching
Hey what power supply are u using, like brand wise
So my pc has that metal box thing that the psu slides in… expect it has a little tab thing coming out from the bottom of the case so I can’t pull it out, and when I try to slide it back the hard drive is blocking the way and I don’t see a clear way to remove it. Pc: rog strix prebuilt desktop. I don’t know the model number of my pc but it has a 2070 super and an i7-9700f I think. Another thing I was thinking of was what if it’s not even the power supply, it could be ram, cpu maybe, something else (problem being that rgb turns on and fans spin but no output to moniter or rgb razer stuff.) but now I’m thinking what if I can buy a new case and put all of the components in there? But at the same time I want one of those Xbox’s because they’re in stock all around me. I went a little of track but that’s just how it goes.
Hey, I have a question. So I have a similar PSU except mine is a 750W. I have a 3070 and I’ve been reading that it’s really important to have two separate 8 pin connectors to power the GPU. My pc was prebuilt and they only have one cable from the PSU daisy chained to the GPU. With the current setup of my PSU (similar to yours), would it even be possible to run two separate 8 pin cables from the PSU to the GPU? In other words, is there even enough ports in the PSU to input the two 8 pin cables, or do I need a new PSU? Great video btw!
You’d have to check the back of the psu to see if it has a PCIe port. If it does then you’d have to get the PCIe cable and then you could plug it in properly but that’s a stretch since usually they don’t give you all your psu cables and stuff and you do need the proper one from your psu. Again you maybe be able to pull it off but it’s a stretch.
You need a gpu cable that has two ports at the end. It’s a split. That way you have two pcie plugs on a single cable. Most power supplies come with that. They gave you a cheaper psu. If your cpu is modular, buy a replacement pcie cable that splits into two plugs at the end. Try to use a quality cable, preferably one the same brand as your psu to prevent future issues.
hi i have same power supply so my video card has two 8 pin insertions but that would require me using two VGA cables, each connecting to a different spot on the power supply. Do I only use the one cable or am I meant to fill the entire bit out
The proper way to do it is to use two separate cables from the psu to plug into your dual 8-pin gpu. I’ve seen many people (and companies) use one cable and that’s it but that is technically incorrect. Plus I wouldn’t want to risk it.
What dot you mean by better exhaust in your case
Bro what if the pc case has a longer space for it in the case😢
I was told to get this for my pc by a pro but I don't have the 24 pin mother board power socket, only 8.
Help Idk how to connect a power supply it dosent have the sides to connect PLS HELP Model is Antlantik PS501A
does the wires come with the power supply
i've had filters under my computer for years, also with my new case it has filter under, but i've allways mounted the PSU with the fan facing up, i've actually never faced the fan down since all the writing on the psu seem upside down if i do, so it is actually better to mount it with the fans facing down grasping air from underneath?
Actually scratch that.. I've turned my PSU the right way, now :P and i did the same with my older pc, and then when i did, on the TX750W i saw that... well the letters werent upside down, they are on my Rog PSU, but makes sense when i bend over for the PSU powerbutton, and makes sense for the filter under, and i mean... the TX750W was actually upside down with the writing already until i turned it fan down =P
And now i understand that the PSU and the GPU dont have to fight about the already kinda bad air that GPU's get to take from :P oh tho the airflow on my build is pretty neat with exhaust in front with radiator 140mm fans, and 2x 120mm for inntake, one in the back upper and one at the top mount.
Wait and u need to connect the motherboard first then plug in the wires???
شكراً لك المقطع كان مفيداً👍
why do you put your PSU UP? isit not better downward?
What about molex? Where is that? Xx
I am replacing my power supply I have a filter on the bottom of the case, I want my ps to pull through the bottom and exhaust out the back. Why did you turn yours the other way?
I did that to see if it would work well and to show off the RGBs on the PSU fan. Unfortunately; even tho it worked great to remove some heat from the GPU, it made the PSU a bit hotter than normal so I switched it back.
@@BuildsWithV ok has PSU’s heat been reduced now after you faced your psu fan downwards?
Is tht seasonic
I have a question; I have a HP desktop MO1 and I’m going to install a EVGA - BA Series 500W but i don’t know if it will fit. If you might know, pls reply
I’m not sure TBH and I don’t wanna give you bad info but typically those pre-built PCs do have standard power supply which would then fit the EVGA
What's the name of your graphics card?
My psu fan won’t turn on when I plug it into the wall and flip the switch. I have tried two different psu models
U have to finish the motherboard plugs and that shit it won't work just in the wall
Which is better interms of performance, This or the cooler master mwe 650w bronze?
I haven’t used that cooler master but they do make solid products. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s not semi modular
how long psu cable?
Bruh I don’t have color coordinated cables I’m screwed
Would this fit in a nzxt h510 case
im building with a nzxt h510 rn
Hi, is it better if the fan is upwards or downwards for psu?
Because i ordered a pc and they build it fan upside down.
It’s better if the fan is down. It will pull fresh cool air from the bottom. Fan up is fine but then it pulls air from the case which is warmer
For the 24+ pin it doesn’t want to go inside the mb is that normal?
Yeah it’s pretty normal. You just have to make sure it all lines up perfectly and keep at it. It will eventually go in, just don’t try and go crazy force 😅
The 8 pin connect from pcu to cpu is 2x 4-pin connectors? I’m curious
That is correct
great video man thank you very much:)
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching 🙏
Bro I do my power supply upside down like yours but guess what it didn't turn on welp I guess it's not working factory fault
Yo my have the same name as Cyberpunk main pro
this video will work with a 750 watts power supply too right?
Yes
I bought a used PSU from Amazon and didn't fit any of my Computers... But my old PSU from local market fits all 3 of my PC case bruhh
the fan is supposed to be faced down
I have this power supply and sometimes my pc randomly restarts and sometimes title flicker like it wants to boot up but it won’t and then I’ll get a windows didn’t load correctly
Isayah Alexander That’s weird, I haven’t experienced this issue so I’m not entirely sure what exactly would cause it. My first question would be are you sure it’s the psu that’s causing this issue? Could be something as simple as a loss or connector to a bad ram stick. Some motherboards have red leds that show what the issue might be during boot. There would be 4 red lights somewhere with a corresponding text saying “ram, cpu, bios or something along those lines). So if the red light stays on at “ram” then your issue would be the ram. Hopefully this makes sense.

Get a 650w semi-modular bronze or better and you'll be good. Keep in mind that some really cheap PSUs can cause issues.
Looking for switch from a non modular to a semi and I can’t seem get it to work anyone have any answes
Mason Malouf the pc just doesn’t turn on at all after the switch? My first suggestion would be to check and double check all the cables (including the ones you haven’t touched).
Hey so I plugged everything in and I plugged it into my wall but nothing is moving or turning on but there is a green light on my motherboard do you know what that means?
Did you really plug in everything? Your hard drives, ssds? You also need zo plug the cables from your case into the motherboard
@@macs.imum1699 yea I just fixed it today and the plug to the power supply wasn’t fully connected
quick question for my gpu i put in the 8 pins but why is there an extra 8 on it?
spamzz there’s an extra 8 pins on what exactly? Feel free to dm me on Instagram @buildswithv
Some GPUs have two 8 pin slots side by side and you'd plug in both for that if needed. My rtx 2080 GPU requires both 8 pin connections for example.
Mention your case name in the video descrpiton too.
Its cooler master NR 600 btw.
It’s the thermaltake lvl 20MT case. Can be found on amazon or micro center. amzn.to/31XyCJ1
@@BuildsWithV ah okey. Inner look similar to cooler master nr 600
@@BuildsWithV hey buddy the case is the airflow good? and is it okay for a first time builder?
How do you take off the back?
Goldfish Ranch every pc case will be different, usually it’s just 2 screws on the back and it slides off. Which case do you have?
Yo V, what wattage should I consider? Is more the better?
Theres no right answer because each build might need more or less. I find the perfect sweet spot is 650w-750w PSUs. I currently use a 750w but will be upgrading to 850w when I install my 3080.
@@BuildsWithV in buying the 3080 as soon as it becomes available. I'm currently building a new PC so I was just wondering. First time lol thanks for the reply bro
Do you have to have everything plugged in before power supply will work. I just got a new power supply plugged into wall and nothing
I’ve never tried to plug in a psu without anything plugged into it so I’m not 100% sure. My theory is It will need to be plugged into the motherboard at least. When you have a power supply installed in a PC the power button on the pc tells the PSU to also turn on/wake up.
Normally PSU just connected to wall won't turn on because there are 2 pins in the 24 pin connector that you have to short manually for PSU to work without motherboard
I am a young builder so I don’t really understand anything but where do you plug in those 2 cables you plugged into the power supply
Sata connection is usually for hard drives, ssd or sometimes it plugs into fans hubs. The other one pci-e is for the graphics card
Oh thanks
I get
It thankyou so much
ruclips.net/video/7bliFw1Z9wM/видео.html
So my power supply seems to be working. The only thing is is that nothing else is lighting up. Not the ram the cooler nothing. How should I fix this?
Is this a new build? If it is just make sure that the power button is plugged into the motherboard correctly first.
@@BuildsWithV ok
I have two 8 pins does it matter
It's a 8 2 split and a 8 6 and2 split
So my gpu recommend connecting two separate connection from psu to gpu. Does that mean i cant use this psu?
Correct, you won’t be able to use this psu. You will need one with 2 or more gpu connectors
do all the cables come with the power supply?
Yes they do
💪 I messed this up I used the wrong screws and it caused my MB to short. Took me 5 hrs to figure out 😵😵😵😵😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Ouch that sucks. Glad you figured it out tho. Were the screws too long? Maybe touching something on the inside of the PSU?
ruclips.net/video/7bliFw1Z9wM/видео.html
This was no help ive still got 50 wires sitting there
my cpu cord doesn’t reach the whole on my motherboard
You can get an extension cable.
He might get new one
I bought the same PSU from microcenter but I'm 90% mine didnt come with a cpu cable did yours???
Yes mine did. The cpu cable is the one that’s already attached to the psu next to the 24-pin.
@@BuildsWithV Lol thank u I was wondering what that was
Also my vga light is red and idk whats causing it also all the parts are brand new.
has PSU’s heat been reduced now after you faced your psu fan downwards?
Yeah it got better since the air it was I taking was cooler air. It wasn’t a huge difference and to be honest I don’t even remember the temp difference but it was better in general. Many prebuilt PCs have the PSU pulling air from inside the case so either way I assume it’s fine. But I prefer the cooler air outside of the case.
@@BuildsWithV thanks 🙏🏻
There is no cable in this power supply labeled cpu so i’m confused which cable i plug into the motherboard except for the 24 pin
Pasha Hort so your PSU should have an 8-pin connector that fits into the 8 pin on the motherboard (usually top left corner of the motherboard). GPU uses a similar 8-pin connector but it won’t fit.
Builds With V do you know if the cable for the motherboard will say pci-e or no
Pasha Hort it will not, pci-e is for the GPU.
ruclips.net/video/7bliFw1Z9wM/видео.html
The fan goes down bruh
Is it normal for a wraith prism cooler to have a little bit of wiggle to it? I just got a r9 3900x and when I was cleaning my pc I realized It had a bit of wiggle to it. I just want to make sure It isn’t harming the cpu.
Visored the whole cooler is wiggling? Or just the fan? If the whole cooler is, then something is wrong. The cooler should be tight onto the cpu otherwise you’ll have high temps. If the fan is wiggling then the fan itself could be going bad. There’s a lever on the side of the cooler that is used to secure it. Push the lever down till it’s tight if it’s not down.
Builds With V I just realized that the lever was not all the way down. You dont think that hurt the cpu or anything though right? I have never gotten over 70c so far
Builds With V and when I grabbed the left and right side and then moved it the whole cooler wasn’t neccicerily loose but it was moving side to side a bit
Visored it should be alright. It’s normal to move a bit. But yeah that lever just needs to be down to sit tightly onto the cpu. 70°c isn’t bad at all so it will be okay.
Builds With V thanks man, Ive been worried sick. Subbed and liked!
so the power button on the case, does the power button work from the 24pin connector being into the motherboard?
You’d also need the power button on the case plugged into the motherboard as well. You’d plug it into the “F_Panel” header
@@BuildsWithV ok so when i upgrade mt psu i wouldent need to worry about that then since its only the psu im upgrading?
@@funnyjackkk that’s correct.
@@BuildsWithV bro u don’t understand how happy I am now,I was so scared I needed a new case to plug the power button into it or something, wow your a life saver man thank you so much
@@funnyjackkk no problem at all 😊 Thanks for watching 🙏
Pc won’t turn on 😭
I’m confused cause doesn’t that fan suck in air? So it will just be sucking in the hot air from the PC not the cool fresh air from outside
That is correct. I do not recommend doing it like this. I switched back to normal after a few week because the PSU got too hot.
Ah ok
But then what did you do? Do you just flip it around so the fan faces the bottom of the case?
@@shadowstalker7259 I did it to test it like that but unfortunately it just gets too hot so yes I flipped it back to normal.
Nice
Thank you 🙏
