Coat d'Arms Barbarian Leather is Citadel Snakebite Leather that's still being produced. I don't mean it's the same color - it is literally the same paint. When GW dropped their contract with HMG, HMG carried on producing the paint line under the name Coat d'Arms. Pretty much the whole range is still available as well as some additions.
I haven't painted for >20 years - and have just started again. One of the few pots of Citadel that survived hibernation was a full pot of Snakebite Leather!!
hush little baby.. good little baby... please go to sleep... PLEASE.. Im quite a bit older than most of you folks I think, Ive been painting minis for about 30 years. I love seeing how these new techniques are evolving - wet pallets, non metallic metals, painting light sources and glows its all really very interesting and im going to have to dig out my paints again just as soon as I can find the time. ;) I actually painted for GW (about 20 years ago) - store display models and some of my stuff went into the magazines/books. Its truly interesting to me to see the evolution of techniques, I look back at some of my better models and think how much better the good painters of today are doing with all these new techniques and innovation! So from an old dog to you young pups: GOOD SHOW!

I’ve probably watched this 20x but I’m trucking away on my crappy nmm dominion stormcasts, thanks so much Emil for giving me the confidence to just go for it!
I love all the tutorial type videos you have! Fairly new to this hobby and I have learned so much to really improve the painting....with practice :) and also like hearing and seeing your family...keeps it real and gives hope to Mom's like me that it can be done even with life happening :)
I never had the patience to do NMM or even practice it after I found the Liquid silver / gold paints from Vallejo But I still watch every NMM tutorial I come across 😂😅
Hi Mr. Squidmar - if you are looking for the old citadel paints, don't invest to much time into mixing colours for "close to" results. The company "coat d'arms" still produces exactly the old citadel paints. I'm buying the crappy old flesh wash over there cause I want to match some minis with my old models... Hope this helps. Greets from Berlin Love your channel - it's a huge inspiration - for example the painting competion - we copied it and had so much fun!

One thing that seems very important when painting NMM is dramatic transitions between shadow and light. I can't seem to get it right and no one really adress it in tutorials. It feels more natural to make smooth transitions, but it seems that is not always the way to go when making NMM. Anyway, awesome video as usual!
This will be a great resource for me on a miniature I am currently working on. I decided I wasn't going to use any metallics on it and the only NNM I really have any experience with is on power weapons. So the armor has been kinda tough.
He Emil. Fantastic art work and next-level miniature-painting-skills ... And very well explained. I love your channel and the stuff you are doin. I hope that I can paint one day as good as you can (hopefully). Big up and nicegreetings to Sweden.
Emil, the first few minutes of the video and bubba in the background, I can relate. Made laugh as this is the exact situation I have right now haha Thank you for these incredible videos, keep it up!
Spending this weekend cleaning out my parents attic. Just found an un opened bottle of citadel snake bite leather from an old 40k starter paint set. It is from the time when they had the black screw lids that was impossible to open. Probably about 20 years old... also found som plastic spacemarines still in there spruces stamped 1993!
Hi amil I'm going to go through this video with you and see my results Vallejo do a heavy brown extra opaque a sepia ink and heavy gold brown extra opaque for doing gold nmm. Just thought I would mention it incase you didn't know and wanted to try them yourself.
Always impressed when I see your nmm results. Nmm is one thing I always want to try if I see someone doing it, but it’s also a thing as a beginner I’m a little afraid of 😂
Almost sounded like "ddddaaaaadddddyyyy" in background. Ah the joys of a work at home dad 😏 before long the kiddo will be finger painting epic 40k and dnd scenes for you......aaaallll....ooovvveerrrr.... your wall....haha. good work my friend, amazing results. Glad you shared.
Coat D'Arms were the company that originally made the paints for Games Workshop they still sell paints with similar names. I think Barbarian Leather might be a renamed Snakebite Leather.
I have old snakebite and have been trying to get NMM gold down for a while. I have very limited selection of paints. Do you think Snakebite leather + Bleached bone would work for highlights? And for shading, scorched brown? (old gw paint names, dont know the new ones lol)
Just a slightly theoretical question: I understand the importance of black lines for distinguishing different parts, but wouldn't a gold object right next to another gold object have a fairly medium value and somewhat saturated boarder between them, as they reflect each other's reflected light?
Hi, can i make this with Carmine Red, Saddle Brown, Goldbrown and Flat Yellow? (all Vallejo colours it's my 1st and only palette)? Love your videos btw!
I as a brand new painter am going over my head and wish to try a bronze version of NMM. I have not once painted a model before….what am I about to get into.

Hey, sorry if this question sounds like i'm a noob on this (well i actually am), in case you want to do green reflections (like, idk, some spectral light or magic or something), it will be correct to do the "glaze part" in green or would be better to start the nmm with some kind of green pigmentation? Thanks in advance
@@SquidmarMiniatures Like they are not under the sun, more like they are on a chamber of a mage or something similar, and the ilumination of the chamber is made with some kind of magic (green magic, always hahahaha)

Amazing as always Emil but oh man. More paints I haven't bought yet. I might just try it with a few of the browns and Evil Sunz Yellow I still have for now. Otherwise I'm buying $50 worth of paints every week. I also bought a Raphael brush but I'm too afraid to use it! Haha! It's a thing of beauty though.
