How I Completed The Red Sea Reefer Tank transfer? pt 2
Thx NOW i understand how it works. 😊
Awesome. I'm glad my video helped you 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
If you would like a longer version of this video, just let me know in the comments. Thank you 😊
I can see your pain. Sometimes these things are just dormant you cannot protect against .....best I can say is its now a learning curve to protect future fish.
Hi, I have the 5080, and iv not used the remote in a few years. I have charged it, and I can change this, but the light doesn't respond. Can you help, please
Hi Paul, I'm not sure why the light won't respond to the remote. I know there is a replacement remote control for the it5012 v2, but again, I am unsure whether there's a remote replacement for your light.
Watching this thinking he looks familiar, then it clicked i sold you the reef octopus the other day lol.👍
Hey Martin, haha yes you did 😀 Starting to get some equipment ready for Pineys tank in the brand new fish house. Thanks for the support on here 😀
Nice! Thank you
You're welcome 😀
Hi, this is a very informative video for newbies like me !! Don’t suppose you could share a copy the figures you finished up using could you please ? Iam a bit lost !!! Thanks
Hi Paul, thanks for your kind words 😀 Appreciate it a lot. If you can let me know your email address, I'll send it over to you. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Thank you, so much clearer than any other video I saw elsewhere!
Hi Amy, that's lovely to hear. Thank you so much ❤️ I'm glad my video has helped you. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Thanks for this video. That will be me who you promised to do the test for. 😂Not that I really understand par but it didn’t seem to make a huge difference with or without the poly sheet. Wouldn’t work with my tank due to high numbers of sps/lps thanks again.👍
Hey Craig, haha, no worries. I did have a few comments about the water droplets and PAR readings, but I should have really included it in the 1st video anyway! I will have to increase my light percentage if I ever want to dabble in sps 😀
Great video, always good to know for the future if I want to add a lid as my evaporation at present is causing loads of damp problems in room, happy reefing
Please help! What is the length of dry side? Not sure if it is going to fit behind my tank. Thank you
Hey, I measured it in the video for this very reason incase like myself wanting to put it on the back of the tank. Can't remember what it was now, and I'm not at home to measure it. Just in case it isn't in this video, try the Jebao App Navigation video instead. Hope you find it OK. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@@ReefDrama Thanks. Yes, measurements are in the video. How could I miss that.
@lpvplanet Great. Hope it fits for you 😀
I wonder if there's some correlation between flow rate on these tanks, predominantly from powerheads in the display tank, as well as the type of movement of that flow (Wavemaker) that causes seams to fail vs others of the same model. I've got no doubt that during maintenance, people who use a scrapper all the way up to the silicone may cause separation of joints, but I also seem to remember in the fine print of the RS tanks, that they do not recommend wave type motions in their tanks because of the uniform massive shifts of weight they cause when going side to side, front to back uniformly in wave modes. I've had my RS525XL for roughly 7yrs now and I'm terrified of something like this happening, so I've refrained from the above mentioned as an added measure.
Those clips & that condensation would drive me crazy. I would expect a large par drop due to the condensation. Doesn't seem great for gas exchange either. My first tank (31 years ago) was a 220 with glass lids. Ended up breaking them straight away so I had new ones made of acrylic, which promptly warped under the 400w metal halides 😂 so I went many, many years without a lid. Saw a slight jump in PH when I decided to scrap the lids due to the better gas exchange. Saw a slight temp drop due to "evaporative cooling". Seems like a pain to move a feeder & tilt up that panel up every time you need to get in there. You'll be mopping the floor when you need to remove them.
Hi, yes, as I said in the video about the clips, you'll either love em or hate em! As for the condensation, some of that is from the water washing over the top of the temporary eggcrate divider as it hits the underneath of the lid. Reason for the eggcrate is my Blue Tang has started to nibble on my Puffers tail fin 🙄 Oh no, i guess thats the problem with glass lids 😞 OMG I did acrylic once, they were crap for the same reasons as you, even under my LED lights. I've had no obvious problems so far with gas exchange. My previous Polycarbonate lid on my 425xl had the inserts to cover over the mesh sections, so this is basically the same as that. There's a gap all around the edges plus the 2x rear holes in each lid. I'd love to not have a lid but when you have fish that are prone to jumping and a Blue Tang that can take off and wanna try carpet surfing at any moment you have to have a lid of some sort. Yeah, about the PAR. In the video planning stage (in my head), I included that in the video. Then I forgot when I actually filmed and edited the video!! 🙄 I have a Seneye Reef with PAR meter, so I will do a separate video on the PAR next week. I've not noticed any issues with temperature, if anything the heaters aren't on as much. I try to keep hands out as much as possible so apart from lifting the lid and putting in the magnetic glass cleaner in, or the nori feeding magnetic and doing weekly water changes I don't need to lift the lid. I try and do those 3 on the same day at the same time too 😉 Thanks for your great comment and for supporting my channel 😀
Great lid excellent u will find clear clips trust me. Thank u
Hey, yes, that would be the goal, but I can't find them at the moment. If you know of anywhere that sells clear clips for an 18mm glass tank, please let me know 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@@ReefDrama I got mine on eBay - heads up the lid will sag, it's very annoying. I went for 8mm and even that sags
Hey, oh really. Well I guess if mine starts to sag, then I can just flip it over, and all the feeding/ breathing holes will be in the same place. My acrylic one was really bad for warping. However, my aquarium company polycarbonate lid i had on the 425xl never sagged. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Might not have been the fish, anything wet could bring in disease
I hadn't added anything else other than those Tangs. They were drip acclimated into a heated small tank and then netted out, so no water from the original tank made it into mine. I'm still at a loss really as to how it happened, but I won't be doing it again. Quarantine all the way now 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Hi there. I like the idea of this but it would be interesting to know how much it effects the par from the light. Just in case you have a par meter to test it,out😉😂 keep the vids coming looking forward to the fish house grand opening 🎉
Hey Craig, yes, that's a great question, and in the video planning stage (in my head), I included that in the video. Then I forgot when I actually filmed and edited the video!! 🙄 I have a Seneye Reef with PAR meter, so I will do a separate video on the PAR next week. Thanks for your kind words. Yeah, I can't wait for at least the electrics to be completed in the Fish House! 🥶💡 😆
was the main reason for you doing the cover to stop fish jumping out ? or was it for evaporation ? great work liked your review on the reefmate, keep up the good work
Hey Chris, main reason was the evaporation (previous lid was the Red Sea Mesh DIY one) and hoping to run the dehumidifier less throughout the night. Also, I need a lid of some sort to stop the fish jumping as I have a Wrasse, and the Blue Tang also shoots up out of the water occasionally! 🙄 Thanks, appreciate the comment 😀 and thanks for supporting my channel 😀
im thinking of buying one for my tank. i think when i come to changing rolls i will just staple the new roll that was cut like you did with your video, and roll it around ????????
Hey, definitely a great choice for Roller Mats. Love mine! So do you mean add on to the new roll the old bit that's left essentially making it slightly longer? I guess you could do that. I think I said I would keep it in case a roll ever runs completely out and I haven't yet had a new one delivered. The only problems I can foresee with stapling the old to the new would be at some point the staples will end up in the water when it's down at the bottom of the unit and will the staples easily slide through those black plastic pieces that are clipped together or get snagged, again at the bottom of the unit. Does that make sense? What I do now is when the app tells me the roll is almost finished, I'll turn the roller mat off and unwind what's left, still attached to the roller mat across the dining table that's in front of the tank. I'll then measure the difference and work out almost exactly how long it will last based on my daily usage. (i.e Daily usage 45cm - length of remaining roll 4ft = 2.7 days). Change it accordingly based on that info when you'll be around to do so. Or you just let it run out, and it will stop the unit, and the water will overflow out the sides. Hope this has helped and makes sense. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
It will burst 😢
You're right. It almost did ! Thankfully, I caught it beforehand but was still a pain and stressful to swap it over and move fish and corals about 😞 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Is sine mode more like a structured wave? If so is that bad for the tank seams?
keep going bro
Thanks mate 🙂 appreciate that
Does your puffer eat any of your coral
Hey, no, he doesn't bother with any of them. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Not a problem my local fish store is gonna bring me a juvenile porcupine puffer just like that one and said he shouldn’t bother anything as long as I keep him fed so we will see
** UPDATE ** My dry side has fallen off, so to prevent it from happening again, I've used some soft like packaging material to wedge between the wall and dry side. Thankfully, it's on the rear glass, so able to. DMP 30 on 18mm glass.
Merry Christmas fella , best wishes , see you on the next one in the new year 🥳🥳🎄🎄👍🏻
Thank you 😀 Merry Christmas to you, too, and I hope you have a great 2025 🥂🎊🎉🍻
Looking great, loved watching this series of videos. Keep up the great work. Shame you are not making it in for Christmas but the positive is you will have a fresh start in 25 to look forward to.
Thanks Craig 😀 Yeah was really hoping to at least have the office area set up for Xmas but things just took a bit longer than expected trying to get it done around work and home life, and then couldn't get the sparky back in time before he finished for Xmas. But yeah, fresh start in 2025! 😀 Have a great Xmas and New Year, mate.
Congratulations. The fish house is looking fabulous, the work you have put into it is incredible. Can't wait to see the finished house in 2025. Have a very happy restful Christmas, and a here's to Reef Drama in 2025.
Thank you 😀 I can't wait either, and yes, I'm having a break now from work and working on the fish house over Xmas. Roll on 2025! Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
BRStv has a good video with Elliot Lim from Marine Collectors that provides an excellent quarantine schedule...
Thanks. I'll have a watch. I did Copper on my last QT, which worked out great, so I will probably do the same kinda thing. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀 Merry Xmas 🎉🎊
Seen 2 reviews on this now this week, really like it and really like the price. I will definitely be getting this product in the new year for the Red Sea tank I will be collecting in January 🙌🏾 can’t wait
Awesome. The price is really good and as this hobby is expensive enough it's nice to be able to get a good deal once in a while. Good luck with your new set up 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel and Merry Christmas 🎉🎊
@ Any bargains and I’m there lol Will try and keep my channel updated during the process to keep people up to date. Merry Christmas to u and ur’s also pal 👊🏾🎄
@jonomufc7 Absolutely!! Yes, definitely, I'll come find you and subscribe. No doubt I'll do a 6 month update 😀 Thank you. Have a good one, mate 👍
My aquarium burst all over my floor 4 years old reefer 425xl. Redsea offered me €700 i will be getting out of the hobby 😢
Sorry to hear that 😞 Shame you're leaving the hobby, but you never know a few years down the road the Salty world might start calling again! Good luck either way, man. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Does your puffer go for corals much? Always wanted one
Hi, no, Piney doesn't go for any of the corals. Never has. They are very personable tho and act just like a puppy !! 😆 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
I know what happened.... you put the sump in backwards. Those baffles should be in the back.
Hooray !!!! Well done !! You're the 1st person to comment the answer !! Haha. Couldn't believe it when I noticed. Let's just say I didn't need the blue lights as the air was quite blue !! Thank you for supporting my channel 😀
Is this the G2+ ?
No, it was the 425xl. I now have the 625xl G2, tho 😀
What is your aquarium glass thinkness please?
Hey, it's 18mm, I believe. The tank is the Red Sea 625xl G2. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Looking really good 👍
Thanks Craig. It's coming along nicely now 😀
Fantastic video
Thanks so much 😀 Thank you for supporting my channel 😀
Incredible build. Been watching from day 1,looking forward to seeing the completed fish house. Congrats on such detailing.Keep up the good work.
Thank you 😊 I can't wait either ! Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
How can I feed manually when I have a program running?
Hi, for adhoc feeding, you can either just press the button on the control panel, or you can do it through the app. It will just start up again once the feed timer ends and go back to the normal program. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Fantastic video! Keep us updated with the build :D
Thanks very much 😀 Hopefully drop the next update at the weekend as it should be an easy week this week 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@@ReefDrama Looking forward to it :D
Did you sterilise the tank water before using it ? If not you could introduce other plankton species
Hi, no, I didn't sterilise the tank water. Perhaps freshly made saltwater would have been a better choice 🤔
Ok been 2 years any update? Did it work ? Thanks
Hey, I haven't got an update as it wasn't really a fair chance for it. Having a very large Porcupine Puffer fish that's very messy when it eats creates high Nitrates (around 40-50ppm). After the 1st month, I took the little denitrification catalyst bit out and just left in the ceramic sections. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Is there a way to disable using the app And just forget it exists?
Hey, you should just be able to set it up via the controller itself using the 'set' and 'arrow' buttons. Once set up, just leave it. Which one have you brought? Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Did he glue the rubber roof down?
Hey, no, the roof wasn't glued down. I did query this, and apparently, they've been doing it like this the whole time with no issues. Obviously, it is something to keep an eye on, but it does have a 15 or 20 year warranty. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
when i saw the suction cups i was out
Why's that? It still has the Magnet like the EcoTech. The suction cups just keep the one side in place once you've removed the other side. It's a great idea, I think. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
it really helps when i clean the wet side i know where im gonna place it back immediately ❤
Has the g2 started failing????
Mine hasn't, but time will tell, I guess. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
YES
Fak Red Sea and the reefer line!
Not a fan, then.
Comprehensive guide thanks
Thank you. I'm pleased my video is helping people 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
I’m taking down my MP10 , I’m tired of replacing the wet side . It’s costly and not budget friendly
Hey, these are definitely a cheaper option, and it's quiet and powerful. I've always wanted a couple of EcoTech MP's on the back wall but could never justify the cost. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@@ReefDrama you welcome sir
What do you think of this rock?
I personally really like it. There's some great shapes available and some one off large pieces too if you look around. Never had any issues with it leaching phosphates either. I love the colour of it right from day one in the tank. I've never been a fan of the more purple rock you see advertised. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Ive used this video before to get my inkbird connected to my app but this time after upgrading the app to inkbird pro i cant get my app an inkbird synced. When i choose the correct inkbird nothing changes on the device. Is there not a way to set it through the device itself?
0:28 That’s what she said!
😆
neat review also what u use for hanging the light ? do u have a name or link for that ?
Hi, thanks 😊 Yeah the light bracket is an Evolution Aqua. I did a video on it a few years ago if you want to have a watch of that. The title is 'Saltwater Tank Hanging Light Bracket 1200 | Evolution Aqua'. Hope this helps. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@ thank you
