    I used Seachem Phosguard, followed correct doses for tank size, cleared up diatom bloom in 2 days without affecting the parameters and all corals and fish are happy.

    My experience is with freshwater tanks that you did cove. I agree "wait out" is what is needed but you need the self-disciple to leave it and from experience then it seems to clear very quickly.

    My reef aquarium has been up for 15+ years and recently had a large breakout of diatoms. I use only RO water for top off but had some cyano on a large rock that I couldn’t completely get rid of. Made the mistake of taking the large live rock out and did a quick rinse under tap water, drip dried and put it back in the aquarium. Couple weeks later the diatoms covered most of the rock, sand, walls and pumps. My question is how would you go about removing the diatoms in an established tank with lps, sps, anemones and fish? Not sure if I can starve them with blackout and no food for 4-5 days.?. I have a handful of turbo snails and my water quality is all in range. Thanks

      That's cause a lot of his info is wrong, like light impacting it. He also keeps referring to it as an algae and it's not an algae at all.

    thanks for uploading i have a 3 week old tank and the diatoms have started....i thought it may be brown cyano or similar as there appears to be bubbles coming off/resting on top of a few of the brown patches...i have 2 clowns and added a very healthy dose of colony at the same time they went in along with using live sand.

    Hi I have diatoms I think, my water is very cloudy from cleaning the glass all the time, skimmer is full of brown water, socks are brownish orange my tank is 169Gal or 640L have three Green Chromis and a few snails, plus Elegance coral Hammer and Torch all quite small and seem happy but I am guessing the no light option is not doable ? should I just wait it out? I'm worried about the corals, tank is new about 6 weeks old, Phosphates are 0 Nitrate 0 and everything else is good, appreciate any suggestion thank you.

    • @haroonsaliem3094
      @haroonsaliem3094 3 года назад

      Having 0 for nitrate and phosphates is bad because ur hammers, elegance coral and torch like a bit of dirty water also have very low nutrients can cause dinoflagellates which is way harder to get rid of then diatoms.
