As a life-long Batman-obsessed crazy person, I was skeptical when I heard that they were going to do a Joker origin story. I knew it had to be either tragic or pants-shittingly terrifying. This looks like it's going to be both. I haven't been this excited for a movie in a very long time.

It's extraordinary to see Arthur initially go from terrible posture and nonexistent confidence, to wonderful posture and a significant amount of confidence with the Joker persona! Plus he FINALLY genuinely smiles for real at the end in the elevator. Brilliant!

first one ive seen point that out. such a shift causes a personality change, body launguage completely changes, you walk differently, talk differently. i wonder if he walks a tight rope pattern?
youd be surprised that dancing can result, much like moving around in bed finding the good spots, getting comfortable in the reborn meat suit. the scene where the music kicks up while hes running through the tunnel, that music is the only way to express what its like to suddenly see the spaces inbetween the spaces. once you see its beauty its too much to take, beauty so profound it puts you on your kness, and heart felt laughter you never knew could exist. pure nirvana. ive been there, i tear up remembering.
This definitely looks like the darkest joker in film so far.

I dont know if its true but some said that this film is a Hard R in ratings. The dark theme will be splashed with more bloody scenes I think since its Joker. So yeah... I dunno if I should looking forward to this. On one side I like it as a movie. But we all know some people relate too well with certain things. I hope there will be no one who plays Joker Irl like last time during dark knight.
@@saltylemonz258 Unfortunately there are those who can't separate fiction from real life. I will say movies look and feel so real these days it is scary. I was actually traumatized when i was younger from watching a scene in a movie because of how real the actors reaction was to what was happening to him. (Don't want to say the title because there could be some young kid reading this and decide to look it up on here) but yea my friend. Hopefully nothing bad comes from this, because it does genuinely look like a good film.
Give Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar already..He is a phenomenal actor.

Definitely feel the Scorsese vibe in the cinematography. I hope this is as dark, while grounded in reality, as possible and not overshadowed by some grand personal tragedy.

Do we need a new Joker again? This question was probably asked by many when the Origin Story by Todd Phillips was announced. But Joaquin Phoenix erases all doubts in the first trailer. I predict an Oscar Nomination Best Actor in a leading Role.
And hopefully a win. Which would be the first time is history an Oscar was won by two actors, in two films, playing the SAME ROLE.
If Joker doesn’t win an academy award I have no faith in the entertainment world anymore!
The craziest thing for me about this trailer was a joke he wrote: "The worse thing about having a mental illness is that people expect you to behave as if you don't..."
his makeup reminds me of John Wayne Gacy, which makes this even more creepier.

Oh and props for using "Smile" by the way. There's a fun sort of parallel there with taking Charlie Chaplin's (he wrote the song) timid presence and showing the devolution in just a couple minutes.

No trailer has ever brought a tear and a chill to my body. Then, there was Joker.
That shot of him dancing before he goes on stage makes me think that something really dark is going to go down in this scene...
"you laughin' at me? are you laughin' at me?"
I love how dark and grimy this looks. They truly couldn't have picked a better person to play this role. Jack Nicholsons Joker is the one that I grew up with and will always be my favorite and of course Heath Ledger's Joker was not only brilliant but also heartbreaking so he is definitely in a close second. And I truly believe even by just watching the trailer that Joaquin Phoenix will rightfully round out my top three. Another JOKER will win a OSCAR! I love the little Bruce tease they put in there and the small jump/pose that he did when going down the stairs is a classic Joker mannerism. I'm here for it!!! And with it being 2019 mental illness is something that still people don't want to talk about but it very much needs to be a discussion. If anybody is shocked that depression had anything to do with the Joker being who he was, wasn't really paying attention. Any great story takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and I believe that this movie will do just that. We will feel sorry for him, we will understand, we will eventually fear Him, as he turns into the villain we know. Wow wow wow... I'M PUMPED!

I'm calling it right now. The ending of this movie is gonna be the talk show scene. The graphic novel of The Dark Knight Returns has The Joker appearing on a talk show like Letterman and killing the whole audience. The end will be him pulling that off.

I'm seeing this for sure!! I was kinda tired of seeing Joker everywhere, but this looks new, unique and has fuckin' Joaquin Phoenix!! He can be very intense in his acting. I wasn't sure at first, but seeing as he dropped some 20-30 lbs, his face looks the part.

I heard about this movie months ago, and thoughts of Suicide Squad entered my head. I thought, "Not ANOTHER attempt at the Joker, so soon after that godawful movie!" and I quickly forgot about it. Cut to April 3rd, when the trailer was first released. I've watched it at least 30 times now, and numerous reaction videos. Aside from WWAM, and a couple of other RUclips channels, I tend to stay away from reaction videos.
Maybe it's the fact that this is an extremely well-made trailer, combined with the fact that this movie completely subverted any expectations I had, but I am now obsessed with Joker. October can't get here soon enough!

It's a mash of Joel Schumacher 1993 movie called Fallen down A middle-aged man dealing with both unemployment and divorce, William Foster (Michael Douglas) is having a bad day. This joker movie is also a mix Martin scorsese movie Kings of comedy and Taxi driver. Watch those movies.
This movie has it's own thing. If you wasn't looking at it like at comic book it be like... What would happen if Mr.Rogers was alive and flips out and played all of us into believing he was just acting not to be a dark person. An all it took was the cancellation of his shows and funding for kids, then boom real life joker. Then you can say The joker (Mr. rogers) couldn't put a smile on his face so he had to paint one on.

Look Chance, we love Marvel. All were saying is that we have 100 Marvel movies. DC shouldn't be trying to make Marvel movies and using the same formula. Marvel themselves are going to have to start swtiching it up a bit before long. Its been a legendary run but after Infinity War its going to be hard to keep doing the same thing and keep the same numbers. Especially with some of the heavy hitters gone.

Excellent review, guys! :) I like how the director used Chaplin's "Smile" sung by Durante, and then gradually the music became more distorted as the Joker spiraled downward into his abysmal despondency. One could feel both the pathos and hopelessness of his situation, as well as empathize with his reasons for retaliation towards his enemies. Well-thought out backstory, and sort of reminded me a "lite" Quentin Tarantino film, D.C-style.

We watch the movie I'm glad you guys saw the Joker trailer now if you guys haven't seen the Cobra Kai trailer season two make a reaction I wouldn't mind seeing trust me looks awesome guys. I’m so stoked for this! At this point comic book movies have been done to death, and it always feels like it’s the same characters over and over again. This feels like a completely different take. More of a sad story about a man who completely goes completely insane and becomes nuttier than squirrel shit!

Now this how you do Joker right and not Leto's Joker who looks like one of his henchmen who wants to be The Joker. Not sure about you but I believe this Joker with Joaquin Phoenix will be equally great in the role along with Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson and Mark Hamill

Malcolm McDowell would have made a great Joker in his Clockwork Orange day’s..Imagine an Alex De Large psychopath version of the Joker!!! Maybe he was a proto-Joker in a way Ledger used that as a point of reference for his take on the Joker...they NEED TO MAKE UNDER THR RED HOOD!!! That could be a reason to bring Phenix back if this is a hit

Great thing about this movie...It lacks a lot of special effects which means that the characters are more developed!!! The movie doesn't have to be dependent on the SFX. Another thing great about this movie other than the actual content it was made for only about 55 million dollars! Avengers and such are 200+ million. I hope this is an epic Blockbuster so DC will do more like this with other great characters and make their characters what they truly are DARK!
