You never actually "Sink" any of the ships besides the patrol boats. If you look at it you just destroy their aluminium superstructures and the exposed weapons. You can still see their hulls floating around.

I know some have commented that it seems out of character for Torres, assuming that was him in the video, to abandon ship like that given how he was credited with safely evacuating the Tanager’s crew. But it actually made me think...what if Torres’ reputation as the Hero of Comberth Harbor was all a lie?
Think about it, all we know about his heroics during Operation Rough Seas is that Erusea claimed he saved the crew of the Tanager. And it’s very likely they embellished a lot of details since they needed a propaganda win to bolster morale back home after losing the Aegir Fleet. It could have been the Tanager’s XO or another officer that led the evacuation but ended up going down with the ship. Thus, Torres ended up getting all the credit so that Erusea could have a living war hero to prop up.
It could actually explain in part why Torres went insane. He knows his reputation is a lie, and became obsessed with proving he wasn’t a fraud but actually earned his title.

This mission was my first ever S rank in an ace combat game, and I remember getting it in the Mirage 2000 by playing what I call: Hunt the Erusean Los Angeles class submarine with an Exocet, because I literally spent a good 5 minutes of this mission just flying about, setting up my attack run on a submarine, yeeting a missile at it (or 2 if I was down just to my Magics), pulling up and praying to see that "Target Destroyed" pop up.
Because of this, I was able to enjoy the rest of the game as an F/A-18C pilot (in which I used my Harpoons on regular ground targets in Tango Line) and purchase Mobius One's signature plane as soon as I finished mission 16.
Also the first time I played Invincible Fleet I either had to go do something else so I exited the game or I died and had to restart it the next day. The second time I played it, I had learned the name of the captain of the Tanager. And immediately gunned for the Tanager, because you know what Torres? Fuck you. There is another possibility that we could consider here though - whilst Torres commanded the Tanager, someone had to be in charge of the armada. Usually this job would have gone to an Admiral, yet Torres was only a Captain during the Continental War. However, since Admirals usually stay on bigger and stronger ‘Command’ ships (ex.: Battleship Yamato during the Battle of Midway), we can assume that this was actually an unnamed Admiral who cowardly fled the scene!
