I'm really glad Red Sea makes these videos because their picture instructons are terrible. I just set the Reef Mat 1200. One of my main problems is when you say "push this button" but you don't say or show where it is! Things would go much smoother with better information. Also, the ReefBeat app works on my iPhone for setting this up but fails at the end on my Android.
I've had a reefmat 1200 going for a couple weeks probably only used about 5 feet of the role got a message saying jammed mat and it unspooled the entire roll of mat in one night any ideas on why that happens thanks in advance
Just in the process of installing my 1200. The inlet hose is too long - I am assuming it is OK to shorten it? If so, what is the best method of cutting it?
Question 1: If you take the filter socket trays and the one panel of glass holding the flow back in the redsea E-260 will take change the water level in the sump - for the return pump section as where my auto top off sensor is located? Question: 2 Can the hose provided with the reef filter 500 kink or get block causing back build of water and cause main over flow to flood the top compartment of the tank? Question:3 As the main drain is connected to the reef hose provided, what happens to the trickle from the emergency drain as that by passes the reef mat filer 500?
1.Yes, you will have to adjust the water level as a result or elevate the ATO float. 2.not likely to happen, but in case it does happen the emergency overflow will start draining the tank and prevent a flood. 3.Your system is a closed system whatever is trickling via the emergency overflow and "escapes" filtration will get filtered next time. It's negligible.
Can someone please tell me where my water level should be if I intend to hang the 1200 model on the side of my sump? The total height of the sump is 21”. I’m having a sump made and the only thing I could find says between the water inlet and up to 1” below the sensor. That doesn’t help me because I do not yet own the product. Thank you for your help!
Hi, the full product's specs are on out website, check out the total height with and without the legs, that would give you a good idea. redseafish.com/smart-hardware/reefmat/tech-specs/
It will be fine if you hang it on the side dont worry about the water level as the inlet pumps water in and as the filter mat clogs it will raise the water level in the unit itself, once it hits the sensor it will drop the water level by turning the roll automatically. Dw red sea i'll do your job.
I’ve got a 125g saltwater reef aquarium that has 2 drain lines what is the best way to run them together to the one line on the roller mat I can’t find a y fitting to use and worried about back pressure using a t fitting
Is the only reason to do it that way to save room on one side? I get a clog roll error when utilizing both ports and the roll is not clogged and I’ve tried everything to troubleshoot and didn’t know if it was volume and velocity of water coming in both ports causing the issue.
@@Redseafish is it possible to do a how-to video on this. Getting back into hobby after 8 years and really do not want to use socks again. If there is a way to connect 2 overflows into this unit, I would like to see it done properly
Hey Neil and RS team. I have the 500 witht he new 300XL G2 aquarium how do I get the filter socks compartment out? I know there removable but not sure how?
Hi, firstly I would like to say this looks like a great product. I have pre-ordered a 1200 but I do not have a Red Sea tank, sorry I am a euro brace kind guy! Anyway, I am just designing my new sump in preparation for the Reef Mat release and wondered what the optimum height for the water is. I'm guessing its just higher than the black inlet but how high does the water need to be if this unit is hanging or should I say how far below is the top of the inlet from the rim that mounts on the tank so I can set my baffles at the right height. I hope that makes sense. Thank you and I can't wait to receive this item.
As l on as your water level is under the sensor the water pressure will push down and out. You have 2 different mounting options, hang on or on feet. Most standard sumps designs will be just fine as long as you don't "drown" it in.
I am building a sump. What are the minimum dimensions to fit the smaller 500? I would like to have just the right size chamber for it. My sump will be 30" x 14". but my biggest question is is there a minimum and maximum water level for the rollers chamber?
@@Redseafish thank you I saw that after posting. But I still haven’t found any recommended water level. Does it need to sit in the water to a certain point or does it not matter

The ReefMat only works in seawater. The water level sensor is a conductivity (salinity) meter, designed to easily and reliably detect if the titanium probes are in seawater or air. This system will not detect fresh or brackish water.
Hey Guys. Can you confirm the size of the pipes for the Redsea 625xxl and also confirm the parts list for the plumbing? I have asked my LFS and they couldn't find them. Looking to build a manifold to run a chiller and carbon reactor.
@@Redseafish thanks for the link. I was asking a specific question about the Reefer 625xxl's current plumbing dimensions and parts numbers for that plumbing. Is this something you can help with as my LFS couldn't?
You mentioned you can just slip the flexible tubing that comes with the reefmat right onto the return pipe. In the video you slide it on but then no mention of securing it that way. How would I secure it using that method?
You add some of the provided sealant and sure it with a tie (not provided). Using a reusable zip tie would make it easy to take off if needed. I’m using a plastic clamp with screws, so it’s easy to remove
My ReefMat has never advanced automatically. The sensor seems to ignore the rising water level. I had received a replacement water level sensor under warrantee from Red Sea, but it did not help at all. Now Red Sea product support has gone silent. I guess they have no solution either.
