I have to agree. As much as I might daydream about there being a happy ending to Sotc. The whole appeal of the premise is the tresspass and desecration wander is doing in the name of mono. The ending we have is probably the only fitting atonement we could have for what we’ve done.
Damn. Thank you for this, I've always wandered (no pun intended) if I'll be able to see an alternative ending. I was too young then to understand after finishing the game for the first time, but as years passed, believe me or not, I sometimes think about SOTC still whenever I come upon a video related to SOTC. I've never read the books you've mentioned, don't know either where to find them, but I am so grateful that you shared this one. SOTC is so memorable to me, when I finished this game back then I was left to wonder, is that the ending? And now, I am happy to know there is another. It might've been removed, but it'e an ending nonetheless. There was hope to Wander's sacrifice in saving Mono. Thank you for sharing this alternative ending.
So in this alternative ending Dormin is never ressurected but remains in Wander's body forever ? Well I still prefer it over the original we got. At least we have some hope and this would perfectly link to ICO's story. The idea that Mono is not human, immortal and will become the queen in ICO years later makes sense, so that Ico finally can put an end to her misery. A true tragedy.
I would’ve loved that ending a whole lot more than the one we got! Ueda saying you can’t have a happy ending in a story involving resurrection, try telling that to Disney and other storytellers. He also could’ve given us another alternate ending where if you collect all the lizard tails and killing all colossi, you’ll have just enough stamina to outlast the pull from the well sucking in all of Dormin.
I wonder what this beast wander would had look like, I kinda wish we got a direct sequel instead of more questions from the next game team ico takes a 30 years to make
In the final version, Lord Emon throws the sword into the pool and this sucks Dormin and Wander inside, but in this alternative ending, what is the reason for him to throw the sword (or horn) into the pool since Wander did not turn into a giant monster of Dormin's shadows?
I glad to see them together in the happy ending..🥲 although the the new ending is already being in the game we have to accept that sad ending is the main ending for the story because the death of our hero wonder is a canon events..😢(JK THAT A JOKE)

23:18 okay you got me to laugh with the hardcut to Anakin and Padme.

Definitely interesting, it’s kinda like if the game gave us 2 choices what decisions would we have to make to determine the endings.
Yayyy more sotc content
Keep it up btw! I adore your sotc coverage

I'm so glad we didn't got the Disney ending, i think the bitterness and the mystery goes hand in hand

Doesn't the girl later have sex with the adult reborn Wander?
If the link to Ico is to be believed. If not, it's your headcanon ;)
