    Have you tested flexi filament? I love Cw2 but I felt that it was super finicky when it came to tpu. I had to print a part that had a bore for the ptfe tubing closer to the gear, so teh filament would have less chance to buckle

      @MapleLeafMakers  8 месяцев назад +8

      We haven't had much of a chance to print any TPU yet but we are very optimistic it will be better then the CW2 because of the constant contact and no backlash. We'll probably do a video on it at some point!

    You forgot an important step.
    When you've meshed all the gears, be sure to rotate it a few times.
    If it binds at one points, your gears are misaligned and you need to rotate your motor half a teeth.

    IIRC, my LDO 2.4 kit came with an older board for the toolhead and I had to specially print certain parts for CW2 to fit that board in. That and the "beta" status are what's stopping me from buying this... But it's pretty tempting.

    The Orbiter is an amazing extruder but it has one thing I hate and I consider it to be a flaw: the tension screw have to be removed sometimes to get filament out and I have 2 orbiters were threaded inserts have weared out due to constant screwing and unscrewing of the knob, that is the main reasons why I really like CW2 as it has simple latch which is so much more comfortable to use and whole extruder doesn't cost much.

    I was putting mine together last night and noted on page 31 of the manual that the bearing retainer screws should be "just above flush". In the video though, you specifically say they should be flysh with the printed part. Was this an undocumented change made to the build process?

      Not so much a filament latch, but there is a tensioner that moves a tiny bit and allows you to pull out the filament. It's not a flip up style latch though!

    This is my favorite extruder, I run 3x of these across a few printers. The print quality i get from those is amazing.
    One important thing to note is that on the first release version the gears are slightly tighter then the recent version. After 750+ print hours my quality dropped. I took the extruder apart and found that my grease has turned black (I used super lube). I degreased the gears, and reapplied new grease and it's back in business.
    Great video!
    🍻

    • @GmanL18P

      That's normal. Considering the first release was MJF. So the dust there just mixed with the grease. It's injection molded now so should be good. But always nice to relube after a while of course.

      @@GmanL18P @GmanL18P yeah I ran it through a drill then soaked it in IPA and dried it in a dehydrator when I first got it, I figured it would have done the trick. That being said it's still my favorite extruder and I'm super happy with it.

    • @og.StudMuffin
      @og.StudMuffin 6 месяцев назад

      @mickspeedy1 Bondtech doesn't let all their secrets out. I own an LGX lite so I am biased, but the LGX likely doesn't suffer from any of the normal problems that older designs could. The gears don't have anywhere to move, the grooves are U shaped to keep the filament centered, and the lighter clamp force with large gears causes less scaring on the filament as its pushed into the extruder (another common issue people claim to have).

      @rotarucosminleonard I totally agree. Video's title looks like a total click bait - if it's so amazing, I want to know why, not how to assemble it! Conversely, for people how want to know how to assemble it, the title is also pretty useless, as it looks like it's a review, not an assembly guide. So far all I've heard about Galileo 2 is all hype. Even the original repo does not explain the rationale behind this...
