- Reef Mat is working GREAT and pulling out a lot of debris that is coming in from the DT. Simple set up and easy to maintain! My M2 Vectra on the other hand is a different story! And I cleaned it quite regularly ...
Looks Great!
Thank you!
What's up buddy? You've been running the reef mat for a while now! What's your overall thoughts? I'm thinking about getting one..
Hey Mike! I really like it. Other than I had to replace the motor a month ago (which I think is wear and tear) it has been flawless. I have seen comments from people that have had bad motors a lot sooner though. Not sure why or why mine lasted so much longer. I think the motor was $30 CAD to replace but I'm ok with that,
Keeps the sump really clean and you don't get all the ditritus build up. I'm glad I got it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
@@My525XLRedSeaReefer I appreciate the feedback! I may just have to get one. Do you think I should just get the 500 or go big with the 1200? My tank is like 130 total gallons..
@@MikeLemming Hey Mike, my total water volume is 139 including the sump. ReefMat 500 is suitable for tanks up to 130 gallons and the ReefMat 1200 is suitable for tanks up to 310 gallons. I had the room in the sump so I went for the 1200. Your volume is right on the cusp for the 500.. I always take the extra step if I can. I would personally go with the 1200. :)
@@My525XLRedSeaReefer that’s what I was thinking. I’m not sure if I have the room in my sump though. Based on what I’ve seen online, the overall width of the unit from the right edge to the bend in the connection hose is 17 inches. Is it really that wide?
@@MikeLemming just measured mine and from one side to the other I'm using 15.5 inches of space, include the hose connected as well.
Hi . I was wondering why didn’t you go for the RM 500 instead since you have the 525xl ? I’m looking to get one for my 625 but I don’t know which one between the 1200 and the 500 ! What made you choose the bigger one ?
Excuse my english I am in France !
And thank you for your video 👍
Hi there. Thank you for watching! I went with the 1200 due to bio-load factors.. In case i increase the amount of livestock i thought it would come in handy.
Ohh ok. I plan to feed 2 times a day. Also I was looking at it for a 90 gallon, so I’m hoping 3months or more out of it. Thanks
yes you will likely get 3 months. The first role will go faster than the rest as it will be catching all the initial stuff in the tank. it will level off after that.
So your changing out your roll every 7 weeks going by the numbers on your phone? Do you feed a lot? That seems like it is going through it fast for a 120 gallon tank with the small stock you have. From what I read in the description from the company was that it was going to last 3 months a roll for around your size tank. Thanks sir.
Hi there, that was the initial role. I seem to get about 2 months or just a bit more. I do feed 2-3 times a day. Personally I think 3 months would be a stretch but you never know.
The tank looks great man! What are you dosing in there? I see a few dosing lines..
Thank you!! I'm still doing All For Reef and Potassium. I was dosing Magnesium but stopped a while ago.
What is the water level recommended?
I'm using the hang off back bracket on the Reefmat. My water level in the sump is 11 inches.
Still doing good with all for reef?
Yers sir! 25 ml's a day.. It seems to really agree with my tank so I will keep on it.
@@My525XLRedSeaReefer can you do a update soon? Id love to see your growth and feedback on it.
@@jacbuc1 Sure thing!
I didn’t like my reefmat, wouldn’t fit any roller system again, they strip too much out the water, dino and cyano heaven having one of these, my acropora are beautiful again now and aquarium finally has some nutrients now
I have the 1200, but I’m not using a skimmer. Were you using both?
I think your point is valid. there are a lot of variances for using this equipment; current nutrient and bio load. this can be vastly different from one system to another.
@@downeyscove1381 no I used a skimmer a few times I prefer a refugium on reverse light cycle and tune in lighting and how many hours of light :)
I would diasagree. It’s so unbearably loud I removed it
Really? I have my doors closed on the cabinet and mine is tolerable. Red Sea could to some R&D to improve the motor and make it quieter.
@@My525XLRedSeaReefer yea for the price especially I would expect more. The loud motor was a deal breaker especially since it goes off so often
@@Mike-zp2dt I totally agree... was going to look at some DIY solutions for myself. I really like the unit though.. makes a huge difference in my sump.
