Saw these guys at least twice during the early 90s. Great gigs. I used to work for Guitarist Magazine in the UK and they played at a couple of our events. I got to meet them afterwards and to a man they were great guys, very humble and friendly.
Bittersweet memories of the Hellecasters. Turned up for work one day with a Gibson Les Paul and they sacked me on the spot. Otherwise a great bunch o' guys.
Back sometime in the 90's. My good friend Pete Boss lead guitarist with the Elmores was playing at a tiny North Oxfordshire pub outside Banbury. The pub lounge was the size of an average English living room. Tiny and very intimate. As the band were ending their first set the door swung open and three guys walked in. The first was Jerry carrying his Telecaster. Followed by Dave Pegg (Fairport Convention) complete with bass guitar and the third carrying a pair of drum sticks was I think Doane Perry of Jethro Tull. They had come to jam with Pete. They started off with Crossroads it blew Pete's mind sharing the intimate stage with Jerry but he kept it together. After a couple of blues numbers Pete gave them the stage and Jerry blew us all away with his unique style. What a night. Has to be one of the highlights of sharing live music perhaps the greatest moment. And it was all for free too. I got to see the Hellecasters a couple of years later at a pre-Croperdy gig in Banbury and that too was awesome.
i'm so saddened for jerry donahue. These three are a huge influence on me picking a guitar every now and then. Thanks! They're Geniuses! Greets from Russia
@@monteanderson7181 Ive held it....couldn't do much else with it. Will Ray has "rings" for slide on his fingers. This was at NAMM many years ago in LA with Rick Turner, Terry Wollman, and WILL. LUNCH WAS GREAT!!1
Saw them live in Wales around 2009 Jerry was a lovely man at the interlude but the Hellecasters CD's I bought did not show them at their blistering live best
Jerry Donahue always played Fender in those days. He never got on the G&L bandwagon with the other two. Later they all got a Fender endorsement, then Will went back to G&L later when they gave him a signature model. John still plays that sparkle G&L to this day.

That's pretty damn funny.

Alll 3 led by John Jorgenson should be listed as the top guitarists in the country
Yep, say no more, Just "Helecasters"

How coulD I have missed these guys for 27 years is beyond me!
Don't feel bad. Just discovered them myself....
Same but far more than 27 years cool song
Hopefully you didn’t miss the true Tele master Gatton
Amazing...alt Hellcasters: Bill Kirchen and Albert Lee. In abstensia: Clarence White, Buck Owens, and Danny Gatton.
I met Jerry Donahue in '78 when he was in Joan Armatrading's band. Nice guy.
Is that one guy rocking with a G-bender?
That's Will Ray. He uses a B-bender (his signature model.)

I meant B…lol
That silver guitar is John's silver G&L asat? I found his signature model on Reverb.

Had the honor of playing with Will Ray a couple of times with a G&L Guitars fan group. Clearly the apex of my guitar story.
Wow.
Dang John was so young. And smoking.
Why do they only play telecasters ? Duh ask Jeff Beck.
Telecaster masters
thanks voor de upload
jeroen R - graag gedaan!
It looks like one of them is actually playing a Telecaster.
Correct , they were all endorsed by G&L at the time but Jerry Donahue ( right) is playing his tele on this gig. Not sure why..

OMG, YES!!!!!
Has Jerry passed away ????
Not that I’m aware of. Jerry did suffer a catastrophic stroke some years back and is unable to play the guitar as he used to do.
Sick.
these guys are gods
The guys are the gods gods.
Next song they start playing is "Bucket of Fish".
Love the old TV footage and promo stuff
Took 3 to do what Dan could do on his own. Very impressive though.
Sounds like some power rangers country rockabilly punk rock song and yes I like it. 😎😠😊
A touch of the shadows at the start of the tune, excellent guitarists. ❤️🎸.
I think of them as akin to The Traveling Wilburys
Mooi!
Johnny Bernhard : cadeautje voor jou! 🙂
@@thedesertroseband , bedankt. Groetjes Johnny
This is cool to watch Will is my guitar teacher 🙂🙂
I have a G&L Comanche removed the pick guard and has NAMM Willie Bogs was told he plays with the Hellcasters.
What genre of music is this called?
Hellecasterionics!🥰
Acid rock.
