- The workers who make Rice Krispies & Froot Loops are on strike at all Kellogg's U.S. cereal plants. They work 16-hour forced overtime shifts and 7-day work weeks, sometimes up to 120 days straight. Now, amid record profits, Kellogg's wants to cut their pay & benefits.

I’m so tired of these huge companies treating people this way; for what it’s worth I support you guys 💯 and will be praying that Kellogg shows some compassion for all of your concerns because they are valid. 🙏🏽
Capitalist mayhem indeed..we simply aren't evolving as a society. People love their xanax & their Adderall tho..the rat race is an illusion. People don't need gucci belts & blood diamonds..they need a solution based purpose. Period. RESPECT 💯🦾
They don’t care they use the “there are people who want this job if you don’t want to be here”
I am too but these people signed contracts for this so they knew. As you can see most of them have been there 10 plus years. I know the company is stealing from them but come to where I live we do the same things for less money and no benefits..
@@frozedokkanbattle this is unionized so they don't use that tactic. Half of these people have made tok much for too long. 20% of the staff does 80% of the work but in a union they all get paid the same.
Compassionate ~ processed food part of SAD= standard American diet which is been killing us for over 50 years and actually starting with the Kellogg's and the Post familys in the early 1900s.
I watched my dad give his life working for a big corporation that got rid of him after 30 years of service without warning and with no benefits whatsoever. I decided at a young age that I would never work for "the man". I learned a skill (hardwood floor specialist) and started my own little business. Now I work when I want, for however long I want, I charge what I want, and I make a decent living doing it.
Do you do other types of construction jobs ? I know people who make good side money by doing side “handy man “ jobs
Glad to see you are one small businessman that the government didn't get rid of by way of 'covid'. Because as far as I'm concerned that's all it was.
@@therealman2016 I do some other construction related jobs. Things I know how to do. I can do staircases and I can also do trim work. I also do all types of lament, vinyl, and engineered flooring. I've been thinking about getting into tile work, but tile is heavy as hell and super brittle. I've unloaded pallets of tile before and it's something I really don't want to do lol.
@@werenotfree6412 thank you! Yeah, Covid didn't really slow me down at all. Pandemic or not deadlines have to be met and people want to get into the houses they're spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on building/remodeling. @Marian Drake68 If there was constant turnover, the union would be weak and Kellogg would be able to put even more downward pressure on benefits for new workers

Guess what? It isn't illegal for companies to abuse their employees, but it *is* illegal for other industries (like, say, truckers or electricians) that do business with this Kellogg's plant to have sympathy strikes. The Taft-Hartley act that created the legal framework for unions in the US was designed leave unions crippled and ineffective.

Every major factory or warehouse has this issue.
You have my support, cereal plant workers. I'm at one of the snack production plants and they are doing the same to us. The company claims we "volunteer" for overtime. No, we don't. We sign to work weekends because we already know we're going to get forced, so we sign to work so we at least don't get stuck working even more double shifts. They often force us on double shifts throughout the week, we don't even know we're being stuck over until less than an hour before our shift is supposed to be over. . .and we can't even go make a phone call so our families/loved ones know we may not be home for another eight hours. The company doesn't care. They will work people until they physically or mentally break down, preaching "safety" but practicing none of it. All through the pandemic in 2020 they pretended to support us, calling us "essential" and saying "thank you" while forcing us to work weekends and holidays and consecutive double shifts. The CEO sits in his $6M home, making an $11.6M salary while the company posts record profits, but they "can't afford" to pay their people. Shame on Kellogg's.

@@NoahBodze I went to college after I finished high school in 2004. Then I graduated college in 2008 with a bachelors in communications and began networking and going to job fairs to try to secure a decent job. I would see the same companies at multiple job fairs but NONE of them were willing to consider me despite my impressive resume and inquiries, so I finally just took a part time, minimum wage job at a thrift store after 2 years of getting nowhere. But even to get the thrift store job I had to go to a separate building about an hour drive from the store, complete an application there, and then wait to get a call from the boss, IF he was going to hire me.
For a PART TIME, MINIMUM WAGE job that paid me,a college graduate with student loan debt, only $8.07 an hour.
It would have been more than worth it for another company to hire me in lieu of their own entitled employees who were basically HANDED a great job due to illegal nepotism, and thus had no appreciation at all for the job like I would. I was born and raised there in battle Creek. Them post and Kellogg's workers never got treated far. I can recall them always doing a strike over the years of growing up. I appreciate them all. Love and prayers for them all.
I work for Kellogg's for 41 years and retired in 2017. It's a shame of what they're doing to the employees it's only because of greed at the top.
It was such a great company and made them so much money That they could build other factories and save more money but they weren't happy because of the greed in them. There was over 4,000 people when I started in 1976 now they have a few hundred.
Early this summer I bought a box of frosted mini wheats that I always love so much, but when I tasted them it taste like crap. They cheapen up the recipe and making them in Mexico now. I will not buy any Kellogg's, keebler or Pop-Tarts till the company in good faith settles this with the union.
The problem is trying to hire workers you dont want to pay overtime. No company does

So you know that these people have committed to this because they do make tons of money and have beautiful benefits. They keep talking about not being able to just get a day off, of course not you all bargained your contract to those specific amounts of time off so you can only be mad at yourselves. Like you most of these people have been here 10 plus years. I'm not saying they aren't getting over used but it's mostly machine and you can see none of them are in real working shape. They started out evil and have gone downhill. Never again
I support all of you! I pledge to NEVER buy another Kellogg’s product again! Complete boycott!
So here's the next problem... all these people that spoke up on camera now are facing retaliation from the company. They spoke negatively, now they will face probably worse conditions. I've worked for a few companies that are just like Kelloggs... they are not the only company in Michigan that has heartless owners. Sadly, the fantasy of a true "family" business where the owners care about their employees and are genuinely concerned for them is GONE. That mindset doesn't exist anymore. All owners care about is the almighty dollar, not the employees. Perfect example is safety. No company cares about employee safety on the job until something happens.
Just because these employees make allegedly $120,000 doesn't mean they should have to work thier lives away!!! They have families and lives too, and the next guy shouldn't be expected to work 16 hour days for one person to get a day off! I support this strike!
And $120k isn't that much money, especially if you have a family. And who cares about $120k when you are never home long enough to spend it.

This company must not realize that having their employees to work sixteen straight hours is placing those employees at risk because when they get behind the wheel of their vehicles they are impaired. Being fatigued while driving is an impairment. Just like long haul truckers aren't allowed to drive after a number of hours. I hope that these employees file a class action lawsuits against the company. If nothing else it will get their attention. Also it's a disruption to their sleep patterns. I'm sure that theirs plenty of them have problems sleeping.
And that leaves their family without them. Sure the family may have a lawsuit in certain states but the loss of a family member isn't worth it
As long as the workers don't crash into a company executive's car, the company won't care.

Kellogg gives out billions in dividends? Wow. That guy knows something no one else does.
What ever happened to equal opportunity employeer, this does not sound like equal pay or equal benefits, stand strong, employees !!!!!
I'll never eat Kellogg's again and I'll tell all my friends never to buy Kellogg's Product until they fix this issue you cannot treat your employees like that and expect them to work
The greed of companies like Kellogg’s is what’s causing many of the problems, not just in our country, but in the world today. They tell you that you are making a comparable or higher wage to similar jobs in your area, but that is not a fair gauge to use. Example, if similar jobs around you were making minimum wage, but you get paid $1 more an hour, would that be acceptable from a company that makes billions in PROFIT, not revenue? It shouldn’t be, but that is their attitude. The disturbing thing, is that they could pay their people more and give them better benefits, and still make crazy amounts of money, but choose not to. People need to understand the difference between a million and a billion dollars. I think most people don’t truly understand how rich these companies are.
Kellogg's does not pay $1 more. Master Contract Agreement for BCTGM union employees top pay was $35.26 plus generous benefits. With overtime most are making average $120,000 per year in 2020 (Kellogg's reports). Loaded labor rate was over $72/hour. Typically work 56 to 84 hour weeks.
@@bruces2665 the workers at multi billion dollar companies should have great pay and benefits. Not every company can pay what these behemoths can, so to compare their pay to smaller companies during negotiations demonstrates a lack of integrity on their part. As for the $120,000 a year figure, if that’s true, those workers are living there and deserve every penny of it. Kellogg’s isn’t struggling either
@@dustinger loaded wage rate is over $72/hour. It is not like they are making $10/hour. Kellogg is also doing well

I want to know where y’all were 8 years ago when the Memphis Plant went on strike. It took 10 months!!! It feels like the rest of the plants let them dangle out there by themselves.
I have a relative who works for a Chevrolet dealership who doesn’t make a base salary; he only makes money when he makes sales. Also. They are called in to work on their off days!! Also there is a paint company in Atlanta who has made their employees work almost every Saturday since the pandemic began! They actually said that they were an essential company!!! They never closed!😳
I live in Battle Creek about a mile and a half maybe two miles from where they're all picketing. I got to tell you everyone always thinks that if you live in the same city you get cheaper cereal and how great it must be and I got to tell you people keep forgetting Kellogg's is a big very wealthy Corporation. This is not a family business. They don't care about the individual like they used to. Hell I'm not even sure they care about the community at all Beyond making sure that they get the best prices on taxes and that they have access to their factories. I know many many many people including family that work either in headquarters or in the factory. It's BS what they're doing. I'm behind the workers 110%
What was the outcome? Did they get a better contract?
@@JAASON9091 this is going to be sad but I have no idea. I think about a month ago they were still picketing because Kellogg's was trying to hire people and pay them even less than they pay the people that were picketing. Now I'm really curious. I stopped getting our local newspaper and I definitely don't watch the news on TV
@@JAASON9091 I just talked to my sister who used to work for them but not in the factory and I went online and looked. It looked like they were on strike for 11 weeks. And then apparently they ratified their contracts for the next five years or something. I don't know all the details
My mom worked at a Kellogg factory for a while. Her job was sweeping up the cereal that hit the floor and put it back on the conveyor belt.
I worked for a very big beverage company (you know their name) and we had the same thing. 12hr shifts, 7 days a week, 364 days per year. They shut down on Christmas day. That was it. I takes a heavy toll on a person to work that many hours per week non stop.
Wtf
Is it Coca-Cola?
@@ziggysmom5646 yes
@@rocknrollrich1 😩....now I got to quit drinking that. Killing me since it's my drink of choice. I am sorry to know this.
If the CEO took a $10 million dollar paycut and gave it away to his workers. It would give 500 workers a $20,000 pay increase. Greed has taken over the world.
Have my comment and like for the algorithm :)

Thinking of you and praying for you!🙏🏻
I’m boycotting all Kellogg’s products at this time.
I felt bad for them until that guy peed on the assembly line, which only effects the consumers and does not affect the CEOs you are mad at. I dont feel bad for them anymore. I dont care how bad things are for you, you dont take it out on the food that other people are struggling to pay for to feed their children.
