There is silicon bound in the diatoms. If they weren’t there, your silicon would be much higher.

Hey Joseph, yes, you're right the silicate level would be higher. I will leave the Sera Silicate removal media in for the maximum 3 months as stated on the box and see what's happens. Will send off for another ICP test to compare with the previous one.

Trust time solves everything trust me I use to use all the chemicals and gadgets and it only made things worse just keep you alk cal phos and nitrates in check and stable and you will find everything will get better over time

Hey Liam, yeah, I usually only dose KH and just run Rowa and Nitrate Pearls and don't really use chemicals. This new tank and sand (everything else was transferred from the old 400 litre tank) has been up and running for around 4 or 5 months now. Thought by now it would have settled out. Had to resort to chemicals this time 😞
No problem keeping Alk, Cal (need to dose that one now by the looks of it) and Phos in check. Nitrates, however, are a little harder due to the Puffer, although they usually around 40 / 50 ppm.
Thanks for your comments and for supporting my channel 😀

Hey Liam, oh really? Sorry to hear that, mate. Do you know why it crashed your tank? What sort of dose were you doing for your tank? Did you have SPS and LPS, etc?
