So im building my own low center of gravity crawler/rock bouncer/ultra 4 rig. I bought some raminator axles, suspension arms, and made some of my own coilover components so the scale is right. Cant have humongous coilovers it wouldnt look right. Ive got it done though. Even machined my own functional piggyback system that actually works really well and is fully adjustable. I bent up the springs myself and heat treated them, the rates should be dead on considering the weight. I made my own tube chassis out of 1/4 inch chromoly bar stock. Completely TIG welded. Its coming along and the giant motors, yes, 2, and 2 of basically everything else along with the size, geometry, and weight the thing is gonna be really really cool. Im putting the raminator mega truck wheels and tires on it. Im in the process of machining my own wheels but theyre taking me forever. Wife and kids ya know? It weighs almost 80 pounds, gonna be 32s capable, and all the weight is literally hub height so its going to be really stable and controllable. I designed the suspension in 1/4 scale from Vaughn Gitten Jr's ultra 4 bronco. I took a hundred pictures of it at KOH this year to be able to do exactly that. Should be a pretty wicked rig man. Ill be sure to document the bash im gonna put it through when i get it all squared away, powdercoated. Also have to get the really cool '69 ford f100 ext cab short bed body i carved from clay myself squared away completely. I got a good body to come out 5th try on my homemade vacuum mold. Just figuring it out still the bodies arent as refined as i want. Its not very easy. The dimensions are perfect, tho. It looks like a full size race truck 100%. When i get the wheels done which are literally 1/4 scale method beadlocks, and hopefully more realistic huge scale tires will be available by then. I want to make sure its not gonna be slow before i film anything i wont put up boring content and the gearing is still a toss up with these axles. Cheers.
It would really help the slow speed control if you use the Castle link to change the throttle curve on the ESC. John at Holmes Hobbies has a video on the best settings for the Mamba X.
Hi Kev I’d just like to recommend that you get a 3D printer, you could 3D print your own parts or brackets and maybe use it to print something for the 200 mile an hour car Thanks for the absolute banger of a vid Keep safe Love from South African
Here's an odd point of view: the delay is pretty cool. Say you put a sound kit on it, then it's like a rear rock bouncer. It'd be pretty cool getting used to it and tackling obstacles despite the "engine" having to rev up. An extra challenge and a scale feature.
I've been thinking the same for awhile now... I just can't figure out what I'd do with it that I couldn't do with a modified Slash 4x4. It just looks wicked but cool enough for $400 plus the costs of making it halfway decent at anything.
Kev you need to use marker paint and mark every bolt on that monster truck so you can visually see if any bolts are coming loose when you spanner check it from time to time 👍🏻
Jesus i think the rock bouncer gots the power in her the more power more fun and those tires on it makes look completely different love the vids man keep it going great work
oh damn, that is quite a step from "6s 47,880rpm Castle insanity in RC Rock Bouncer Car" as video title to "Why is this RC Car so disappointing!" I dread the next step :P
Dude the tires stretching like that is what happens in NHRA with such high wheel spin and they say its like an extra gear when they inflate. That's wild man!
Love my ryft. I'm still stock, other than locked front and rear diffs. Still having a blast, plan on running it till it dont. Only thing that keeps breaking on mine is rod ends.
Kevin! That HW ESC is probably blue tooth and you can set the ramp up speed and ALL kinds of parameters. Think of it as throttle curve on a heli. Or slow spool up.
After I locked all three diffs and turned off the gyro junk it's controllable now with a mamba x and puller pro xl 3500 on 3s balloons tires.but out of the box absolutely junk a couple of good parts and now it's tough
Damn that bouncer is overpowered haha need to take it up some loose rutty hill climbs and rock steps that area you took the crawlers to and think has the bmx jumps in the bush, great vid mate 👌
.... you really need to get a programming card for hobbywing escs. Itd fix your problem there. Putting in a sensored ESC would also usually do it, of course... lol. That was kinda an expensive fix there... its kinda funny... I drive my pro4 sc10 like a rock bouncer, its a big old beastie and handles everything I throw at it.
I love those black mamba tires! I really want to buy a set! Thanks Kev and thank your friend who gave them to you. There is like no videos on those tires
Kev did Claire or Ian pass on my inexpensive fix for your wheel fitment. Vitavon have made a good servo saver see Exocaged RC he fitted it. Would like to come give a hand, done several big builds over my many years of being an Electronic mechanical engineer.
@@KevinTalbotTV Hi kev I put the suggestion my way I would do it is to have longer wheel studs made or purcased and get someone to make a stainless steel spacer no more then an inch thick with no need to add bolts to fix to the hub so if machined correct it would be a fraction smaller than the hub and the outer face would be machined to sit flat on the inner wheel face in such a way as to not interfere with the weld on the inner centre. I have done this to a dragster that has over 2000hp and had run with this set up for five years until he changed the rear end completely axle wheels brakes were all updated then but my fix held for a long time. My back ground is as a electronic and mechanical engineer with a long history of building overpowered vehicles, defenatly worth considering my idea.
Ya know... im starting to think the best rc bashing vehicle if you like going fast but over crappy terrain is probably a rock bouncer rather than a monster truck. They just go faster over crap terrain, whereas monster trucks get even more unstable over the same rocks.
We had 48000 rpm and 53000rpm motors in our trucks back in the mid 80s Look up the Kyosho 480 Gold and the Kyosho 240SB Then there was the Dragworks motors too
In my opinion a gyro setup is necessary for high speed solid axle vehicles. I can drift dirt with no gyro in rc cars, but solid axle vehicles need the assistance.
youn need to add something like a gyron on the top and to control the lenght of the suspension on either one side or the 2 making it either very tall to crawl....very flat to spee....and the gyro could even control the eight on the side about to flip lowering it or raising the other one... anyway you get the idea i think you could automate the left right angles to help stay straight...a bit like the other crawler had the flextures

How do you decide what battery to use with your RC car?

Treal already has a servo saver for the ryft out on there site and in 4 colors

That's what she said

The sad thing is he wanted to put it in to see it go slower.......

haha that was funny!!

I'm sure it's been said a thousand times, but, You're like the Richard Hammond of RC.
This is my first time seeing this guy.
*Simmons
no.. he is a CLOWN... well... so is Hammond, do I guess you are correct.. LMAO
Kudos to you Kev for not giving up on the Ryft. It’s a really difficult RC car. Only an expert can get the bugs worked out of it

Monster Truck Monster Truck can't wait for the next video
"World's best" Ryft is definitely Exocaged RC's Ryft.
I believe he has two of them both amazing
Yes its all Vitivon upgrades. Shocks are different. All new electronics.. All thats axial remaining is the chassis lol
@@dnr7770 shocks are stock, cage is stock, transmission gears are stock, axle gears and driveshafts are stock. Belly/skid is vitavon.
If a car sucks, Kev always makes it ABSELUTELY EPIC
Yup
