im thinking of buying one for my tank. i think when i come to changing rolls i will just staple the new roll that was cut like you did with your video, and roll it around ????????

Hey, definitely a great choice for Roller Mats. Love mine!
So do you mean add on to the new roll the old bit that's left essentially making it slightly longer? I guess you could do that. I think I said I would keep it in case a roll ever runs completely out and I haven't yet had a new one delivered.
The only problems I can foresee with stapling the old to the new would be at some point the staples will end up in the water when it's down at the bottom of the unit and will the staples easily slide through those black plastic pieces that are clipped together or get snagged, again at the bottom of the unit. Does that make sense?
What I do now is when the app tells me the roll is almost finished, I'll turn the roller mat off and unwind what's left, still attached to the roller mat across the dining table that's in front of the tank. I'll then measure the difference and work out almost exactly how long it will last based on my daily usage. (i.e Daily usage 45cm - length of remaining roll 4ft = 2.7 days). Change it accordingly based on that info when you'll be around to do so.
Or you just let it run out, and it will stop the unit, and the water will overflow out the sides.
Hope this has helped and makes sense.

When taking off old roll just turn the opposite way while pulling and it will come off very easy

How long does it take for one roll?

Hi, I find mine lasts for just over 2 months. However, I do have a messy Porcupine Puffer, so when he's moved out, I would expect it to last a bit longer.

Whats the reason the little clips need to be facing towards you?

Hi, I've just replaced my Fleece roll yesterday, and to be honest, I can't see any reason why the clips need to face you. It's just the instructions tell you to do it this way. Sorry for the late reply.

DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP!! I bought three 1200s for my 750 gallon tank. They became amphipod and pineapple sponge breeding facilities. Red Sea has ZERO support. I gave them away.

That's a shame you've had troubles. I would have had them off you!! 😀
When my Red Sea 425xl seal started splitting, I found their customer service to be very good. I must admit my Reefmat does have some sponges on it, but it comes out every 6 months for a complete strip down and clean. Otherwise, I just clean the parts that need cleaning during the fleece roll replacement.
I would definitely buy another if required as it's so easy to take apart, clean, and replace the roll.
