And why not? After all, the $1k deposit is fully refundable - something you neglect to mention here. And that’s pretty much the same model for many EVs around AU.
Seems like reviewers consistently miss a major difference when comparing Xpeng's pricing to Tesla's. My understanding (and it's possible I'm missing nuance as to whether this applies to all models) is Xpeng cars come with their FSD included in the price, whereas for Tesla that costs roughly $8K to add. Granted, outside of China, Xpeng is new and it will take about 6-12 months to update their cars in the Europe and Australia to the level of FSD now in China, but, they will, and what would be an $8K feature in a Tesla is a major value added at no cost.
Drove a XPeng G6 today, very impressed. Like the Euro LH side indicators. To me it drive like a VW, not soft and bouncy like a BYD. The finish is superb, the self parking impressive. Tesla and the other makes are in a lot of trouble. It makes a Kia EV6 look old. Different classes of course. The boot is big enough for me, the back seat leg room plenty.
800 volt, It doesn't mean it charge faster.....yes it does We have G6 i Europe and it does charge faster, very much faster, starts on 285 Kw and 20 minutes gives 63 Kw from 10% so the 20 minutes from 10-80% is no problem on the long range. The assistent driving systems is not up to standard.
I drove the Xpeng G6 for a week in China recently. I have also driven a month in a Tesla Y. The Xpeng is nice but not as refined as the Tesla. The self steering was scary in corners and around obstacles... And on one occasion it made a terrifying wrong lane decision at 120kmh. G6 does have a nice self lane change and highway mode. Review video to come.
Xpeng is not launching this directly. Xpeng is distributed by some start-up called TrueEV they're not selling direct. So TrueEV is importing this and launching this without a price.
Thanks for the informative video. I’m from Egypt, I’m surprised that model y and G6 both have the same price in Australia !!!!, AWD G6 is at least $6K cheaper than AWD model y in Egypt!!!!. Pretty much similar to Egypt, it gets pretty warm and sunny in Australia; are panoramic roofs without shades a good idea? or do I have to install a shade?
There is an efficient polarized glass, it manage temperature very well, noone notice any problem about this... Xpeng should make a variant with adaptable transparency as many other worse Chinese brands do ...
The place to go for cancer treatment is Japan. They have great experience with Hydrogen treatments. Both fighting cancer and softening side effects of chemo.
Some poor facts: in Germany, 9.6 million general inspections of passenger cars have been evaluated by the Technical Inspection Agency. The ranking of 2 to 3 year old cars includes 128 vehicle models. With a defect rate of 10.7 percent, every tenth Tesla Model S fails the first main inspection and would also be in the last third of the 128 combustion vehicles. Bringing up the rear of all models evaluated in this class is the Tesla Model 3 (111th place, defect rate 14.7%). Only the Dacia Duster / Logan would rank behind the Tesla. In addition to defects in the fog lights and dipped headlights, the Model S is particularly troubled by problems with the wishbones. Other opinions are subjective or neglect safety standards. Of course, it is absolutely right to first analyze a few years of practical operation, newer successor models of a manufacturer can only be better. The Chinese try to bridge this time gap with a very long warranty period.
I test drove the XPeng G6 LR yesterday. It is a great car but the boot is a lot smaller than the one on a Model Y. There is also no frunk. Really a missed chance. I am waiting to see the Model Y Juniper.
Very compelling! I'm just concerned how many of these Chinese EVs are coming in via 3rd party importers, seemingly newly established companies without much of a reputation. There's a real likelihood some of them will go under or change partners over the years, even if the OEM continues to go strong. How can buyers be assured of serviceability incl. availabily of parts over the life of the vehicle?
Need robust spare parts logistic. BTW in China people buy the one with the most spare parts support locally, so you will see more Tesla in Shanghai, BYD in Guangdong.
If Aussies were driving on the right side of the road like China there would already be a Tsunami of brands and models being imported by traders. Export of vehicles by Third Parties is booming now from China.
They can say what ever but model y as proven to be a very good car and mainly its the charging network that's most important not the 0 to 100 or the horsepower so the g6 needs to proven so let people with lots of money purchase those g6 and drive them to see how they last in time!
I did make some enquiries with Xpeng, both models will come with the option of a towpack on launch... they still won't tell me price though! Think I'll wait before I lay down $1000 I have to agree Sam
You underestimate the appeal of a Tesla model Y made by a company not headed by Elon Musk. I can’t even look at Tesla because of what that guy is vocal about. I wish he just shut up. Good play by Xpeng. Their tag line should be “A model Y without Musk” 😂
Suzuki announced that one of their factories in Gujarat, India will start manufacturing its first BEV from Nov 2024. The EVX is an SUV, mostly intended for European market. Suzuki manufactures about 3 million vehicles globally each year, of which 2 million are made in India. BEV manufacturing target for FY2025 is about 100,000.
What is the charging standard in Australia? How much different is this from NACS? What is the reliability of the general Charging system in AUS vs Tesla in the US? I feel perfectly safe to take my Tesla anywhere in the US? I don't feel that other EV's can do this if they are not on NACS in the US. So can you do something on the charging infrastructure in AUS? If you have done this already, how do I find it?
I would love to be able to put down a down payment on an Xpeng but can't because we have 100% tariffs to protect our lazy overpaid union workers and bad auto company management. The Xpeng G6 specs are better than the model Y. The model Y, has still only has one screen, older tech and pretty boring.
G6 is still in preorder for Europe too, it should land end july, start august, to testdrive then preorders should be delivered end august/september for the first preorders frm May month.
Dear me that’s absolutely dreadful about your wife🙏I done agree with a lot of your opinions on e Ev’s but only wish you and your family the best for the future
I really don't see the problem w/the instrument cluster not being directly in front of the driver. The Prius has been that way FOREVER and no one has sad ANYTHING about it. We have a 2012 Prius and we are replacing it w/a Model Y. It shouldn't be an issue.
Xpeng won't go there cuz very soon Brazil is increasing tariffs on imported EVs so encourage localisation, Mexico might follow, BYD Changan Geely GWM, DFSK, Chery have money to build factories overseas but start ups like Nio, Xpeng don't have that money yet
Tesla is in serious trouble in China. Tesla Q2 deliveries in China -50% YoY before the last week. Basically the same, even they break the delivery record. If leaked 18 800 in last week is true, 47% down YoY, still. Q2 in Europe is not much better for Tesla with 34% slump on sales in May.
Tesla was naive to focus on the West its that simple because he was always going to be betrayed by countries utterly run and dominated politically by Big Oil, Evs had no chance, not because they are bad, not because they don't work, not because they are dangerous, but because Big Oil has spent billions on misinformation campaigns sabotaged the infrastructure development to ensure its barely operable and basically done all it can to trash them. By contrast China which is almost 50% EV has some seriously beautiful cars, clean, sustainable and a network of charging and infrastructure for them that's nationwide and easy to access at all times. Musk is the dumbest smart guy ever, its going to be the same with AI and the same with autodriving cars, he will be hampered and held back at every turn by Western groups, lobbys and Big Corporates who dont want the changes from their ways. China by contrast is going to be flowing openly in all aspects of change.
Standard practice in China and if you are serious about buying the car you should already know the price range and if you know the brand you know it will be highly competitive. The deposit is also fully refundable if you decide not to buy but its very simple that's how it is done in China because its more efficient it gives you a good idea of how many serious buyers you have, based on what the general conversion % is which allows them to ensure they have the right target number in play from the start. Its just helping the company which has to ship a serious number of cars, get the right starting order into the salesroom floors day one. Its good business and if you don't have 1000 for a deposit you aren't a serious buyer for that car anyway, you are a window shopper. The deposit is for those who really know they want one. There's nothing wrong with it at all, its done in everything in China from cars to gym subscriptions when a Gym is due to open, same thing, pay 100 or 200 and then you get it slightly cheaper if you decide to buy. It helps not over or under sell.
That’s a lot of words to say “the conpany can then go bust overnight and nobody will see any deposit money back” Which is also standard practice in China…
@@G_de_Coligny Again, typical Western answer, always living in the worst case scenario. First of all you would get your money back because by law the company would be forced to pay and the owner or shareholders would be stripped of their gains to pay for it, if that wasn't clear with the Evergrande ruling which ordered the company to complete every single commitment which its now well under way to do, the owners and shareholders wont be seeing a penny unless that's finished. Second you are claiming now that instead of it just being because they didn't give a price NOW its because they will go bust and steal your deposit? Paranoid much, any other ridiculous answer you want to throw in, maybe a comet will strike them. Xpeng is a huge brand and wont be going bust. And they WOULD be obligated to repay deposits no matter what Western stupidity thinks. China never favors corrupt business. The public are always protected in the end.

Things are changing very quickly! Which mistake was done at 120km/h? Did Xpeng Motors staff analyse this situation accurately?
Hi Sam totally agree, crazy to release a new brand, hype then don’t tell potential customers a price guide leaving everyone to guesstimate- 🤪
Prices in NL for the xpeng G6
RWD, standard range: €42,900
RWD, long range: €47,900
AWD, performance:€51,990
So, slightly under the model-Y prices.
Is it correct that those prices also include Xpeng's full FSD package (I realize not all of that is turned on just yet in Europe)?

But way better. Those who consider buying a G6 should also try the G9: has currently the best price to quality ratio.

Correction. The G6 has not yet started selling in Europe. It's the G9, and it's doing really well in its market segment.

Good point about the sunroof shade. I have a BYD Atto 3 and could not drive without a hat if I didn't have the shade blind. A necessity in my view.
