I used to have a children's channel and RUclips put restrictions on ads for children related videos, so ads appear less on such videos. I had to change my channel. I enjoy making my new content more anyway.
I'm seeing over $8.50 RPM on Minecraft Let's Play in 2024. "And they said it couldn't be done." You can earn good money in plenty of niches - do what you love and do it with a plan.
Rpm is simply determined by your gendered audience and age. And how long your videos are the longer the video the better and this is also super important the geography of said audience

Insightful. Putting monetization first will only lead to disappointment. It is always safer to use RUclips as a stepping stone whilst having a bigger picture in mind.
Actually the point of monetization is not just "monetization" for the sake of it. Getting monetized on RUclips means you've hit the threshold of having an actual audience that you can promote stuff to that can then lead to sales or donations. Without it, that means you don't have the audience, which means no $.

Your maturity and wisdom was evidenced with the comment "their house, their rules". I find it rich when my Uber driver complains about their cut. Ok, do it on your own without them. Right, you can't. It's the same mentality that makes any tradesman think they can start their own side hustles and not just settle for what their company pays them. They quickly learn it is not that easy. It's a lot more than just doing the work to make a successful company
The final bit should be a RUclips short because more people need to know that a RUclips channel and creator need to make money outside of the RUclips Adsense Program if they intend to go full-time. Great video! :)

I guess we just have to focus on things which are under our control like creating the best videos and worry less about the thinngs which are outside of our control like how many views our videos gets. RUclips makes sure to boost up the channels that aren't monetized, but once channel gets monetized then youtube starts destroying it, either under 500 or around 2k views RUclips flatlines views, never to rise ever again, even with above 95% like/dislike ratio and 80%+ audience retention it WILL STILL GO DOWN, also RPM goes below 0.4$ if it was 0.9-1.2$. All that from my own personal experience and also by judging my friend's channels as well, same results. Only luck works on youtube, just pray for youtube to blow your channel up if they want to.
I agree 100%. Latest RUclips strategy is to give beginner channels one complementary blow up video which, if you do not make the requirements within a year, destroys your channel. When you lose so many watch hours in such a short period of time, for me it was 2500 watch hours, the algorhythm sees your channel as a tanking channel and stop recommending your videos to a wider audience. It makes that daily fight to out do your performance on each day, a year ago, double so hard. To start RUclips now is a crazy game unless, like the commentator said, RUclips decides for no apparent reason to blow your channel up.
@@divatalk9011 it makes sense. RUclips is a game and the algorhythm is set (I believe,). In that time that people struggle to get monetize RUclips takes 100% of the add revenue. Why if you have made 4000 watch hours must it be taken back if you did not make 1000 subscribers in a year? To fight with your own performance a year ago on a daily basis is impossible. I need my token exploding video now not when the algorhythm dished it out to me. At this rate it is going to take me another 2 years before I am monetized.
Among my 4 faceless yt channels, 2 of them are monetized after 10 months but one of my non monetized channel earns more than monetized one. I think choosing right niche is the most important part to become successful on yt.

I wish I had 1000 views on a video. Hell I wish I could finally reach 500 subs so I can finally get monetized but at this rate I still won’t get my play button that I want and to get monetized because I feel like RUclips isn’t showing any of my content at all.

A small anecdotal data point to add for you, but for me in my niche - cars, in the last 90 days CPM has been £3.61. So it's not bad, but it ain't finance.
It’s sad that people like me (animators) only make on average what a gaming channel makes (not a lot), the reason it’s sad is we spend so long animating and don’t get much back from the time we spend.
