i think the cheap tires had the advantage of being fresh out the package, because then they still have the "new rubber grip" i think, once the tires get some dirt on them, even if you wash it of, the grip always suffers so the trx4 stock tires had this small disadvantage already
I disagree. New out of the box tires have a nonstick coating that needs to wear off to get max grip. The coating is a release agent to get the tire out of the mold and keep it from sticking
I disagree. I have owned 8 sets of canyon trails. I love other tires more but they are always my go to tire. The more you use them the softer they get. The softer they get, the more grip.

Exocaged RC did a comparison between cheapo clone Hyrax tires and a set of actual Proline Hyrax tires. The clones did pretty much the same but the tread on them was chaffed and peeling. The thing is, you'd probably go through about 4 sets of knockoffs because they are a softer compound than the quality tires made of a stiffer compound. Personally, regardless of how the cheapos do, I'd still prefer quality. In the long run, you'd spend more on the cheapos by replacing them constantly than to just buy the quality sets.
They are real good for the $! austar also makes ones that are copies of the proline hyrax tires I use em on my gen 8 and they work real good for the $ also. Put a thin coat of WD40 on your tires they will really get more grip!
Those cheaper ones looks much more grippier from the box but they might get dry much faster, dunno time will tell. Rc buz has shown many times the cheaper one is not allways crappier. Kev you need to do more vids like this.
Hey Kev ! Try to wash your trx4 tires and other tires before comparing them indoor with fresh new tires. Used tires have a little dust layer that make them less griping that usualy. So it's normal that the super swampers sticks/grips better ! ;) However they have better knobs for side attack !

Larger scale? Most crawlers are 1/10 scale but there is a 1/8 scale variant that is really good and reviewed by RC Sparks. Traction Hobby Cragsman. Very nice RC but about the same cost as the Traxxas UDR. As far as 1/10 scale goes, by far the best crawlers $500 or less are the Axial SCX10 ll and the Traxxas TRX4, runners up are the Redcat Gen 8 and the newest Axial SCX10 lll. SCX10 ll is about $399 and the TRX4, depending on model can be between $350 and $499 unless you get the TRX4 with tracks or the 6x6 TRX6 and they are 540ish for the tracked TRX4 and 630ish for the 6x6. I personally have the TRX4 Bronco and I love the scale appearance as well as performance. My buddy has the SCX10 ll and it can outperform my TRX4 at times because it is lighter by about 2 pounds. You really can't go wrong with pretty much any crawler out there right now, but those are my highest recommendations.
