Hey John! Just acquired a quad 6 myself! And I am going to be putting it mobile, using a 3 axis mount on the rear hatch door on my Mountaineer, with a nmo mount base loaded antenna. Hope to chat on the air with you! 73s from 0576, Dustmaker, in Southern Michigan!
For future reference, if you throw a coat of opaque paint on that Plexiglas, it will last forever. UV rays from the sun is the enemy of polymers and elastomers so any time that you can shield them, it's a plus.
Thanks Steve, I already had a lot of respect for you, But now that I know you have a Cherokee, You are way up there on my list of people I like. Take care 483, 73's
Funny I have the 102" whip on the front Bull bar. If I hit a low tree branch at speed the whip smacks the roof of my car. I have an old ute (pickup), so not to worried about scratches.
One of the biggest problems with modern cars is fuel pump whine. Most noise blankers won't take it out. I've never tested my Patriots for it, but even though they feature coil-over-plug ignition they still have ignition noise.
Hello Mr. Mower Junkie, your signal report video from today is on my channel, I heard you here on Northern Germany on the Baltic Sea coast with 5/9 and made a video. 73s
If anyone could make a cb that fit the din slot nice, with ssb/am cb, and am,fm, and wx recieve, it could be Anytone. I like broadcast radio too much, but i would do the swap, if one existed. Channel buttons on the mic, for now 👍 Nice, clean install, when the radio brings it's own watts. Them heatsinks are sharp!!! poor li'l Lincoln.
Cool install that. Just a bit of a caution, the internal SWR meter is way off, under reads by a significant margin, I have tested it with a good external SWR meter.
I have a video of this radio getting over 225 + degrees hot and was still working with no antenna plugged in for 5 minutes So stop worrying people heat will not kill it
Looks good John! I’m back to running a Yaesu FT-100D in the mobile. They are good old 100 watt rigs with a remote faceplate. 73! 497 on Lake Murray 😎
Sweet, the problem with modern vehicles is that there is no where to mount CB's....So clever Idea about the AC vent holes from the AC....
Awesome setup mower junkie, like a man that thinks out of the box. Hats off to you sir. Learn a lot from watching you and your wife Barbara. Thanks 😊
Good looking install. Love the idea of routing air flow around the back of the rig.
Very nice. My 6666 has the best ears of all my radios .
Looks good ,had my Quad 6 in my vehicle for the past 4 years works great.
1.0 = ♡
Thank you.
Hi Barbara

Looking good my friend, BUT LOL get some rubber screw covers to hide screw heads.
All the best from across the pond. :-)
Nice setup. Wish I could do that in my 2018 Frontier!
nice set up!
The ANL/NB blanker I find works well. I haven't tried it with it off because it is in the car.
Looks awesome John!
Very cool. Dig your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Good looking radio. One day I'll get my Cherokee back on the road. ✌✌

Your car radio doesn't have the noise so maybe figure out why that is and then do the same thing.

President McKinley AM/SSB
I’m thinking About getting one of those Anytone
nice job and video ! what is the height on that antenna? do you hit any low bridges?
Cool install that. Just a bit of a caution, the internal SWR meter is way off, under reads by a significant margin, I have tested it with a good external SWR meter.
every radio is different, I have compared this one to 2 antenna analyzers, and the radios SWR meter is very accurate.
Where does the McKinley live?
I gave the McKinley to my neighbor, He's really been enjoying it.
nice install, and radio, but what is the orange cord coming out of the left side of the radio?
have a great day
Thanks. The orange wire is the power wires for the radio.
What kinda distance do you get between two 60 watt radios? What mobile antenna do you use?
I have a video of this radio getting over 225 + degrees hot and was still working with no antenna plugged in for 5 minutes So stop worrying people heat will not kill it
Why?
What kind of antenna is on the garage?
It's a Tram 1498, with 4 48" firestick antennas as the ground plane.
102 inch whip can talk over 100 miles. Look into HF skip.
I hope we are given the chance of data burst / packet , the same as GMRS Packet .
John. What about in the winter when you have the heater on?
I've owned this Jeep for the past 9 years, and the heat has never worked. I live in the south, A/C is more important than heat.
