    very helpful, im just about to do mine and am a novice but ok at general diy, one thing, maybe an idea to photograph before i take cables out to reference what goes where, learnt this from doing brakes or engine changes on cars n trucks, always a good re cap i think. great video thanks!

    Do we need to drain the residual charge or just remove old cables, install new psu and plug new cables and turn on?

    Hey bud nice video . To cut a long story short iv got to swap a modular crosair cv550 to a CORSAIR TX850M Semi-Modular ATX PSU - 850 W which is a semi modular. . I think il be ok but if you have any videos that would be great.
    This is to comfortably run a 3070

    Hi, I'm swapping my Corsair TX750m for a HX850i, is it best to swap all the cables over as well, or ok to mix cables?

    Question do I need a higher wattage power supply. I have a 750 gold in it now but I'm running a 3080 and a Ryzen 9 5900x and I've been reading something's online that have me nervous now.

      This is fine but u should upgrade for like 900 watt so u can use rgb and other stuff still if u can't that's absolutely perfect

    This may sound like a dumb question but, the rtx3070 requires 12 pins. so does any power supply you buy come with 12 pin wire

      Nvidia include an adapter for it. Only the Founders Edition has the 12 pin connector. Other models from EVGA, Asus, MSI etc. have standard PCIe connectors.

    By any chance did an 8 pin connector come with your 450? As I need one for my 360 and I have to same power supply

      It did, I believe it had two 8 pin connectors. However, the old VS PSUs from Corsair aren't brilliant and I'd recommend upgrading it as soon as you can.

      Well I’ve just ordered a 650w psu from evga I believe it’s 80plus gold rated. I did some research I think it’s good for my 3060 it was 60 pounds on sale from 70 is this a good psu? Thanks for the reply

    i have a modular psu 550w and wanna upgrade to a 750w modular psu i dont need to take off all the cabels on my motherboard and graphics card i just plug in all the cabels to the new psu right?

      Never do that. Different PSUs will have different pin outs. It’s always best to use the cables which come with your power supply

    My pc keeps shutting down and restarting every now and then. I have a 650w 80 plus white psu. Running i7 7700 and gtx 1080. U think it could be a faulty psu i need to replace?

      Potentially, that does sound like a PSU issue. But it could be down to something else, Try to RMA the PSU if you can and replace it and then see if the issue is still persisting.

    should i use the new wires in the box witn the psu or can i use the old wires from the old psu?

      Definitely use the new wires. Different PSUS have different pin layouts. Using the old wires with the new PSU can cause serious damage and potentially kill your hardware.

      The minimum recommended is 450W. I'd recommend going for at least 500W just for the overhead.

      A 750W PSU is plenty for a 2060. The 2060 is still very good with playing games at 1080p and even 1440p👍

      Nope, a 650w will. Unless if I made a mistake and missed it in the edit. I recommend at least a 650w PSU for a 1080 Ti

      Front panel connectors connect into the motherboard. This varies by motherboard and the exact layout can be found in the instructions for your motherboard model.

      The main parts which draw the most power are the CPU and GPU. As long as you have some overhead, you will be fine.

      650W. I would get a 750W or 850W psu so you don’t have to worry about upgrading to a new power supply for a long time.

      The 24 pin motherboard cable is quite hard to get out. Try pressing the little tab and then pull it.

      You would be able to get away with a decent 450W unit depending on your other components. However, I'd recommend a 500W to be on the safe side.

      @@gagefischer2648 buy a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter or, even better, upgrade to a better PSU. 1660S requires AFAIK an 8-pin connector.
