Bismarck story in short: The Allied knew about the ship and the germans
knew that they knew. To make sure it doesen't get sunk in harbour it was
sent out before it's escort was ready. They had strict order to ignore
everything and make haste for the atlantic to search and sink cargo
ships to starve out britain. on its way the bismarck got intercepted by
the HMS hood, the pride of the british navy and two other ships. They
started firing on the Bismarck, which was not reacting and just keeping
it's course. at some point the captain of the bismarck said something
like "I don't let them shoot us unpunished", they turned the turrets,
fired once, missed, calculated the next one, fired a second salvo and
boom, gone was the pride of the british navy. Mostly because of the
shock the Hood's escort ships retreated (for now). But of course the
brits got pissed and sent out every available ship to seek, hunt and
sink the Bismarck. A lucky torpedo hit the bismarck's rudder and they
were unable to fix it on their own. After the british fleet arrived it
took a 3 hour pounding to beat the bismarck. and even then the bismarck
was scuttled by it'S own crew to make sure it's technology doesn'T get
into enemy hands.
I highly recomment the movie "Sink the Bisarck".
I think the quote from Bismarck's captain was something like, "I will not have my ship shot out from under my ass!"

The Royal Navy couldn't sink Bismarck because unlike German they were following the rules and regulations put in place on warship building so when they the German Navy when it came to firepower and armour they where somewhat outmatched does this mean the Royal Navy was incapable of fighting hell no because as history shows that despite this the Royal navy held its own through WW2.
@@samuel10125 Rules of building a warship... i think physics and materials are the only restricting stuff. british ships at that time were just old. Thats the only difference.
I saw Sabaton 4 weeks ago in Wacken. The Show was incredible. Over 2 Stages. Absolutely amazing!!!

Thank you to World of Warships for creating the amazing battle scene for this video. All the ships and fighting were created using CGI, then used Live Action actors placed into the scene. This is just one example of some of World of Warship's amazing battle scenes they can make. BTW- World of Warships is a free to play warship game.

The Sabaton song that makes soldiers cry is "Lifetime of war". It points out the pointlessness of war.
After the British Navy sank the Bismarck they tried to save as many people as they could but had to leave because if German U-boats(submarines) in the area.
You have WarGaming, a Russian company that make World of Tanks, World of Warships and World of Warplanes for this video. They did it in collaberation with Sabaton for their World of Warships game. "Primo Victoria" the words painted onto the side of the trawler is a shout out to the song Sabaton did for World of Tanks. Right at the end you cut it off. It goes on to dedicate the song all men of ALL nations that fought and died in the Battle of the Atlantic.

Trivia: The boat captain in the video was the son of the last Bismarck survivor, his dad was meant to be in it but was in failing health so his son took his place, the Vet. died not long after the video.
When an old wooden torpedo plane basically disables and dooms the baddest warship created (at that time in the war)... now you know why all our money goes into aircraft carriers lol.

Yeah the Bismarck was too advanced its aa guns couldn't move slow enough they were expected to be attacked by the best. The Brits didnt have the best they sent what they had available which was a blessing in disguise.
Just like when they mistook their own ship as the bismark and found out the torpedoes were duds. Realized they had the wrong ship and changed the torpedo type.
And then the Japanese create the Yamato and the Musashi lol
Motionless2 ehh... still think the Missouri class would have stomped the Yamato. It was faster and had far better fire controls

Don't get me wrong, the Hood was an awesome ship but the Bismarck was on a whole other level.
@@0d138 bismarck was an awesome ship but it had many problems. It was sent out too early soo the anti air was in complete and the radar systems were weak. It also would have helped if the crew got few months of more training

i blame the high german command for sending Bismarck out. I’m not trying to support the Axis or anything but from a common sense type of position, her escort was to consist of Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, and I believe her sister Tirpitz. sending her out with just Prinz Eugen was a suicidal run, and even then they had a chance to stop Ark Royal from sending her biplanes because Bismarck’s fellow sub-child, U-556 was nearby. however she had nothing to fire and watched helplessly as destiny took off.
@@Ranger215able I mean if you think about it the Bismarck would of had a big impact on British supplies and the battle for Britain. The German high command was trying to have her stay hidden thats why she only had the prince Eugen as a support. She was trying to stay hidden.

The wreck of the Bismarck is 17.5 thousand feet below sea level about 5 thousand feed deeper than the Titanic. Its wreck is remarkably well preserved, but I guess any warship that is over 50 thousand tons wouldn't wither away quickly. He had 8 fifth teen inch guns meaning the bore of the gun was 15 inches across each AP shell weighs 1775 pounds. Few ships of European navies had the firepower of Bismarck outside of England Nelson Class battleships. The USS North Carolina would be launched only a month or so after Bismarck was sunk which had 1 extra gun and a larger 16-inch guns.

probaably been mentioned, but the Drummer of Sabaton is married to Nightwish'es vocalist Floor Jensen, the planes showed in the video, is old ww1 era Biplanes, because thats all the English navy had at that time for Aircraft carriers (to deploy torpedoes), Bismarck and Prince Eugen was...pretty much sendt out on aa suicide mission, breaking trough the allied forces in the atlantic with 2 ships, with no air support, vs the whole English royal navy, with bits of Polish, Norwegian, Danish and french units supporting, was a doomed expedition, brave sailors who fought to the last
If Bismarck came back from its watery grave let's hope that the Japanese Battleship Musashi and Yamato. They would throw shells weighing more than a minivan each.

Also notice how they call the ship "he", all other ships are by tradition "she" but the captain did not like that.
So I'm not surprised by their destiny, any lady will nurture, protect and make sure you get home safely if treated right, not so sure if you start up by calling her "he" though... But I guess that's just sailor superstition. 😀😁
fun fact 2500 shots was fierd at her and 400confirmd hits but she dind sink before the subs came and torbedo her under the water line. A hela beast even at todays standards :)
Bismarck was not torpedoed by submarines, those were fired by the HMS Dorsetshire, a heavy cruiser.
This looks like they 'borrowed' the animated portion of the Bismarck episode of History Channel series 'Dogfights' and spruced it up, especially when the torpedo planes sweep in

November 1st, Worcester Ma, The Palladium, my son & I will be there!! To really put this video in perspective, you should watch Sabaton History channel that tells you all about this battle. On a side note you will see the Bis referred to as a "he" when all other ships are referred to as a "she". Few different theories as to why.
