One of the best Cheap, Off brand, Off road "basher" RC cars ever!! ... had mine for the last 18 months and love it dearly. Only issue I ever had was the forward diff drive shaft (From the centre drive) came loose and lost drive to the front...easy fix and no harm done...
It's cheap, Parts are easy to get and really cheap... it's easy to modify.. and to clean lol... though...
Word of warning...IT'S NOT WATERPROOF!!! don't go dunking this little guy in deep puddles...!
Two "Must Do" mods: Oil filled shocks!!!!.. and a ZOP Power 2200mah 35C LiPo.. gives a lot more run time and a LOT more speed!

Ur the reason I got the wltoys 12428. Since then I've had to replace the combo esc receiver 3 times so then i put a axial esc a flysky receiver an a 27t servo and a all metal rear differential.
You should make a series about upgrading the hell out of that dirt cheap rc

I'm running brushless set up and 3s 1300 Lipo.locked rear metal diff.waiting on metal front diff.locking it to..stock plastic stuff is junk..

I believe the latest ones come with front and rear metal gears. I can confirm the rear diff is metal!
Came in a windowless box.
@@Aarons14bugs Yes you are right, the ones that come with non window box have metal diffs. I ordered 12429 some days ago, really hope it has metal diffs, as it is advertised as the newer version.

Dont forget to order a metal Drive shaft though! That's been the only break I've had with mine. Original broke running 2s but the metal upgrade replacement is doing fine.

Id say its more of a rock racer, they usually have a solid rear axle & independent front suspension & geared for speed more then a crawler.
I do enjoy using mine a lot. I am now going to get another crawler this week. Thanks!

I bought my son one of those and the remote is funny you can push the steering wheel to the other side of the remote to make it right or left handed its funky never seen another one like it

may you disassemble the rear axle of Wltoys 12428 and watch there, if it
has metal gears or not? A few guys from discussions claim, that the latest versions od Wltoys 12428 have metal gears in diffs. Many of us are curious about that.

Hi I know this is an old post but mine came with metal diffs from the factory. I was curious too so I disassembled the diffs to look and to my great delight they were metal !!!

Thanks to this review that you posted a couple of months ago I ordered one of these and got it just last week. I have to say, I love it. One good thing about it is that you can adjust the power from the controller so I could turn it down to teach my 4yo daughter how to control it without it going crazy.

Dear kevin, im a 13 year old kid looking for a good traxxas car for a good price, i want to buy the traxxas slash 2wd do you think that is a good idea? And do you think that i should buy extra parts, if yes what parts,

I don't think Kevin will see this so I'll reply for him.
Firstly, though I only have the Skully and slash 4x4 I think that the 2wd slash is a great choice. It is simpler and lighter than a 4x4 and will still perform well on road and off road.
As for upgrades if you want to save some money get the brushed version and buy a 60 amp goolrc esc and 4300kv motor combo. It's the same as the one I use in my Traxxas Skully and only costs about £25. If you upgrade to brushless or buy a brushless version get some metal drive shafts. GPM racing steel drive shafts have worked well for me in my Traxxas Skully. Some aluminium parts like stub axle carriers may be needed if you crash a lot. I have videos of my Skully on my channel if you want to see how the Goolrc motor and esc performs. Hope this helps!

the expensive rc car has metal chassis and the metal are not flexible but the wltoys 12428 has the most bending flexibleity and strong

Hi Kevin Talbot would you recommend a rustler 2wd? In trying to decide between the wl10428 and rustler 2wd
personally i don't get on this anything 2wd. if you like 2wd then the rustler is an epic bit of kit
