- A (not very scientific) comparison between Vance & Hines short shots and USA made 2" LAF's.
V&H @ 1m from cold was around 108dB
2" LAFs @ 1m from cold was around 112dB
Over 2x the sound pressure
I took baffles out of my stage1 1202 evo. V&H short shots pipes. It didn`t needed re mapping. Works as fine as it did with those racing style baffles in pipes.
Did you put any baffles or torgue cones in the LAF install? and i guess you mapped it after with a FP3 or something?
V&H Short shots any day.
Where can you purchase the 2" LAF's?
I got a set of ultima short shots which are the same on Amazon for 150
Prefer the LAFs on mine. I am looking at some pipes from Kinetic, but it's hard for me to justify paying almost 1k for pipes that will sound the same as my 150 LAFs from Amazon, just with upgraded looks. I think once the LAFs start to fail, I'll get the Kinetics, unless I get bored w/ the look.
Real leg burners 🔥 lol 😆 for that usa laf
I have the long shots I like them
I'll keep my Vance and Hines . 😃
Louder but not by a lot , 4 decibels isn’t that huge of a difference.
At idle, those drag pipes on accel are insanely loud, and the noise is closer to you, not exiting slightly behind you like the short shots...
Remember that decibels are logarithmic, so 4 dB is actually quite a bit. Normal city traffic inside your car is around 85dB, and an actual train horn is 90 dB. So 4 dB on a bike is a world of difference.
I am assuming there was a noticeable loss in power with the second set of pipes. Am I correct?
I've had the drag pipes on my sporty a little while ago, and I can say that there was some noticeable loss in low-end torque. To keep the performance you'd probably have to get torque cones, or some sort of baffle.
Just take it for a tune.

@@Sharty_McFly yep, torque cones are a must plus the wrapping is necessary for the internal heating to deal with the scavenging problem.
The y pipe is nice, can you use mid-controls with it?
nasomaz not with those as your feet would be at the end of the pipes 😮
LAF's really are unbearably loud. you can't go on road trips without getting massive headaches. I'd just put them on your bar crawler bike and keep the quieter system on your baggers
Worth it
Well now i know which 2 pipes not to get....lol
Did you run the LAF for a while? any issues?
Ran them for about 10 months, then sold the bike with them on. As far as I know still on the bike now nearly 3 years later with no issues what so ever!
@@harley_wig sweet! I guess the people having issues aren't maintaining their bike and probably abusing it.
Vance and hines has better sound the other pipe is just an open pipe
What tuner are you running?
Why have any exaust pipes at all? Go for the last and final step and have ZERO EXAUST PIPES ! DO IT NOW BEFORE SOMEBODY ELSE DOES because you KNOW - SOMEBODY WILL!
I can’t stand v&h’s they make your bike run like absolutely shit even with a good tune. An they sound like ass. It makes every bike sound the same. Like the flow master of the bike world.
You've had poorly tuned bikes then lol. Have had vance and hines pipes on several harleys and metric cruisers with zero issues and plenty of gains.
I have v&h straight shots on mine runs amazing and I think it sounds decent even tho I'm getting ready to do Bassani prostreets
