FINALLY - Someone made a NMM metal video that makes sense - Thank you Juan 1000% 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Happy to help!
Love to see how you are evolving and branching out into other paint techniques. This was a fantastic NMM video!!!
Thanks mate
Something about how you describe what you are doing and how you display the steps makes this so easy to understand and follow. Top tier teaching right here!
Thanks!!! I really appreciate it
This was a great video. It was just detailed enough to understand and not too simple nor too complex for an intermediate painter.
Thanks
This is the skill I want to take to the next level and this primer really helped! Brilliant work! ❤
Thanks!
This is nearly hypnotic, watching a master paint a masterpiece!
Thanks
apart from being a very nice human being. you are my painting god.keep up the good work thanks.
Thanks mate 😘
WOW, another masterclass - thank you
Thanks
Inspiring me to try NMM for the first time on my warlord. Thank you!

That was a fracking amazing tutorial Juan!
So well presented, it makes me think that I can try this, after 40 years painting TMM.
You can
Awesome job as always dude 👍🏻
Looking forward to giving this a go 😅
Thanks
This has been an eye opener for me. I've been intimidated by NMM, this makes it seem within reach. Thank you.
Happy to help
Great tutorial and explanation! The result of the NMM looks awesome. Will try this methode on one of my next models
Thanks mate
Wow…amazing tutorial and one that I’m sure I will be able to follow and improve my NMM skills thanks Juan!!
Happy to help
I've watched a few vids on NMM and this is the first time I've felt like I should give it a go after. I actually understood it, so I think you did a good job.
Thanks, much appreciated
Top stuff as always.
Thanks
Great Job!
Thanks
So smooth! Your voice that is ;)
Excellent tutorial as always

I have used alot of this guys methods and Man sooo detailed and easy to understand and follow. not rushing, or missing steps!! thank you sir! keep em coming! :)
Happy to help!
Wow, so good, u make me feel like I could do that 😂😂😂
YOU CAN
That's really amazing 🔥
Thanks
Man thats crazy how good that looks for how simpple the recipe is. Definitely going to have to try that out
I'm very proud of the recipe, it just works SO WELL
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I'll be sure to tag you when I try it and completely mess it up 😂
Impressive job. Seems so easy. I shall try that technic on my Kharn Ages figurines. Thx.
Happy to help
I'm excited to try this out. I'm too impatient to do incredibly smooth blends layering but this looks like pretty efficient time usage.
It's as efficient and fast as it gets
Thank you
Thank you for watching
Great tips, thanks a lot :)
Happy to help!
amazing
Estupendo video como siempre Juan. 👏👏👏♥️😊
Gracias guapo 😘
As I said when I saw this thumbnail on Facebook, it's about the best looking NMM I've ever seen ❤ I've starting dabbling into NMM myself and I don't try to make perfect blends. That is mostly because I'm painting an army of golden Seraphon and my life is to short to sink more than 15 hours into each tiny lizard boy 😊
Thanks!
Nice! Thank you very much. Your explanations are so helpful, I’m really looking forward to try this technique on my next mini 😊. Best wishes from Bavaria, Germany
Thanks!!
Ha llegado el video perfecto de NMM para que mi cerebro de alcornoque pueda entenderlo de la manera mas fácil posible.
Eres un grande Juan
Gracias guapo 😘
awesome this will help me a lot with my Thanos!
Happy to help
Brilliant hint regarding taking the photo and enhancing the highlights in photoshop, to see where your highlights / shadows should be ... I have no idea why I never thought about that before :)
Happy to help
this is the best video
I agree
Last month I spent 4 days trying to get a NMM gold effect on Eternus from AOS. I finally gave in and went to TMM metals in a recipe I'm confident in. I think with this I'll be trying NMM for my contest entry this month.
Awesome
Great video! I hope to someday be half the painter you are.
You will be for sure
gracias, un buen tutorial
Gracias a tí!
Really loved this video and how straight forward the technique was laid out. Will you be doing another for silver NMM?
Yes, that will be the next one
Thanks - super.
Thanks for watching!
Perfect timing, I actually have some Sanguinary Guard I need to do.
AWESOME
I enjoyed this for sure. I'll definitely use the idea of taking a picture of the primed figure to identify the highlights. I appreciate that this is done in a more cartoon sorta way, no really need to actually blend all of the transitions... however, I really felt like I wanted to see them blended, and so I was happy to see that there was some blending at 14:06 :) Thanks again.
Happy to help
First and Excellent!
😘
You control your big brush so well ! 😂
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!
OMG I literally just searched you out to see if you havmd a nmm gold for doing the Blacktalons. and you posted it today
🙏 the ☀
I have a different technique on an old video but I think this one is better
Scale75 have a very similar orange called orange leather.
Love your sweet NMM, nice one mate !
Thanks
Como siempre tus vídeos impresionantes
Gracias guapo 😘
This and your black nmm are a real help and will refer to both when trying NMM myself.
If you do more NMM guides, could I ask it be on models that are a little more tricky - they either have more irregular shapes or they don't have a large surface area to paint on (e.g. Necrons, Eldar, Imperial Guard etc).
Thanks again, a major help.
Next one will be steel/silver and will be a Necron.
Thanks!
Looks super cool, nice one
Still scared to try this after 30 years in the hobby, sad
You never know what you can do until you go and do it
Perfect! ^^
Thanks
Thank you so much for this video. Would you suggest to also take a photo of the back and follow the same reflections?
Me mola mucho lo orgánico que queda el nmm como lo has hecho y sencillito, sí señor 👏👏
Gracias guapo 😙
Definitely going to try this but using my old pot of Snakebite Leather - looks close to Scrofulous Brown I think…
Mmmmm interesting, maybe a bit less orange than Scrofulous but could be a good match
Gigachad NMM!
Gracias 😘

MASTER OF PUPPETS
I'M PULLING YOUR STRINGS!
This is great!!! I think I’m going to try this on my high marshal helbrecht. Any suggestions with his armor panels and where reflections should go? I think that’s the hardest part for me with nmm.
I can't really tell you, it depends on where you decide your main source of light will be but I suggest you look for other examples of him painted in NMM and copy them
For a Scrofulous Brown substitute check Green Stuff World's Tiger Brown :)
I refuse to buy anything related to GSW but I appreciate it. Not everyone has to think the same way obviously
Only decent swap I've seen for scrofulus brown (decent meaning a CIE94 delta E value between the colors under 3, which means indistinguishable for most people)
Two Thin Coats: Manticore Ochre - 2.89 delta
That's absolutely incredible. Now I want to get a hold of that paint to test it out!!
11:30 I agree with this. Another word for smoothness is blurring, and how interesting is blurring by itself?
EXACTLY
I love you
I love you too 😘
Juan stealing NMM from the paint gods and giving it to us mere mortals
I'm a modern day Prometheus
It could be worth considering a zinc white for its natural transparency.
Could be but you don't need it and it could be hard to get for most people so I try to avoid those kinds of paints
try scale 75 fantasy game paint peanut butter as a substitute for scrupulous brown
Good shout out!! I will get a bottle of that
Ak interactive-c2 trainer yellow and army painter bullwhack brown (air) might be good substitutes for scrofulous brown
Will take a look at those
What about volcanic yellow from ak? Anyway is a very good video, I'm going to try this technique @@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
Hello juan
😘
Amazing. Do you think you could make video about silver/steel? And mby also some basic colors also?
I already have a videos for all the colours in my "Non-Easy" NMM videos. The easy steel is coming next so stay tuned
ooh neat, can you tell us which colors to so iron/steel nmm this way too?
It's coming soon
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures i normally use AK but i think i'll look for the equivalent by googling
How do you maintain the tip intact like that I need those skills!
Light touches
Awesome vid mate, would this work using Metallica, just got some necrons and was thinking of trying TMM, also what colour would you start with, just silver metal.
You can always use the techniques for NMM with metallic paints and the results are the best metallics you will ever paint.
I have a video about it, it's the one with Dante in the thumbnail
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures to cheers mate, iv tried glazing for a certain theme iv got in mind, but I'm really struggling to get consistent results 😕
Great video. When you use a reference picture like that, what do you do for the rear side of the model? Would you turn the model around under the light, or take pictures from the other side without moving anything? Is it important to have a consistent light direction on all sides of the model?
I do exactly the same process but on the back from the direct opposite angle
ez gold
😘
Can I use Skrag Brown or Deathclaw Brown as a substitute for Scrofulous Brown? There's also Gold Yellow and Sun Yellow from the new Game Colors. My not so local hobby shop only have the new Game Color version of it and it looks like Mahogany from Pro Acryl.
Can i use Vallejo 70.846 Mahogany Brown instead Pro Acryl?
No idea, I don't have that paint. The name would suggest that it would be a good substitute but I can't tell you
What size brush are you using in this video? I always struggle with the right sized brush
Windsor and Newton series 7, size 3
Juan, my legs are cold. 😔 🥶
I suggest a blanket
So help me, every time I try to paint NMM gold it looks like ivory at best or like messy yellow at worst and it makes me crazy. This video makes it look a lot easier than some recipes I've seen and since I just botched yet another attempt at NMM gold? I'll toss it into the sonic cleaner and star over again with this video as a guide. Thank you, sir!
I hope this works better for you. The key is CONTRAST, you need to move from the darkest colour to white while preserving the midtones too in very small spaces. It can be tricky
Is it the new Scrofulous brown or the old one? Or are they the same?
New one, they are most definitely not the same.
@@JuanHidalgoMiniaturesawesome thanks!
Buenas, me gusta mucho el resultado!
He visto la marca del pincel que usas, ¿pero que número es?
Está superafilado!
Feliz Año!
Hi Juan, may I ask you two questions: do you use some kind of a glaze medium or lahmian medium from citadel for the different layers or just water thinned paints? What is the ratio of water and scrofulous brown for the first layer? It looks so damn smooth when you paint and you have total control of the thinned paint…and when I try to use thinned paints, either I have too much tinned paint inside the brush and when I stopped painting a drop of thinned paint runs down to the area causing a coffee stain or too less 😉. Thank you 😊
Just water, no medium.
I don't know the ratio, it's done by feel and don't trust anyone telling you about ratios when thinning paint, each paint is different and will need different amounts of water. There can even be differences between batches. By the sounds of it you have WAY too much paint loaded in the brush, make sure you have less or unload a bit into a paper towel before painting
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I will try, thank you!
@Brotunheim1 happy to help!
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Sorry to bother you, one last question: what miniature ist this? It looks like a Stormcast Eternal but I cannot find it anywhere. 🙂
@Brotunheim1 it's a Stormcast from a magazine, I can't remember the name sorry.
Big fan of your videos. Calm and educational - but easy to understand for beginners/intermediate level painters. I've always avoided NMM because blending isn't my strongest skill, and I don't find blending fun to practice either. I really like texture painting, especially for things like fur & even skin. After trying traditional NMM and failing for several hours this week, I'm going to try this style on my next mini. Keep it up, we love the content.
Thanks mate 😘
