I actually LOVE the hoppers a lot. On Switch, putting coffee beans into kegs is a little bugged and my fingers were getting sore trying to keg thousands of beans (I have carpal tunnel). But hoppers help so much, now I have them in every barn/coop and for coffee kegs
@Admiral Peach I find it to be a little awkward when I use Y to place things into kegs.. but if I set cursor over the item I want to place in keg and hold down A it rapidly collects the item from the keg and places the selected item into the keg. You may already be aware of this, but it works really well for me so I wanted to share!
I use them for bone mill and slime egg press. (Not that I use a ton of fertilizer, but it’s nice to have some for whenever I do remember.) Recycling machine is also a good idea.
It might also be worth noting that Galaxy Souls are also occasionally dropped by monsters in the mines in Pelican Town (with the difficulty shrine on). I managed to get three in a couple of attempts this way, with the luck buff from spicy eel!

i do the same methode to farm coal. with the elevator to floor 60, down to 61, kill all dust sprites, went back up and all over again. i get 200 coal per day

I used to do this trick to mine regular rock: go to floor 1, break only silver rocks, leave, repeat - simple trick to grind rocks especially in the early game. But use it to mine redioactive ore? Wow! This is so cool! I definitely must try it right now! This is soo clever!
@@FreddieStarWars yeah, but if you have upgraded pickaxe, with regular pickaxe you get 10 stones per 10 hits, so energy wise it's more profitable to hit silver rocks because depending on your mining level they can give you 1-4 rocks per 1 hit.
The hoppers would be SO much better if there was also some way to pull the finished items out of the machine. (I play on PC and was spoiled by the Automate mod.)
I got it in week 2 and after i complete the quest, it appears again. I say nope for the second quest because my stairs has been emptied by the first quest.
THIS!!!! 😢 It actually showed up my very first Monday with the the walnut room open, but I wasn't strong enough yet so did the other option. I'm now on Winter 1 of year 5 and yet again, No Luck! I'm about ready to start a whole new game I'm so frustrated cuz the radioactive ore and bar are the only things still needed for the ship one of everything challenge 😢 I'm on Mobile so no upgrade any time soon either
Thank u for this! Ive been wanting to get more radioactive ore, but I don’t really like going through those super challenging levels, especially the ones where i can get sick. This trick will be such a lifesaver!
One additional piece of advice. When cooking the Ginger Ale and Lucky Lunch, be sure to use Qi Spice to get greater luck buffs. Rather than the +1/+3 from normal food, you're now getting +2/+4, which is another +2 luck. At end game you should have plenty of Qi Gems. Using a full luck strategy: very lucky day from the fortune teller, two luck rings, +6 from food buffs, I've been able to get 210 radioactive or without needing the Qi Quest active for the mines. The other buff that helps a lot is the blessing from the dwarven statue that gives an additional +1 ore per node.
I recently found out how to use the hopper. See, most of the time it seems pointless, because you just run with a stack of items to your machines and it is convenient to not use hoppers. But you can deconsstruct tackles to get 2 iron of gold bars. this is super moneyefficient. But tackles don't stack. so you have much more inventory management when filling the deconstructors by hand. filling the tackles by hopper is an actual improvement.

Ezlily this is exactly what I needed. I spent 7 in game hours repeating floors 95-115 looking for ore, with a lucky ring and spicy eel on the best luck day, and only got 12 ores.
Hoppers with deconstructors is pretty good for deconstructing bobbers. Because bobbers only take one slots it prevents you needing to switch slots to insert them. If you are playing vanilla and making crystallariums, it makes getting gold bars much cheaper, since treasure bobbers deconstruct into 2 gold bars for 750 gold.
This works really well. I did it with two combined rings (lucky ring + iridium ore x2) a lucky lunch, ginger ale and the miners perk that gives +1 ore and it was the best possible luck day. I got 184 radioactive ore in a single day which is more than i’ll ever need. I just wanted every galaxy weapon.

Video is amazing! Working great in 1.6. Getting about 50 radioactive ore per day also helps to look for special monsters as they can drop qi gems and galaxy soul really helps to have good luck day
Wow, this is incredible! So it sounds like the record to beat is 205 ores from one trip. If I ever get rich enough to be able to afford lots of bombs and explosive ammo, I'll try it. The one thing that *might* be more productive is going down to the lower floors. True it takes more time to run to a ladder to get there, but a post from someone who looked into the code said that there's a higher chance of finding more nodes the lower you go. So it might be worth the extra time if it produced more nodes on one floor.
I tried your level 1 strat. It's awesome. Previously I always went to level 110 and thus 111. Too much running around and also the need to fight. The big thing as stated, a best luck day is key. Also, levels with a "5" can never have radioactive ore, so elevator hopping is no good. This from looking at the Stardew source code.
Video like this shows me how much I still have to discover in the game, I did not know about a lot of the things explained in it. I stopped the video a quarter of the way in before I got too many spoilers. This is not a criticism against spoilers, I would not watch those videos if I did not want to get them, but just learning that there is radio-active ore is spoiler enough for me now, I'll come back when I want or need to know more.
I absolutely love my quad magnet ring set. I swap them in combat for burglars/savage combo, but nothing tops quad magnetism for efficient slingshot mining.

Actually if you get a profession the effect applies the day after, I had it with switching farmer professions as well. When I selected Artistian the same night I sold stuff it did not apply, however it did apply the next day. However I tested this Blacksmith profession with Radioactive ores as well and it does not apply, so no extra cash here, but considering it to be an late game item I think there are better ways to make money or you have made already enough ;)
What I do is a set up a bunch of furnaces in the mines with a mini shipping bin next to them and sell all my radioactive bars in the mines without having to go all the way to my farm to sell. Also get a junimo chest as well with all your mining equipment.
I've experienced a bug in my Stardew Valley World after I unlocked Ginger Island, all of my magnet rings or food buff that give magnet doesn't seem to work anymore no matter what I do. 😢😢😢
You could just go to lvl 100 then use the pre spawned ladder also in single player time pauses in menus so clicking on the ladder and it asking "are you sure you want to leave the mines?" Would pause the game helping optimise your day
if you sell the bars the day you switch profession, you won't get the extra 50% profit from blacksmith profession. i think that's the reason you get 3000g instead of 4500g.
I just put all my fast-processing machines in the mine entrance, let those resources stockpile until I have enough to spend a day doing busybox work, and cycle through the first level while they cook. Hoppers kinda help here, as it de-clutters your inventory of all the various bits and bobs. I don't stress over luck days, bombs, or food buffs, but it sure is cool to see how much more efficient the process can get.
@@ezlilyy Not nearly the haul you've pulled in! Been a while, but I think I was getting around one ore node every 4 peeks down the ladder. Mostly I'm just trying to stay busy while my coffee brews and copper smelts.
Was this nerfed or something? I'm doing it on a great luck day, 2 lucky rings, the lucky wallet item, the magical rock candy, and gold quality ginger ale, and I have yet to get more than 100 ore in a day.

It speeds up if you play close to optimally. If you're solo then make sure you have as many sprinklers as possible. A deluxe barn full of pigs will help a lot mid game. The green house helps a lot early game. Sheds full of garden pots helps mid game. Ginger island farm helps a lot late game. The community center helps guide you towards a goal early game. There's a point when you'll think you've run out of things to do until you complete certain quests and unlock certain things.
I'm playing modded with the stardew valley expanded mod and there you can just put some radioactive bass (caught in sewer, fishing lvl 10 required) in some fish ponds :D They generate lots of radioactive ore/bars

Well I don't even have 1.5 On Android I Am Closer to getting End game On It As I have Already Done Community Center and Abandoned Joja Mart and Got a Wife and Is in process of filling My Greenhouse With Ancient fruit So I think by year 4 I would have Done the golden clock and Four Oblisk If not by year 5. That's only 2 Weeks of Gameplay Left for me. Rest is Just Decoration and Achievements which Would be Tedious and Townspeople Relationship is the only thing left to do Majorly buts it's not in my interest
The BEST use for hoppers is to fill deconstructions. I fill my hoppers with Grass Starter for Fibre, Staircases for Stone, and Treasure Bobbers for gold ingots. Other than that I consider hoppers useless.
If they would add a device to COLLECT an item from a crafting bench... the hopper would have a MUCH greater value.. load hopper > item refines on its natural timer > grabber pulls the item from the device and hopper loads it again... Also, for the love of god!! Let us harvest crops with the scythe on the switch!! Large scale crop harvesting is absolutely miserable without the right click trick PC is using and mods on switch is no easy or safe task...
Best way I’ve found to harvest on Switch is hold down the button and walk left to right, hitting 3 rows at a time. (Right to left is a bit slower, and vertical only seems to ever hit 2 columns at a time.)
@@emurphy42 I've also noticed that left to right harvesting is a bit faster and other directions are definitely clunky or wonky.. scythe harvesting should just be a thing...an auto seed planter that attaches to sprinkler would also be cool? Ultimately I find these small poor quality of life things (that aren't an issue on pc due to community mods) being a real downer for my continued play on the switch...
Obviously it has a limited time of 7 days to do it on, but I would recommend mass resetting the dangerous skull caverns floor 1 instead with max daily luck because there will be a higher spawn rate there
Or you can make it permanent, at the end of the quest at floor 120 it says come back tomorrow, if you do you can keep these mines instead of it resetting back to normal. So then you can constantly farm them

I use them to deconstruct stairs i bought with jades, so i can just press the mouse button and get 99 stone per in game hour
I use them to deconstruct fishing lures, since they don't stack.
I set up 4 recycle bins where it does it automatically just load up trash in it bin and your good also a few auto oil n wool hoppers ;)

The radioactive bars didn't sell for more because you got the profession the same night you sold it. Professions don't take affect until the next day.

Great guide, farmed 160 ores with lucky day + luck food/drink and only one iridium band. No bomb, no slingshot.

Every time I leave and go back into the first floor it takes quite a bit of tries before it actually changes. It just keeps staying the same

You have to finish QI's quest "Danger in The Deep" so you can unlock it

Well I don't even have 1.5 On Android I Am Closer to getting End game On It As I have Already Done Community Center and Abandoned Joja Mart and Got a Wife and Is in process of filling My Greenhouse With Ancient fruit So I think by year 4 I would have Done the golden clock and Four Oblisk If not by year 5. That's only 2 Weeks of Gameplay Left for me. Rest is Just Decoration and Achievements which Would be Tedious and Townspeople Relationship is the only thing left to do Majorly buts it's not in my interest

The BEST use for hoppers is to fill deconstructions.
I fill my hoppers with Grass Starter for Fibre, Staircases for Stone, and Treasure Bobbers for gold ingots.
Other than that I consider hoppers useless.
I cheated to get down the mines quicker to complete the danger in the deep quest. I used staircases 😅
unfortunately it doesn't work with multiplayer

If they would add a device to COLLECT an item from a crafting bench... the hopper would have a MUCH greater value.. load hopper > item refines on its natural timer > grabber pulls the item from the device and hopper loads it again...
Also, for the love of god!! Let us harvest crops with the scythe on the switch!! Large scale crop harvesting is absolutely miserable without the right click trick PC is using and mods on switch is no easy or safe task...

Even if we have to craft another machine to do the collecting, it would definitely be worth it in my opinion
Best way I’ve found to harvest on Switch is hold down the button and walk left to right, hitting 3 rows at a time. (Right to left is a bit slower, and vertical only seems to ever hit 2 columns at a time.)

@@emurphy42 I've also noticed that left to right harvesting is a bit faster and other directions are definitely clunky or wonky.. scythe harvesting should just be a thing...an auto seed planter that attaches to sprinkler would also be cool?
Ultimately I find these small poor quality of life things (that aren't an issue on pc due to community mods) being a real downer for my continued play on the switch...
Obviously it has a limited time of 7 days to do it on, but I would recommend mass resetting the dangerous skull caverns floor 1 instead with max daily luck because there will be a higher spawn rate there
Or you can make it permanent, at the end of the quest at floor 120 it says come back tomorrow, if you do you can keep these mines instead of it resetting back to normal. So then you can constantly farm them
