We didn't see much of the cheapo but it seems like a great fun car.....jumped well, smooth, didn't cut out and for 1/10 the price seemed brilliant fun..!! 😀
The cheapo actually uses the exact same chassis as the HBX 2995. I have two and they are super good looking and tough as nails. Upgraded one to brushless and a year later it's going strong!
I've got one of these and for the money it's quite good. And yes it's fully ball raced with an all metal transmission and centre diff. It's also reasonably waterproof. I've given it some right abuse and so far nothing has dropped off! 👍🙋😊
While the cheapo car is a bit crap and slow 😂 looks like it would be great for the kids to get into the hobby 👌 rather than them smashing up a maxx etc. It actually jumped quite well and took the landing 👌
I have a really old rc car that probably stays in the single digits. For some reason I once tried to jump it and as you can imagine it was quite pitiful.
Doesn't it just fall apart? I had a 1/16th brushless revo the thing was veryfast on 2s and just constantly breaks... diffs/drive shafts and everything in between. These cheapos actually don't seem half bad.
@@javiertrevinomtb RPM replacement parts are much much better then factory and will make it way more durable, aluminium bulk heads and shimming the diffs are a must or another option is a centre diff but they aren’t as fun, they are great when they are modded and the little things that break are addressed
Hello Mr. Talbot! I am from Belgium and i have been watching your videos for a few months now and i have to say i really enjoy them, thank you for making them and putting your time, money and effort in to them! I do have one question about the ebay-selling. Is it dropshipping that you are talking about or would i need to have the physical products? I am asking because i am interested in buying and following your course...Anyway, love all that you do and all the best of luck to you! Happy New Year🎆🎉
Great stuff Kev 😱. The Cheapo actually looked pretty good out there 👀. Same with the Savage. Wondering if you got a junk VXL 💩. Max8 was a game changer for the Maxx. 🍻😎💪👊👊
The cheap one is actually pretty damn good. I have smaller one to that and it has taken a great beating these past three months and nothing has broken. Only thing that happened was that i stripped the spur gear which they really are metal.
@@LoociferZ it might be cheap aluminum casting i believe but the worst part was that there was no grease in there which leads me to think that the gear got hot and kind of shredded a litte bit but also kind of looks melty. Im going to throw a new gear in there and fill the case with grease and see if that works. Unfortunately there are no aftermarket upgrades for these yet that i know of
It could be a nice li'l car if you upgrade the motor to brushless and put some better shocks on it.... I guess. It goes a whole asphalt burning 14mph... wow! Lol. It's not a bad little car for $85 and it didn't cut out like the $600 MAXX. But we didn't see you put it thru that much hell. It's a good starter car for the kids in my opinion; they break it, you're only out about $80. And Interesting video as always, Kev.
the cheapo rc are fun to play with if you break one it doesn't hurt as much. i also found that some of the parts are pretty cheap. have you ever reviewed or got a Redcat? been looking at some of them and seem pretty cool not sure if they are as good as a traxxas or arrma but seems to be fast as well. awesome video.
I bought my 7 year-old the Gen 8 V2 Crawler from Redcat and it's awesome. It climbs everything my Traxxas TRX-4 climbs without hesitation. Redcat also has a bunch of 3d printer files for their stuff listed on their website, I'm really impressed with them.
@@rothamfarm1682 was a couple hundred dollars less than my Traxxas. I'm honestly surprised with how well built it is for the price I paid. My son hasn't been able to destroy it yet either. I did a lot of research before I bought it and it was the consensus best bargain for a 1/10th rock crawler.
@@MikemoRides thanks for the great info definitely going to look into them more than I have I also have a look hobby shop that carries them as well. Thanks again.
Kevin you are so full of life, you are the best and I love watching all of your videos. You my friend are a Dimond in the ruff, you are by far my favorite RUclipsr, I mean you're always a blast too watch..
Kev, one dirt cheep truck I’ve been wanting you to review is the arrma granite voltage 2wd monster truck. I know you don’t care much for 2wd but a 1/10 scale truck from a name brand for under $100 is hard to look past. Also would love your opinion on the 4wheel steer Axial Capra crawler. Cheers
Kev, do you check the preload on the Traxxas trucks before you bash? Sometimes they ship with too much slack and simply tightening the slop out until the spring doesn't rattle when the suspension is unloaded can reduce chassis slap considerably.
Happy new year, looking forward to seeing the monster truck finnished and running. My 2 year old grandson crashed his rock crawler today and shouted tumble Wumble... you have a lot to answer for..I 🤣🤣🤣
For $85 not bad at all better then I expected honestly I’d buy one and probably will especially if a young kid wants to drive one and doesn’t have that much experience

was sort of kev proof at those speeds - he ain't having that!😃
@@billynomates920 ha ha....true..!!! If he can't test it to breaking then he's not happy, but it saves us trashing an expensive car 👍👍🤣
i get the cheapos for my jack russell he loves to tare into them got a wltoy 144001 havent left him case it yet hope that it is faster them him.
For the money it's actually a really good entry level RC! 🙋👍
A set of oil filled shocks and you can call it a day. 😁
You know with a brushless motor the little guy probably would be pretty fun for the money.
Surprisingly the little one jumps smooth, not a Supreme basher but could be fun for some
I love how he has so much rc cars

Bam 💥! Back in business!
Those 1/16th guys are a lot of fun. Go brushless and they’re capable of 30+ mph.

@Zombed The Man I don't think you would be disappointed. There's a promo code on my channel so you may be able to get some money off still? 👍👍
Which one the expensive or cheap?
Thanks kev for posting again I can't believe I've been watching your videos for 5 years now

Ok thanks
Love from India, Mumbai ❤️ HAPPY NEW YEAR Kevin... 🎉

Imagine getting a 💖 from kevin...
Watching u all the way from the Philippines..here since 2 years ago
With all of the videos I've watched it would be awesome to have a G meter in the cars to see how much Gs they sustain.
13.5 2wd carpet buggies pull TONS of Gs in the tight corners
Never would have thought of that
Hell yeah tho
We need more vids like this kev
Is ur fav rc car the mini xmaxx?
I love this 😀 ❤ 📹 video 📹 😀 ❤
We upgraded a couple of the similar 1/16th Redcat cars to brushless on 2S...needless to say, being slow is no longer a problem lol

Very cool
Both look like a lot of fun
That little RC Truck is cool and jumps better then bigger one
Can't wait for the monster truck build
Nice video. For the next cheap vs expensive you should do the bezgar 7 vs one of the Traxxas.
The Maxx is a beast.
Even if it needs 6S and a lower kv motor :p
tbh i would love the cheapo for my first rc ive been watching and wanting an rc for about 3 yrs now sti waiting for my moment

He's got his brother doing it now. Surprised he didn't employ him earlier tbh.
"number one"
Looked like it performed well for such a low price.👍
I got a similar truck, Brushless power and paddle tire, check out out sometime
Way to run that little guy Bro. You gave him a fair shake. I can’t believe how cold it looks brrrrrrrrrr
Tbh that "cheapo" one seemed pretty good for beginners or children definitely get that over a 500$ Traxxas for your kids >10
You should try upgrading that cheapo RC car I think it has a bit of potential.
