    Thank you!! I found your tutorial by searching black w/colour paper - and after watching it, I have achieved 1, almost 2, attempts. In delighted with the first, and pleased with how the 2nd is shaping up! I'm very grateful for you taking the time to share your knowledge. 🖌🎨

    This is amazing thinking in watercolor, but it's basically like painting in other mediums. Still super crazy lol. This is beautiful. Have a great day

    Thank you David for this demo. I bought a pad of this paper probably not long after it came out, but didn't give it a try until last year. I experimented a little with transparent watercolor, but didn't like what I saw, so I decided to try diluted gouache. I had some good results - and by coincidence - I used photo references from the same photographer you chose for this demo (found on Unsplash). I did three different ballerina paintings. Great fun. Now that you've showed me the technique of using watercolor with a little titanium white, I will give it a try.

      @@BeckerArt I just set up my drawing table, and bought pencil and brushes. I've decided this time around to see what techniques the professional artist use. My natural talents kinda hit a ceiling, I'm not known for being social, and my solidarity has limited my potential. I actually learned new concepts watching your video, so I'm very grateful thank you.

    Hi, David! I love getting to watch you demo in this video. When our booth was next to yours at NAMTA (Texas), I could never get the time to watch you. And thank you for clarifying - I kept asking the sales person how it was showing up. Of course you have to use white, metallic, Interference or more opaque colors. The salesperson had me confused as if it was some sort of magic otherwise LOL. Love this and definitely going to explore it some more now that I have the time. You are such a talented artist and educator. Thank you for sharing your talents.

    This is so beautiful, and gives me hope that I can do something with the black watercolor paper I bought. I do have a question. What black watercolor do you use? Thank you so much.

    • @BeckerArt
      @BeckerArt  Год назад

      I use Holbein Peach Black watercolor paint as my black.

    Are you using any metallics?

    Can I do a wet into wet method? The paper seemed to ripple quite a bit.

      When this video was shot they didn't make 300lb Stonehenge Black, but now they do so I totally recommend the 300lb instead of the 140lb. the 300lb doesn't ripple. You can also do like other artists that use 140lb paper they wet the back of the paper and slap it down on a smooth surface and it will stay flat.

    Which white are you using? Titanium, Chinese?

    Wonderful! What did you use to draw the image please?

    • @BeckerArt
      @BeckerArt  2 года назад +2

      You can use a white watercolor pencil or a General white Charcoal pencil or if you are looking to use transfer paper you can use a white transfer paper amzn.to/3DpOHb2 and trace the image onto the black paper. Sometimes I even use a #2 lead pencil. On this particular exercise, I used a white charcoal pencil.
