San Bernardino Amazon Workers Lead Mass Walkout
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 авг 2022
- When Amazon workers in California met with their manager to demand a raise, they couldn't believe his response. He suggested they start carpooling & use more Amazon company perks. So 150+ courageous workers led one of the largest mass walkouts in Amazon history.

As a former Amazon worker at the Moreno Valley distribution center this is common practice. Work employee as much a possible if you don’t like it to bad. They are horrible. Prior to working for them I thought people complaining had poor work ethic. I personally experienced multiple safety issues & discrimination once I got pregnant. It’s NOT a good company to work for. They exploit your need to work to provide for your family. Shame on Jeff. He knows EXACTLY what he’s doing . He has made Billions with these practices.
I like what the Publix owners did. At the end gave back stock to long working employees: those workers retired well. Home bass Publix grocery store - Lakeland Fla. and they were not cheap
I agree with you Maureen! I think Jeff Bezos is heartless. In most cases I despise unions, but I believe that in situations where you have some super rich guy, and he has no compassion, you need to band together. Best wishes, Steve
I'm a stockholder in Amazon and have voted to have the company be transparent with reports concerning employees. I am with the employees to get paid a better wage

This Amazon warehouse air hub that’s located at the old SB Airport STANDS OUT completely because of the low income area it’s in. These people deserve better wages so they can afford a better living environment also.
Shame on Amazon. You know how rotten you are. I support the workers! Everyone deserves a living wage, ESPECIALLY if the owner is a multibillionaire.
So you really think making 21 dollars is livable in Cali???🤣🤣🤣🤣 yea okay.. is they them 21 they’re going to have to pay everyone across the border 21.

As a UPS driver I’m glad they’re trying to unionize. I’ll be out there delivering and see those Amazon drivers working their butts off getting paid half what I get. I really hope all of Amazon workers unionize so they get what they right fully deserve. Good pay, benefits, working conditions, and job security. Keep at it guys!!!
I know you post your comments while ago and I be hearing worker at Amazon told me they can get rid of a worker for nothing and hiring someone else
These workers deserve Dignity and Safety. It is 109* in San Bernardino, Ca. today, with summers and heat waves getting worse each year, Amazon needs to move on better pay NOW and these workplaces MUST have A/C. Love and Solidarity from the IE DSA, keep fighting for what you deserve ✊
How does a $800.00 a month raise change the weather? or provide dignity, better yet where is the loss of dignity occurring and from what? If safety is an issue point out where and contact OSHA.
Im not saying these workers dont deserve a raise, maybe they do maybe they dont, but using arguments to garner emotional support that dont fit the demand arent helping your case, Amazon isnt going to agree , and supplying you dignity isnt their job or responsibility. Neither is the current gas cost increase, which has most of us squeezed so tight we're all springing leaks. You can easily fix tht by not voting for Democrats, especially Biden who deliberately caused the oil shortage, by cancelling the last section of the pipeline, stopping [pumping in Anwar, and cancelling all drilling permits. It was literally his first action as president, and decreased our supply by 800,000 barrels a day. I work for a living too, but I focus my angst toward the places causing it . And I dont think starting with an 800.00 a month increase was well planned out, nor is acting like everything is Amazons fault or problem. Im sure whats his face could afford the increase, but you'll have better luck and success working toward a movement to vote out Democrats, their worse than Putin.

What makes you think the warehouse doesn't have a/c?
@@mgomez9736 Well it does have A/C, for the managers office. I know because I have friends who have worked there and some who work there now.
@@maxstrawn3788 only the managers office has a/c? I find that hard to believe. Those amazon buildings aren't that old and they have plenty of amenities. Just like the rest of the Amazon warehouses across the country.
An ex coworker of mine worked from fedex. He worked unloading cargo containers and some of them are very dirty. One day he went to doctor because he said his eye's were hurting and hard to see. I don't remember what it was called but it was caused by the dirty bins. An inspector took samples of the containers and the contents inside were somewhat harmful in multiple ways.. He has to put special eye drops in eyes everyday and might run the risk of going blind. This happened to a few other guys he was working with too. Take care of yourself at these jobs lads

Amazon is an easy target so they get all the attention. Honestly, Amazon’s warehouse conditions were much better than those at several Kohl’s warehouses I’ve worked at and the pay is still better than what I currently make as a supervisor at a well-known pharmacy chain. Not excusing Amazon, just a reminder that they’re far from the only company keeping their employees in wage slavery. Let’s not allow the worker movement to become about one company and let the rest slide. If transportation circumstances and other responsibilities didn’t force me to work closer to home I’d gladly go back to a 73 degree warehouse and that pay.
It’s not only Amazon! Haven’t you been updated? There are so many other companies who are also being targeted!!
Workers in California are not paid well enough to live there!
Can the CEO of Kohls afford to blow $1 billion on a shitty TV series? Yeah, not the same.
These are spoiled brats.
For someone to make a comment like that is part of the problem!!!! Workers don't understand their worth, the laws, and economics of the system. I work for Walgreens Distribution in Moreno Valley with the masses of employees willing to to take anything they say and work in poor conditions!!!!! It's sad wake up people stop degrading yourself...only a handful of people get it...

As a born and bred San Bernardino resident, I wanna see this city come back from the brink so bad. Infrastructure is good. But dude this 109 degree heat, 6.50/gal gas, absurd rent even in the ghettos, this ain’t it chief. People need a Livable wage and politicians need to bring the cost of living down. That dude is right, screw mars we’re all trying to make a living here
Californians keep voting for democrats that want to run it in the ground. What do you expect?

I’m so proud of my fellow workers across the other side of America! Amazon Employees Workers Need To Unionize.
@@johndicksonkaraoke2554
Absolutely they should!
I don’t know if shopping Amazon helps or hurts the employees fighting for a living wage. I also know Amazon isn’t the only corporation screwing their employees.
If Amazon unionizes, shopping there helps not just the corporation but the workers.
Is there a way if you place a order to make sure it only comes from union facilities?
Form a union with the Teamsters
My cousin works for Amazon warehouse in San Bernardino, he says it's always very hot and humid inside, only big fans are on the entrances... They are getting paid so little for carrying huge and heavy boxes
Increase their wages Amazon! You didn't ask your members is if it was ok if you raised your membership cost for Prime you just did it and that was that. Wtf???
And like Prime members cancelling, these 'employees can decide to not work for Amazon.. Ez...
Rooting for them to win! They deserve to earn more as they are hardworking and people appreciate them for their service just as the UPS or Fed-Ex guys do!
"If I could speak with Jeff Bezos, I would invite him to San Bernardino to work in this warehouse, where you're only making $17 dollars an hour, and it's unsafe conditions for 10 hours a day. I want to see what you can do, I want to see if you could handle it."

Only $17/hour? That sounds pretty good to me to work in a warehouse. I’d like to see these employees do what Bezos does everyday and see if they can handle it. Clearly he can handle more, that’s why he makes more 🙄.

You can’t really be that unaware of history. Really, put your little fist in the air and chant you communist slogans. “Solidarity” and shortly after, unemployment.
I live in Cleveland, OH where rent and gas are about as cheap as you'll find in the country. I make what they are asking for doing customer service in an office. Their demand is not only reasonable, it's selling themselves short.
It doesn’t seem like they are asking too much. I live in California and the cost of living is very high, so for the same work they should get paid more here in California than other areas where the same house cost 1/3 as much.
What they understand is everyone is replaceable. Unless you hold a unique trade there's 100 people behind you to do your job.
But what then when those “other 100 people” walk out too? Are we gonna place responsibilities on big corporations?
Guess that’s why they can’t seem to find anyone to hire, right?
Solidarity with all those fighting for the right to organize and against massive exploitation of those who make the profits, the workers!
In 1973 rent was 100 dollars minimum wage was around 3 dollars and it was still was not enough !! Today 2022 even 20 dollars an hour still it's not enough
@@colgatetoothpaste4865 Agreed, unfortunately your looking at the problem from the wrong angle. Look at whose policies are creating this artificial inflation, its been going on for many decades. This is a fight you cant and wont win unless you want us to become communists. Dont be fooled by evil politicians who are literally controlling all of this. Inflation is a hidden tax and only the government wins. Why is it first thing this administration did after 2 quarters of negative growth is run out and hire 87,000 new IRS agents. and not get more oil or finish the pipeline which would have solved all our financial problems. Because they dont care.
Look it up yourself. A Land Value Tax (on land only and not on a land's capital improvements) while at the same time eliminating income taxes for the 90% of the population would go a long way towards reducing income and asset inequality.
Given land can not be 'hidden' from public view, the wealthy elite will find it much tougher to evade paying taxes.
It has been labelled by some as "the perfect tax".
I think we have to do a mass walk out of every corporation. These people who think they own and control the people need a “come to Jesus” moment.
Inflation is out of control these people should be grateful they even have a job
I totally agree with you if he gives them a raise of five dollars an hour pretty soon they will ask for more. I’m not trying to defend the company most of my family works for amozan including my son. They should be given reasonable raise.
Rumor has it that the workers that stayed got a five dollar increase and the people who walked out got terminated
I have a cleaning lady and when she asked for five dollars raise she got it. She doesn’t pick up nothing heavier than bucket of water. We provide everything as far as cleaning stuff and makes 27 $ cash. Thank you Dorthy.
$17/hr in California in 2022 doing that kind of work is f***ing criminal.
Yeah why everyone is stealing more!
Get a second job .most people with high incomes work over 70 hours a week earning around 20 dollars an hour after taxes and hours worked
We can also show support by not buying anything from Amazon and letting them know why.

My brother -in-law got hurt at Amazon. He was climbing down out of a truck & the railing broke, he fell & broke his leg & was rushed to the hospital (by rushed, I mean gave him the side eye for leaving mid-shift). Amazon demanded he come to work THE NEXT DAY & told him he could just sit at a desk & work, meanwhile the hospital wanted him to stay for further examination cuz the knee was so inflamed. Not only should wages be increased but Amazon's notoriously unfair write up process needs to be changed. HR wanted to blame me for the HARMLESS mistakes caused by other fellow coworkers. Their logic was "we expect more out of tier 3 associates" (they wanted me to take the initiative and correct their behaviors despite me earning the same salary as them). They're evil.

Take note that the air loaders actually have to get FAA certified and licensed just to do that job and 5 years ago when I did the same job for FedEx I only got 50 cents more than the rank and file
Take note, there is a line of people begging for that job. They have interest lists to move to ramp. The ramp people don’t want to go into the building then complain about the heat.
Also, these are day shift workers. Night shift gives $1.50 raise and is much cooler outside.

As an ex employee of Amazon… In Southern California… I would say their wages are fair. If you compare their wages to competitors in the area… they are right on par. This job requires no experience or education. And is a job with full benefits. Usually having optional overtime… I fail to see the issue.. and no air conditioning… have these people ever worked warehouse in their lives? What were they truly expecting??
Did yu not listen to the whole video?
They said that because of location and the doors opening and closing constantly lets in all that 100+ degree heat into the building where they work making it hotter than it should simply because of poor architect design. Even when i worked at a bottling warehouse in and out on a forklift we always kept the temperature at least room temp.
Hi Marty. Maybe there is a good compromise here. Amazon should share profits or give some kind of stock option two employees so they can have a chance to get ahead just like Jeff Bezos. He is not a special human being other than being quite savvy. Everyone else has the same dreams and desires. So he should make it possible for them to profit from their productivity. It’s the way I always do business.
@@steveperreira5850
When I worked there they did give you 8 shares after completing two years of employment. Employees, however, voted in a higher pay wage and got rid of the stock options.
Amazon also helps pay for college after one year of employment to help better your career even if it’s not intended to be within the company.
You clearly are uninformed or misinformed about the company. Not to sound pretentious or disrespectful… but the people that walked out are about the same as kids that do a walk out at high school… They we’re more excited about missing work/school for a day than anything else.
@@martinsandoval9380 have you ever walked or driven into a trailer inside a warehouse? They are literal ovens. The same as these shipping containers. People all around the world do it. Not to be rude but it’s part of the business. Welcome to warehouse.
I disagree, Marty. I have worked warehouse. It’s brutal. The point is, if Henry Ford could double the rate of pay back in the early 1900s - before he became filthy rich - then Jeff B can do the same. Amazon will only benefit from such a move.
Amazing
I am on the East Coast and are building warehouses galore. When I see a worker, I try to buy them lunch. They are always so nice. I didn’t know this was happening.
I worked for Amazon a few years ago i was doing the rate in that time 175 items packed in box per hour, one day i couldnot do it they have too many people fighthing ,or cheeating trying to do the rate , i got requested at human resources the gave a letter with a check and suspenden me for not doing the rate missing by 2 % of the production, they told the were going to judge and maybe give a second chance i walked out and never went back to Amazon and a few months later a got a check from Amazon i was fired withot real justification I dont buy from Amazon, they dont care for people just make money exploiting people
If they use the Amazon Fresh coupons, it's $20 off $40. And those coupons are infinite use, I can get so much more groceries than anywhere else. I bet a minimum wage worker could feel rich using that coupon.
