I was fortunate enough to meet Jerry around five years ago in a UK guitar store a few months before he suffered a stroke... it was the very day that I purchased a 1962 refinished Strat, and he played it. What a lovely, quiet, humble guy without a hint of ego. He let his fingers do all of the talking. Thanks for sharing this.

I first saw them at the Belly Up in Solana Beach in about 92......went back every time they came to town....Had a short conversation with Will and Jerry Super nice guys and very approachable. some of the best musical memories of my life hearing them live. "Inspector Gadget" was written on a limo ride from LA to SB and they played it first time live at that show. Will John Jerry Steve and Pat .......AWESOME !!!
You really have their TONE down.......Thank You for the Lesson

Great lesson. The Hellecasters had such a short career together but what a terrific library they left. The YT concert "Live in Germany" 1994 will keep any guitar player glued to the screen.

I love when seasoned Pro's cut an album, you can just hear the sophistication. Its beautiful and nothing is easy 😂

As an early owner of The Hellecasters full discography and as a big believer that nobody alive plays Gypsy Jazz like John Jorgensen, I stand by the fact that JOHN 5's (John William Lowery) early solo albums make The Hellecasters sound prostrate. Thanks David Brewster.

I don't really listen to them much these days but yeah, when Return first came out, I was 100% utterly blown away. Sure, there were all the shredders, many of which I loved, but hearing the Hellecasters for the first time felt like I was listening to people that could shred, but were sort of doing it in a less overtly showy manner and just sounded more mature overall. Tremendously blew me away.

Thanks David! Saw them live in a tiny club in Cork, Ireland in the depths of a freezing cold winter. Helped them pack their gear away too! Absolute legends and three of the best guitar albums ever recorded!

Been fan since I met them as session players in Nashville pre 1990. When they put that first album out in '91 I rushed to get it. Wore the CD out listening to it. This is great stuff!! Love that you covered this in a video. More please!

I vaguely remember them. Probably wrote them off due to the stupidity of youth, and never seriously checked them out. I'm assuming I thought Danny Gatton was king at the time, and in my haste dismissed anyone else playing a Tele, because, well, Danny Gatton. The harmonic choices here are extremely interesting, and I'm going to check them out right now. Thanks Dave. Another superb video.

Thanks David, this is awesome. I have a request for Jeff Lynne/ELO. ELO was not a guitar-based band, but had some great guitar songs like Showdown, Evil Woman, Fire on High, Poker, Do Ya, etc.
